It's unfair that Mercenary hasn't got shields for example Cyber Hunter has Defense Matrix and Tactical Mercenary has Blood Shield but Mercenary has no way of defending itself from Malf and Smoke besides the Assault Bot which is a weak bot due to it's low damage.

Ok 2 things

1 this should be in the balance section if anything since this is a suggestion about balance

2 Merc's at one point did have a defensive buff in the form of blood shield. However due to players complaining about merc's lacking 2 passives, they took out blood shield and replaced it with adrenaline.

Yes, mercs probably need one or two defensive buffs, or a modified form of intimidate. In my tier list analysis a while back merc was ranked weakest, even with static smash, because they lacked debuff counters.
