@Jmagician
Fire is good against Water and Water is good against energy in DF xD. It's really odd :P OS seems to use a reverse DF weakness.

And yeah, hopefully chaos is out before E.Resistance, otherwise FC is gonna tear apart everyone in PvP!

quote:

I do not consider leveling "forced". As it implies that it happens inevitably. I can assure you that A LOT of effort goes into leveling anything to 20.

I will not pursue the matter of HP any further as it is clear we (as in me vs everyone else) do not meet eye to eye in the matter, probably because of differing opinions, feelings or simply not understanding in detail how I expect it to be implemented. So let's leave that topic for another time.

However, seeing that comment, I would argue that leveling is inevitable seeing as you can't decide when you level up and it only happens inevitably as you fight with that character. While a LOT of effort those go into level 20 (Hey, I got a LV20 Pyre Witch and LV17 Water Elemental) I only wish that reaching those 19 levels wasn't boring and repetitive and that the system can be changed.

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 13:38:56)

@Cyber: Yeah I agree that the way in which we go about levelling our characters should be changed for the better. But, this is something I have come to understand will happen regardless. The only reason I didn't say anything before is because this game is missing to many of its core features to even worry about it.

@vagaran: I know right! D: Very weird lol, OS is not only reversing the weaknesses, they are going about it in a way which makes sense.

the warden -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 13:41:28)

got drow assassin:) hes fun to use

DeathGuard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 14:20:45)

Indeed lvling characters to 20 with few boosts is really hard. I lvled up Pyre Witch and Master Barbarian and it took a lot of time.

Mondez -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 15:02:14)

Hey everyone, back from work and I see we had quite the discussion.

I'm just wondering, but did any of you guys at least remember stats? I'm sure once stats come out it would help alleviate the balance a bit and I disagree with the fixed HP in your post Cyber since it would derive the players urge to level their characters to 20 and to counter against the arguement I would bring in Labyth who can use characters that are at least 5 to 8 levels lower than the people he pvps against and win.

Anyways I know I'm late, but that's my opinion on the matter because fixed HP isn't going to help the game any better.

I got 2 level 20's and I earned the hard work for them be causing farming is tedious, but the reward was worth it.

DarkLore -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 15:03:44)

I may not post in this forum as often as I used to. I found out a few days ago from a friend that another friend had tragically died in a hunting accident only a week or two before she was going to get married. It tears me to pieces because I didn't know she was gone for a long time.[:(]

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 15:21:25)

That really sucks man. But we understand. I'm sorry that that happened.

Rly? 13 hours not standing up and I get THIS? (8th encounter)

Any chance they'll give it to me manually?

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 16:15:18)

@Hakunin: You're lucky. Check out my situation.

This JUST happened right now.-.

Hakunin -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 16:21:41)

@Jmagician
I don't understand your issue. Treasure Chests are unpossessable, and the "die with HP left" bug isn't that big of an issue. Gold isn't a serious issue currently neither.

But denying a successfull free possession is just VERY BAD, especially with an uncommon critter.

EDIT: if you don't get it: I made a successful possession (golden plated popup behind) what got overwritten with failure-popup.

Oh, and new Fanfic Post

Cyromansor -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 16:55:40)

Hello!

I was just wondering, what is a Normal character you guys would recommend me? As in the best out there. Given that I don't have SG it would have to be one on its base level or that doesn't need SGs at all. Then if its one you have to buy could you name that one and name on you don't? So two basically!

Thank you!

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 16:57:40)

Dying with HP isn't a big issue? Really. . cause' this is the first time it happened to me ever. It makes it even worse that I encountered this bug with a TC rather than a plain old ordinary character.

So what is your issue? Like, you saw the success pop-up and then the failure one came? I am pretty sure it is just a graphic glitch and you already captured it and have it in your inventory. If not, the failure pop-up should have been there instead of a success one. In the second case, all it did was get your hopes up which is a shame [&:]

@above: Orc Chieftain and Thrak are probably the best free Neutral characters. The former costing 100k and the later being an evo from Orc Peon I think.

kise2 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 16:58:08)

Whooooo it took forever to read 11 pages but im finally here.

@Above
By normal do you mean neutral or apprentice?

@Below
NOOO Tharr is the best[:'(].

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 16:59:02)

@Cyromansor
Shaolin Monk is a GREAT neutral character. He's Master rank, but a rare encounter in that north corner cave in the central map.
Orc Chieftain is the best neutral character you can find, but he's your quest reward for capturing all those hard to find Ogres, and paying 100,000 Gold at the shop.

Barring those, Pikeman Mercenary General (evolved from Recruit) is also excellent, along with Sword Matron (from Peasant).

Vagaran -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:05:12)

@Jmagician
Thrak evolved from Orc Axeman.

Hakunin -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:06:40)

@Jmagican
What you lost, rly is at wqorst some more MINUTES.

What I lost is NOT a graphical glitch. The success-popup was there for a half second for real. No, I didn't have it (that'd generate a third popup with "failure, you already have this character"), nor have it despite the bug (tried to relog).
According to my notes the remaining critters are possessable at the 8th try (except Orc Pillager, what still resists), and I did got the success for Cosoma at exactly the 8th try. If I'd have to start this again, it means I'd have incest another 13 HOURS to get it.

Also this bug is not new. With Void Incarnate Male I got the exact same bug over and over, and only the next day it got fixed. But while Void Incarnate appears commonly, Cosoma is far from being common. And this is a bug, what will prevent any future try until fixed, maybe for even any character for now!

Vagaran -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:25:08)

@kise2
Sorry to say but Chieftain beats Tharr.

Tharr lacks Cat Reflex, so Chieftain can just put up Counter Attack to make it tough for Tharr to attack. Chieftain also got more shields + 1 more IH.

In a battle, Chieftain would most likely win as he is just much more defensiv than Tharr is. Chieftain can simply spam shields and Cat Reflex while Tharr is limited in terms of defense.

kise2 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:30:54)

Oh yeah Chieftain can always beat Tharr rigt now because of all the counter attacks but when cc comes out, it will be different.

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:33:06)

@kise2: Plus, you also have to realize that CC won't really help because it works for both parties. There simply is no restriction on CC which is why everyone can make as much use of it equally.

@vagaran: Thanks for the correction, I don't really know my Orcs and Ogres well haha

Vagaran -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:37:06)

@Kise
As Jmagician said, CC will also benefit Chieftain :P

kise2 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:46:32)

Chieftain has a 18 card deck where as Tharr has 15, So Tharr can add a few cards without it becoming too cluttered. Al he really needs is cat reflexes anyway.

Beck -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 17:52:08)

@kise
The Chief is the Chief! He doesn't NEED any cards added xD Just like Cosoma Titan's deck is perfect and doesn't need any Ice CC.

DeathGuard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 18:09:54)

So I got Overfiend Blade and Blood Ranger today. I lvled up Light Guardian a bit so time for me to logout.

Goma -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 124 - READ THE FIRST POST (5/19/2013 18:27:00)

i too think that chieftain is better than tharr maybe it's because i like balanced characters (good offense and decent to good defense)

recently i've tried out some of the more less used characters such as the bats and they can actually be pretty decent i beat a level 13 (i think he was) void reaper with a level 7 bat the shadow version that is. Cellar rat too can be decent i'm surprised that no one uses them more
