King of Clubs -> Passive Skills (6/6/2013 1:49:48)

First let me state for the record that I strongly against the removal of passive skills are they are literally the foundation of the game and the most important skills on each classes tree. If you take away hybrid armour, deadly aim, and shadow arts each class will be severely affected but new builds will arise. If you take conversion, adrenaline, and bloodlust, all classes will need to be fundamentally redeveloped including the need to reset all skills, item stats, cores, and maybe even buying new items (although i think that may be your intent).

I understand that you wish to make battles longer and more balanced but the passive stats are the already made to be balanced. With the new skills such as atom smasher being so massively op and Aux Strike being able to take you out in 2 turns, they are the single line of defense. This change will not make battles any longer as people will simply stop using the skills altogether, you are only decreasing the skills available to each class.

I also realize that some players (mainly lower levels i believe) think that passive skills can make players "too lucky", but that just goes to show that the passive skills are the most important aspect of the game. Additionally, cores offer as much if not more of a boost, which leads me to believe that you are only removing passive skills to force players to buy more cores meaning theyll likely buy more varium (sorry but I need to say what I believe).

Long story short, you are taking a HUGE step backwards with this update which to me at least feels rushed, forced, half-baked, and counterproductive. If you go thru with it I imagine that you will lose a large portion of your players (including most of the high level players who buy alot of varium), such that you will need to undo the updated later. I IMPLORE you to spare yourselves that ordeal and just cancel this dooms day update before it is too late. So many games before you have tried to completely redesign themselves and time and time again, they have failed without exception.

You do realise the passives will be completely revamped to fit the role of actives, not keep the same numbers, right? Also, you say "HUGE step backwards" - keep such comments after the release is out and you have sufficient facts to back the statement up with, rather than have NO information on the release or whatsoever and already saying it's bad.

Mysterion. -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 5:46:52)

^ Couldn't have said it better.

It hasn't even released yet and you already judge it..

EpicIsEpic -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 12:20:42)

Well since we don't know if it will be bad you cannot judge.
But i wouldn't like it eather that all our passives get removed.

Stabilis -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 12:49:23)

Clearly his knowledge is so great that he can see into the future!

GearzHeadz -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 12:56:34)

I am a bit upset by the removal of passive skills, they do set the foundation of the game and have been here for so long. Bounties for one heavily rely on bloodlust to battle and without it, it will be much harder for one to compete with the other heavy-hitting classes. The tech mages will have to be very cautious with their energy since they will not be regaining it. And the mercs will less of the tanks they are. (That last one, I'm kinda OK with)

Ranloth -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 13:20:50)

Because passives turning to active skills means removing them from the game. They will act like Shields but have different effect, so you gain an advantage after you use the skill. Cautious with Energy? How about thinking before brainless spamming? Non-EP regaining classes don't always pay attention to their Energy or don't rely on it, TMs aren't different.

You make it sound as if they will get nerfed (number wise) and removed from the game. Turning them into active skills means they will get a buff (number wise) since you spend a turn activating them. Common sense, people.

Bloodpact -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 16:36:30)

I do worry they will cost alot of EP now cuz BM and BH
have no EP regain really, 15% for 4 turns is basically nothing.

So you would just use a high EMP to shut them both down.

Passive skills also are part of what makes an class gameplay feel different. Removing them, will not only shock all the players, but also doesn't guarantee that the battles will be any more enjoyable than what they are.

True or not, i couldn't care less. In the end, it either becomes the case of changing back because of community feedback or simply adapting to it.

Regardless, this journey to get a 100% skill based game is a joke in my eyes.

I do not agree with this.
You first need to activate the skill to provide from it, whereas with passives you don't need to do a single thing.
Active skills dont last the entire battle, passives do.
Active skills will (probably) get an energy cost, passives don't.

So, like you said, you cannot judge it until it has been released. Calling it a buff while you haven't even seen the change itself is foolish and ungrounded.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Passive Skills (6/6/2013 20:32:42)

Personally, passives shouldn't have taken priority as skills on the skill tree in the first place. I believe that all skills should be equal so that some are actually worth investing in when comparing to others, rather than the obvious investment in passives.

Necromantres -> RE: Passive Skills (6/7/2013 8:06:23)

well we can only see how will this become..while i don't like that the passives are a must for almost any build i assume when they will be converted to actives, for some time it will be a rise of the quick kill builds.(Azrael str/supp mages my guess)

I agree with that ,supp builds will dominate (due to first turn formula)

CodexC -> RE: Passive Skills (6/13/2013 22:30:43)

I get the feeling that the passives they are removing will become cores. D:
