To clarify, the drop rate is at 1% for everyone. It's indiscriminate, meaning that both non-varium and varium players have the same chance of getting an Ebil Hazard Husk for every victory. Those who do not purchase varium have never been excluded out of these kind of events, which is why it's extremely difficult for anyone to get the armor in general. The fact that you've only seen varium-buyers with the husk merely means that they've probably gotten luckier or purchased multiple Brainwashes from a Vendbot to increase the likelihood of receiving the drop by increasing the number of times they battle Snork-although it should be noted that even then, that doesn't guarantee a drop.
Just envision the drop rate as a dice with 100 sides, with each side numbered with a unique number from 1-100. You must roll and somehow get that 1 to snag a husk. The more times you get to roll the dice (that is, get a victory out of Snork), the higher your chance is at getting that 1.
Moreover, as I'm not seeing much of a discussion here (but more like a suggestion/bug report), I'm going to padlock up.
