*A starship lands onto the ground*
Odessa: Thank goodness you’re back! Our situation is…grim.
Braddock Steele: Yeah, those Shadowscythe Warships are breaking through our defenses like a titanium sledge hammer through wet toilet paper.
Char: …How bad…is it?
Odessa: Over half of our defending forces have already been destroyed.
Odessa: We are outnumbered, outgunned, and the enemy command ship with its elite guard has just arrived.
Odessa: It is moving into attack position as we speak.
Odessa: I’m not sure how this could get any worse.
*Maria5 appears behind Odessa and activates her energy blade, with sparks flying from her*
Maria5: Perhaps I can help you understand.
<You>, Braddock Steele, Odessa: ???
*Maria stabs Odessa and then your character fights her*
Odessa: It’s ok! I am only wounded…
*Maria lays on the ground, twitching*
<You>: What was that about?
Char: I’ll take a look.
Odessa: Has she ever shown signs of aggression before?
<You>: No…she was a bit obsessed with you, Queenadent Odessa, but it didn’t seem out of the ordinary at the time.
Char: That’s…strange. It seems she was programmed with some sort of…sleeper agent protocol!
<You>: How does that happen?
Char: It has to do with how she was programmed. That said…this is not what she was programmed for.
Odessa: What do you mean?
Char: I mean her functions have been tampered with.
Char: Her sleeper agent protocols were bypassed with a function set to assassinate the Queenadent!
Odessa: What!? Who could be behind this?
Char: I’ve seen this kind of hack job recently. It looks similar to the those I’ve seen in other EbilCorp hardware.
<You>: Mr. Z…
Odessa: I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. He never got over Slugwrath’s removal from office.
*Bright lights show Char tampering with Maria’s programming*
Char: Just a little more and…Got it! She’s not quite back to her original state, but reactivation is possible now. I removed the EbilCorp hacks.
Odessa: Right. Braddock, be prepared for anything.
Braddock Steele: I don’t want to have to step in, but I’m ready for the worst.
Char: Activating…now!
Maria5: Stop‼‼ … Wait….What’s happening?
Odessa: Are you okay?
Maria5: I’m so sorry! I was able to see everything but there was nothing I could do to stop it!
Odessa: It’s all right. EbilCorp tampered with your programming. They caused you to do those things. We know you didn’t choose this.
<You>: We’re just glad you’re okay.
Maria5: Yes. And I’m sorry to you, too. I would never try to harm yo-
<You>: …
Braddock Steele: Oh boy…
Maria5: I am Maria5. I was sent here by The Secret Order of the Dragon to find the Chosen One. I have found (him/her).
Maria5: Designation: <You>. I relay reports of your progress to The Order.
Maria5: You will take me to an asteroid nearby that contains the key to this planet, and to the universe’s survival.
Odessa: W…What?
Braddock Steele: <You> is our most skilled soldier here. If we lose (him/her), we’re done for!
Safiria: You can trust us to stand in <You>’s place while (he/she) is gone.
<You>: If I don’t go, we’re done for anyway. I have to take this chance.
Maria5: There is no debate. There is one option. We must leave immediately.
Odessa: Right. We’ll keep up the fight here. You need to get going immediately.
<You>: Right!
*The scene turns to inside of your starship*
<You>: This is <You>.
Tek: Hey! I hope you don’t mind, but I took the liberty of making some improvements to your Starship.
Tek: You’ll find the activation button on your dashboard.
T: Save it for when you really need the firepower.
<You>: Got it. Thanks a bunch, Tek!
*The Starship takes off, and you enter a ten-stage sequence where you have a chance to fight up to ten enemies. Afterwards, the asteroid appears*
