J.U.S.T.I.C.E. -> AE Policy (2/2/2013 8:56:53)

What do you guys think about being able to sell rares? Is it fair? If that persons account was broken in to and they had rares and then lost them?

Should you be able to sell rares?

Discuss (Unless you have duplicate, then you can sell however left till you have one)

Ranloth -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:04:51)

Rare is a normal item like any others, with exception of mini power boost in the current phase and nothing special (but rare cores, if any) in Omega. There isn't any policy against rares but buffing promise which is irrelevant/invalid once Omega goes live.
If you get hacked, settle for another item. All it will have is looks and maybe rare core. If you got hacked, that's entirely your fault for letting someone steal your account information. Viruses? That's why it's advised to have anti-virus installed on your PC.

Rarity means a lot to some people and completely nothing to others. There's nothing special about them except for personal attachment and perhaps unique ability, but they aren't any different to other items. Cores will be balanced so power of some limited/rare core will be the same as any other that's in-game.

I don't think you take in to consideration what I have said Trans I think you only recognize the bit about getting broken in to.. Please stopping being stubborn and act responsibly - IMAGINE if it happened to you? It'd be better if you couldn't sell the rare

theholyfighter -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:09:25)

You mean selling rare items? Well rares matter from appearance IMO, and just as Trans said, if it's hacked into, there must be a reason...Either you installed some program and it sent virus...

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:11:38)

But wouldn't it be better if you couldn't sell the rares? Read the last part after 'Discuss'

Ranloth -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:13:49)

I did consider pretty much all your points. Selling rares yourself is your choice, not ours, so whether it's fair to be able to sell them or not isn't our problem IF it was your choice to sell them. Consider inventory space filled with rares you cannot sell.
Getting hacked and have rare items stolen? I explained above. Rares are bad for games unless they are to boost sales in short-run (special offer for limited amount of time, like a really good deal).
Whether we should be able to sell rares or not? I also explained it in my 1st post and here. Mentioned hacking too.

Imagine if it was me, eh? That matters because? Who said I wasn't anyway? It's not nice to accuse people of something if they don't agree with you, have different views, or you may have insufficient information. >.>

theholyfighter -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:17:35)

O well hopefully everyone knows that all AE games have an 'Inventory Limit", which requires cash-bought currency to purchase. Therefore, limiting the usage of inventory spaces is not an option for me.

Mother1 -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:17:47)

If they made rare items unsellable this would be an issue for non variums and even variums but more for non variums since they can't buy inventory space. What happens if they get 30 rare items and want something else? Well then they are screwed aren't they since they can't get inventory space and can't sell them either.

As for the thing about getting your account broken into to. That is not an excuse. Most people aren't hacked but scammed because of their own stupidity. It is already stated not to give out your password as breaking the rules and you can get banned for doing it.

Drianx -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:18:08)

The vast majority of players that accidentally end up without rares are people who have shared their accounts.

With that being said, I don't think nursing them too much is really necessary.

theholyfighter -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:26:50)

I kind-of loled when I see this:

Stabilis -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:32:51)

The big problem is that people are getting scammed more than hacked, so they are much more responsible.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 9:46:11)

@above exactly, if people are so dumb to fall for such things then they deserve it, scammers are still out there, i have seen alot of players running around saying that they will give me 5k varium even though they are non variums themselves, and rares should be sell-able because like others have said, it will stock up eventually and you have to be forced to pay for additional inventory slots.

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:26:31)

Instead of making them unsellable, we could have a rare buy back system where you can buy any rares you have owned, even if you sold them.

theholyfighter -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:28:51)

^It might take up database, which needs cash to buy. When the team needs cash, we have to pay varium/ac coins/other in-game currencies.

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:31:22)

They could make a pricey "key" required to unlock the shop; I would pay $ for access to this shop in a heartbeat.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:34:47)

I agree shadows, this would improve the game and bring back people I know who have quit because they sold there old weapons - due to the fact noone said they would buff them.. then they did

Ranloth -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:36:54)

Unless that is aimed at before the policy was made (to not buff rare items), the Upgrade system in Omega =/= the promise. It was already confirmed by Rabble.

Practel -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:48:27)

Rares are a part of any MMO, and that will not change. Whether a person gets hacked or not, it is up to the player to keep their account safe. This is a change that would only work for the minority of players who are foolish enough to get their accounts hacked.

Lycus -> RE: AE Policy (2/2/2013 10:50:53)

Going to lock this up since it will just turn into further flaming, and the discussion is not wholly useful. The issue is, on this subject we cannot win to an extent... I mean, if we allow people to sell their rares, then we leave the issue of people who have their accounts 'hacked' having their rares sold or anything else like that, such as accidently selling rares. However if we then do not allow rares, people who want to sell them complain, because it is taking up space in their inventory.

So overall, it is one of those things we have to take both arguments into account. Lastly, if you want to post anything like this, then it is best to put it in suggestions, since this is more a suggestion than a discussion!
