Mother1 -> Prize code fairness suggestion (6/16/2013 17:29:14)

I have been seeing people complain about prize codes left and right saying they are unfair because

1 they favor a different timezone
2 People in the right time zone get one for each of their characters not leaving none for others
3 they always post for the same time zone and their time zone gets the short end of the stick

Well while I can't suggest something to help number 1 on the list (Since no matter what prize codes depending on when they are released will favor some time zones and kick rocks to others) I have ideas for 2 and 3 on the list.

For two make it so one only character in a master account can get the rare item and limited it to one per IP address. With this in play people who like to hoard the items for themselves will be stopped in their tracks so others can get the items.

For number 3 have it so the total the staff wants to give out is broken down into 4 different drops and the same prize code is restocked each time.

Example

say the staff wants to give out 1000 of an item. By following my suggestion there would be 250 of said item per code stock. and if you combine this with the first idea it will make it so that 1000 different people get this item of all different time zone rather then the same group of people. With this it would be more fair to those of different time zones (since there will be four prize drops at 4 different times) the same people who got the code the first time can't hoard the items (since the code only works one time per character) and 1000 or the amount they want to give out of the item will go to that amount of different people (since it is limited to one character to Master account and IP address)

so what do you think?

Great idea
Supported!

Firstly, The devs would be very tired to give it out in 4 different time zones. What if they have to wake up 5am in the morning just for prize code?

This may be hard to code but I have seen other games doing it.
When someone gets banned, they try to make another account or play from another account right? Some games block the IP so even if they make a new account it will not work however the master account thing should be no problem at all.

Actually, 1st can also be fixed.
Simply by giving the codes on one day, 3 times, 6 hours inbetween. Or multiple days but still with 6 hours between it.
It's not that hard..

For 2, supported. This has always been an issue, although it can still be avoided by Ip changers, it will still take up time from these *kuch* greedy people *kuch*.
For 3, totally supported. This was the case with Deathbringer, the 2nd release was still the same code, which made it possible to have the sword twice for alot of players.
The 3rd release was with the same code, making it impossible for ppl who already had it to claim it, which is totally fair.

Actually it is. If only you was a developer, you would see how stressed you would be.

Good one.

I don't think there will ever be fairness about prize code rewards.

Simply because, just as fame was meant for getting more people across socializing networks to visit ED, prize code giveaways was meant to force people follow devs twitters. Yes, force, because otherwise they wouldn't have given away cool items.

Since they repeatedly ignored raging players who missed out, it is crystal clear that prize codes are not meant to become more fair, otherwise they won't hit the target.

Tho Not really top priority, since after all they are "free"
