One Winged Angel1357 -> Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 14:57:12)

Ok we are now into Day 3 of the Infernal Infiltration War and towards the end of Day 2 we had the War Patch which fixed the ally bug in 2v2.

Now I know we have the whole huge War topic but I want to just dissect the 2v2 bit, no influence, no 1v1, no grenades, just 2v2 pre-patch vs current.

Personally I prefer the pre-patch version of 2v2, a player and a Mechachillid, sometimes of different levels, on each side. This system, for me at least, was more like 1v1 but if you were mostly focused on 2v2 you could work just fine as well. If you were a 1v1 player you just focus on the Mechachillid or the other player and completely ignore the other and you didn't have to worry about your partner calling for aid because Mechachillid use a 1v1 style as well. Also with the old system neither side had to worry about 2 players vs you and a Mechachillid which depending on those two players is near impossible to win in and some of you have voiced that same opinion. Something else that is off with the new system, and this is just from my experience, is you never get a normal 2v2, there always have to be a Mechachillid in the fight and sadly it doesn't always have to be the level 35 Mechachillid.

So because Lycus said they would look into changing the 2v2 system later in the war or for next war(see below) lets get a fair over view of how we feel about the system so the Dev's know whether this system needs a change or to stay the same.

quote:

One match this may happen to you, the next match it will happen to the other person, chances are that you probably won't notice much if this happens to the opponent. It balances its self out, and if it isn't for you, then you're being rather unlucky. In the battles I've been in, I'll have one battle where I'm with a Mecha against two players, next thing, I'll be with another player against a Mecha and a player. So what happens to you, happens to others.

Maybe it can be changed later on in the war, or it can be an improvement for the next war, we'll have to see!

DestruRaGe -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 15:30:58)

Yes I also liked the old(3 days old, lol) 2vs2 system. It was more fun and more fair. Now its just standard unfair 2vs2, ha its even more unfair when you get npc in team vs 2 power house players.
I vote for bringing back that unique system. New kind of gameplay and you remove it? I dont get it.

tgod -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 16:33:42)

The old one because it was much more fair

Ranloth -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 17:07:28)

I'd like these to stay:

Human vs. Human
Human vs. NPC
Human + NPC vs. Human + NPC
Human + NPC vs. NPC + NPC

Nothing else, since this one was better and AI was funny in 3rd option since they attacked somewhat randomly but still doable for majority of players I suppose. Now it's okay, but I'm not too fond on 2v2 matching currently as a mode itself so putting it in the war wasn't good options (that's Human + Human vs. Human + Human). Above for - pretty much old ones - are the best ones and should've stayed. 50/50 chance for either, 1v1 or 2v2, was good since it was lower for 1v1 before (33%) but it was made fairer at 50% but destroyed by adding more 2v2 options.. T-T

friend18 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 17:15:57)

^Agreed. It's fair and it works just fine.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 17:16:53)

@trans
I would like Human+Human vs Human+Human though. [:(]

friend18 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 17:20:06)

^That too. I completely missed that.

Ranloth -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 17:22:02)

Not too fond of standard 2v2, not because of the build since mine is universal across all modes, but matching up is the problem still. If they made it more fair, I wouldn't mind it at all.

Lycus -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/4/2012 18:21:06)

War Discussion is once again permitted, this discussion may recommence!

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:09:17)

Ok guys Lycus has been kind enough to let us discuss the war again so discussiON

ansh0 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:25:36)

@below

Oh I see, my bad :P

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:35:27)

@ansh0 this is just about the 2v2 system if you want to discuss the war in general remake on of the war discussion topics

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:36:20)

as every1 knows the new WAR 2v2 is well way unbalanced and the team with 2 humans will steamroll and destroy the other human with a bug partner. so i suggest making it into human + bug vs human +bug or Human+ human vs Bug+bug. i do hope the devs consider re-balancing the WAR 2v2 as well yeah if u get unlucky and get a bug as a partner for 6-7 battles in a row u would be very very annoyed.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:39:26)

well over the last two days I have formed a new opinion to some extent.

Everything in my first post still holds true to my opinion but if you make the bugs slightly strogner, not steamroll a F2P stronger, and tuned up their AI so they are worth something as a partner the current system might just yield something of value but other then that i still prefer one bug on each team.

Lord Nub -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:39:51)

I agree it's completely unbalanced in its current state. It's not all that bad offensively with its what seems to be high support and strength. The problem is its defensive capabilities and choice of maneuvers. If it were to be greatly increased defensively, the single player could do its best to take one opponent out and the Mechachillnoob would stand a chance at least but right now they die in about 3 hits with full hp.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:40:53)

I like the new 2vs2 system and 1vs1 system this war has brought us. But I believe the Heavy Mechachillids need to be buffed. They are way to weak (I killed one myself in less then a minute) and they make dumb decisions in battle that cost me the match many times. Can't the devs buff them or program them to just focus on one target at a time?

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:44:25)

improving the npc/ai capabilities will indeed improve the current 2v2 war system but i think it is harder to do so compared to making it the way it was and adding in Human+human vs bug+bug. making human+human vs human+human will solve the long waiting time.

Lord Nub -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:46:21)

^ 2 humans side by side from the same alignment fighting the bugs would make sense. If they buffed the bugs so it wouldn't be too easy I'd much prefer that.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 11:50:35)

@Luna I agree because to get the AI up to being of use in 2v2 would mean adding a somewhat human factor to it which is just weird haha

but really making a fail safe that either finds two human players or replaces them with bugs when one side has full players would be good

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 12:01:52)

the devs can improve the bugs skill tree to buff them. give them hybrid armor so the wont cast def matrix and energy shield which is almost always the main cause of them getting bashed up. giving the bugs mass,zerk and increased str would also help but i dont think they should do that cause if the bug do too much dmg on lvl 28,the lvl 28 will be steamrolled and destroyed.

EDIT; the WAR 2v2 mechanics are still the same guess the update was just to put in the new promo. oh wells

Ez_Ease -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 13:02:17)

I think the AI does need to be tweeked a little when it comes to finishing the
opponent off, or healing an ally when they have the chance. The wait time
is a bit much especially during power hour. What I dont like is people leaving
while waiting should be some way to allow for those who only want to do 1v1
that way it wont affect those waiting for 2v2.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 14:57:39)

well yeah the q time is still long but not so bad compared to 2 patch before current patch. in order to speed things i suggest putting normal 2v2 into the WAR 2v2 because well right now normal 2v2 is like a dead zone( not so) but it take quite a while to get a 2v2 match with a different person in normal 2v2. u will either meet the same people again for 3-4 battle before meeting new people(this is when the servers are not packed).I have not tried playing Normal 2v2 when the servers are packed i m guessing the q times should be better but playing in the war during power hour = more credits than normal 2v2 so more people would be tempted to play WAR 2v2/war match during power hour. so the q times for war matches should be faster during power hour.

idk much about the balance at low lvls and i bet the q time for low lvls for the war battle is very very long have not tested it yet But i did make a faction with my low lvl alt(lvl 24) so i might wanna try and see if the q time for 15-25 are long or are they about the same. i will try out lvl 1-15 too. will post the results once i m done with the tests.will also comment on the balance at low lvls.

rej -> RE: Infernal Infiltration 2v2 new vs old (7/6/2012 15:58:11)

Earlier today, I found myself in a most interesting 2v2 situation indeed. Me and a level 35 Mechachillid were matched against a level 29 BH and a level 31 TM. In other words, my team had a 9 level advantage. Obviously, this matching is way outside of the normal 5 level range.
