The thing is guys, both of these ways of hiding or not hiding skill cores has both a good side and a bad side. We can only tell to see what the Devs will do about it.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/3/2013 23:38:02)

^ or Like I said,

We could support the use of both styles in multiple battle mode alternatives of 1v1, 2v2 and jugg.

They could have separate battle modes for both blind and not blind however they both stockpile losses and wins into the same area under, solo team or jugg.

I can't see why others aren't agreeing with this because basically allows everyone to be happy? does it not?

I think v should wait for omega, then decide ...

King Helios -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/3/2013 23:41:10)

Even LONGER battle waiting times ^

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/3/2013 23:49:21)

@ hijinks

you are right about that.

Hiding them would bring surprise (Which some hate) you can have an ace in the hole, and in some cases if you are a lower level going against a higher level that ace in the whole can help you beat a higher level opponent when used with a good plan. Also children who like things simple and not too complex when it comes to winning might enjoy it better.

Disadvantages of it as remorse said it would take out extra planning and that unknown factor can destroy an otherwise good plan when you could have countered it if you had known if they is a way to counter it.

Now showing the cores would make the game a lot less luck based for the thinking mind nip in the butt any possible unknowns or you can plan to counter or lessen the blow if you know it is coming.

Though the disadvantages I see to this is

1 it will make the game a bit more harder for children who are trying to have fun and not think too much. while plenty of the players are teens and adults most of our players are children and making the game too hard to win might turn them off. Also as stated before if you wanted to surprise you opponent with an ace in the hole that is gone as well since they will be able to see it, and prepare for it especially if they can tell when it will be coming.

@ remorse

I can see why we disagree with this. You want pure planning and making the core visible will increase this, while I like planning and surprise and surprise and if we can see the cores no surprise can come. Maybe in omega they might make a battle mode where the cores are invisible for players like myself while having everything shown for players like yourself. The only problem I can see with it is that fights will take longer to fight since we will have yet another battle mode taking away from the player pool.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/3/2013 23:57:25)

^ That is always a worry mother,

But I hope as omega comes that their would be a lot more players to join the game and hopefully it won't be to bad in the waiting department.

Its sort of a damned if you do damned if you dont situation.

Implementing more battles modes may lead to more players,

But on the other hand implementing more battle modes may mean their is slow waiting for battles to.

Hopefully if you suffer through the slower waiting times as more battle modes are made and new, eventually they will become quick again because of the people it encourages to play.

Plus this would definitely be a good thing to test to see if their would be enough players in the first place,

i highly doubt it sad truth is this has been expected everytime theirs been a major change/ phase change the numbers increase for a month and that isnt even massively then they drop again .

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 2:58:05)

@King Helios
Not mentioning wasted database space to hold 3 modes that are the same but minor difference. Server space costs hence that won't even happen. Costs of the space outweigh few people being angry at not being able to see cores because luck = bad. If luck is bad, make everything 0% chance as well since you can deflect with base deflection rate, and what's that? Probability, or luck as some people prefer it. Pointless.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 3:50:14)

@above not to mention that the game will become even more boring without probabilities, oversoul for example, they don't have crits or block chances, the only strategic or fun part about it is that you can't see your opponent's moves, therefore it makes it more exciting and strategic to deal with whatever your opponent throws at you.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 3:57:41)

^os has no win counts, so doesn't matter even if i loss ...

ED is more of serious playing, untill u literally don't care about ur ratio ..

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 4:10:19)

@above so? they still tell you whether you lost or won a battle, it gives you the same feeling just that there is no win/loss numbers recorded, whats so good about getting great win/loss records anyways? the fact that when we see a person with ridiculous amount of wins and low amount of losses, we know that they are a OP build user, we do not respect them or treat them better.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 6:41:39)

^If wins and losses are just numbers, then y were so many players asking for wins to be removed in ED?? "The fact is, it matters to everyone, but nobody wants to admit it" ...

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 6:52:25)

@ soul

There is only one person I have been seeing that wants wins and losses removed and it is due to the fact that NPC are no longer going to count as wins.

@soul as mother1 said, it is because of the removal of NPC wins, they can no longer cheat their records and lie to themselves, there must always be win and loss, those who think that they should always win is pathetic.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 8:51:28)

^ Agreed,

Removing loses from the game removes all incentive to do well.

What do you think would happen to modes like 2v2, if people had no incentive to win?

Jumping would be worse then ever.

My guess is the whole mode will be just people refreshing the page until they get into a game where the opponent refreshes instead of them...

Darius -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 9:28:48)

Yay! Omega is finally feature-locked! *strokes founder armor and beta weapons* Soon...

willendorf -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 10:02:30)

@Remorse then intunitading people would rule the game!

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= Omega Status Update - January 31, 2013 (2/4/2013 15:02:50)

I am a strategist by nature and while seeing cores would allow me to create a strategy it isn't really needed in this game because part of being a strategist is being able to make decisions on the fly that ultimately lead to mission success, or if you were wrong mission failure.

So for now I side with hidden skill cores
