A vault is not unsecured from the inside, or the inside would be metallic, manmade of some sort.
Therefore, if these arent vaults, but indeed doors, why not drill around them? If you have the explosives, you generally have the resources to blow up the Natural walls around it.
Since i know this isnt the case, why is it that the inside of the vaults are natural caverns with a door leading to it?



Doesnt make any sense.[:-]
Any thoughts anyone? [:)]

Well, Magma is just a bad excuse :C though i respect the thought, there are ways around magma. Its not good enough for thinkers like us ;)

We're already beating on the vault as hard as we can, can't see how busting the wall will really make those bugs any more cross than what they are now.

Actually the vault is just using the natural surrounding in order to protect what is inside, so the magma serves as a defense as well.

that still doesn't make much sense that attacking the heavily armed and armored vaults head on is the easier option of the two. Punching through a wall of lava a few feet thick sounds much easier, I say a few feet thick because we can clearly see the walls near the vault doors are quite thin and you're not going to stand there and tell me this world doesn't have alloys that endure lava heat.

Personally, I don't really care if its a door or vault. I would destroy it they easy way. Detonate a hydrogen bomb. If that does not break through, then its a really strong wall. Then I would drop two hydrogen bombs.

I think opening a hole would cause lava to escape and flood everything. And then the tunnels could collapse, blocking everything, preventing us to find the secret rooms. And lets not forget the doors themselves are covered and hidden from sight, becoming impossible to find the correct path if such thing were to happen.

Im probably thinking too much.

Like I said, detonating an hydrogen bomb is the easiest way to clear the war.

But then you would also destroy whatever was IN the Delta Vault, which is what we're fight for in the first place, as well as everything else down there.
In addition, I assume the problem with drilling through the walls is that we need to be careful not to cause a cave in.
The mines look VERY unstable, and drilling in the wrong place or being careless with anything BUT the vault would set us back for a long while and even destroy the contents of the vault, whatever that may be.

That is why before you drop it, you calculate how far to drop it to prevent the bomb blowing up what is inside the vault. Basically, blow it up 10 miles from the vault. It should destroy it.

I got it. We freeze the vault to absolute zero, and then walk in there and smash the vault to pieces with a hammer.
