Hiya DragonFablers!

    Pirate is one of the first Classes brought up when discussing Class revamps- and for good reason. It is really out of date and subpar in comparison even to the Base Classes by this point. But Pirate still has its share of really neat ideas that I would love to see implemented into the Class if revamped in the future. Pirate should be about quirky and fun Skills more than other Classes. :)

    Here are two prominent examples I have noticed:

    1) Potions: The Rogue version of Pirate's last left-side Skill, Pickpocket, could be made available to all players and used as the primary recovery method of Pirates. No other Class really supports frequent use of Potions- which people tend to shirk from- but Pirate could completely turn that around with a Skill that gives the player a Health or Mana Potion.

    2) Multi-Hit Multi-Attack: Pirate is the only Class in DragonFable with an attack that hits all enemies more than once. If I heard correctly while DragonLord was being revamped, Strength, Intellect, and Dexterity benefit a Skill that has damage broken up across multiple hits more than Skills that only hit once. It would be fitting if Pirate's Multi-Attack packed a bit more of a punch, considering they are using a gun.

    pohatu -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (9/22/2013 16:59:01)

    I've been playing with the Pirate class fairly often recently, and one of the things that strike me - has has been mentioned before - is that it is slightly under-powered overall. Or maybe the Riftwalker I'm used to controlling is just overpowered.

    Either way, the Pirate class is awesome. I particularly like the art and design and the way the character is made to look very Pirate-y and laid back.

    Most skills are decent, such as the 'Pistol' and 'Swordplay' (Warrior) combo, and the 'Sea legs' (Warrior) skill does the job considering it doesn't require any mana. I absolutely LOVE the 'Summon Crackers' and 'Stun' skills, and think they're a very fun way of incorporating piratical animals and behaviour into combat situations.

    Otherwise, 'Scurvy' quickly becomes less useful over time as its effect borders on insignificant the more one progresses through the levels. Likewise, skills that should be readily available such as 'Sneaky' and '1st Mate Aid' feel underwhelming as combat situations don't always fulfill the requirements for using said skills.

    Also, the +70 enemy Crit chance for 'Shout' is quite risky, but that's part of the fun of being a pirate.

    'LimeAid' works wonders, 'Cannon' is somewhat decent and 'Pirate Ghost' could benefit from a bigger ghost and a boost to damage. Overall, it's a pretty solid class for low-level players.

    Need an upgrade. That's it, I suppose... :P
    Well, the whole class need is pretty fun to use, but it is not a good class! Not at all...
    That's all from me. :D

    Lord Ferret -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (9/22/2013 17:25:36)

    Pirate Class needs an update. Although I rarely ever use this class I have noticed some that do and also complain about the skills and ability's it holds or doesn't hold.
    Faerdin has made a good point in saying Potions and Multi Attack needs revamping. I do not use Pirate armor to often but I use it on TLaPD only.

    Midnightsoul -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (9/23/2013 20:18:02)

    Like the others, this needs an update.

    afb728 -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (9/23/2013 20:40:34)

    I don't ever play with this class, but I was pleasantly surprised by how effective Mazurek was this release, despite her low number of pirate skills. If a guest that only has a few skills can be that valuable, then the entire class should be at least passable.

    CasshernX -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (2/14/2014 3:15:41)

    Evolved Pirate Armor anyone?

    Time for an upgrade, maybe a similar way we upgrade DragonLord?

    Icestar_0 -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (2/14/2014 3:43:22)

    Perhaps we could call it Captains Armor?
    It would definitely be good to see an update on this class. I've never used it much as it has always seemed underpowered.

    Dracojan -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (2/14/2014 6:16:21)

    i really liked it a lot when it was first released. power creep has ruined it now. i very rarely use it and im sad because thats the case. the new bosses that are unbeatable with it dont make it any easier for me to choose it.

    Melissa4Bella -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (9/1/2014 15:30:53)

    Bumping this discussion in order to add Dread Pirate Armor to the discussion.

    flashbang -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:01:04)

    Pirate revamp is out for testing.

    deather98 -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:02:29)

    omg, leave this test set as the way it works now. I love it me mateys!!!

    Alm Nullamors -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:09:12)

    Oh gosh, those joke resists... [:D]

    The ErosionSeeker -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:36:03)

    Um, wow, Cannon is good.
    Rapid Multi seems to be missing a few frames in its animation, unless the wiggling arm movement *is* the entire action, which is still pretty awesome.

    Nevermind, still awesome fast multi.

    ninnin90 -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:41:26)

    I love the way the new test/preview pirate works for the most part but I do have a few minor gripes..

    - Backstab in my opinion is too weak to deserve a dedicated turn of giving up damage to cast it (does ~30-40 dmg for me). I suggest either making it at least a good 10 dmg stronger, or making it a bit weaker so that it can be the class' passive skill (like the DeathKnight's necrotic aura).

    - the descriptions for the 'Avast!' and 'Plank' skills are a little opaque. I can tell what they do by looking at the stats of the monster before and after using the skills, but they don't outright tell you the exact effects when looking on the monster's status
    screen

    But other than those two things, I think the class is amazing! I feel it has very good balance of offence and defence with the ammount of buffs and enemy nerfs it has.

    Another way I think the class could be improved would be, since I suggested that backstab be removed and made a passive, perhaps the empty skill slot could be used for something like a skill that buffs one's pets and/or party members? (maybe call it something like 'Round o' Grog' or 'Sea Shanty', or something?)

    flashbang -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:45:41)

    If you mean the empty skill slot above the rest, that's for trinket skills.

    Ash -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:46:19)

    The class won't get a passive since Ninja didn't get one. Backstab is mainly there for those bosses that do 4+ hits in a turn. Backstab -> Sea Legs and you do 20% of your damage x number of enemy hits done. It's giving you damage output on a turn where you'd normally be taking none so in essence a "reflect" skill like Pumpkinlord's or Ninja's.

    I can look into making it buff guests instead and totally remove the reflect effect. Pet's I'm honestly not sure of mainly because they're setup in a weird self-contained way that may cause issues if I poke too much.

    133spider -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:46:38)

    on mobile testing out this class and writing this post, this.class is pretty fun to use and the cannon is really strong now

    will dread pirate be affected with the revamp or will it stay the same?

    It'll get the same skill set once I'm done with DA testing. ~Ash

    flashbang -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:49:11)

    Will Pirate get an art update? Just curious because I know Ninja is going to get one, as will Ranger and Paladin.

    Not sure. Maybe if Rags wants to after Ninja? Up to her and Tomix though. ~Ash

    Dragonknight315 -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:49:47)

    You know, that makes me think of something. What is the point of Dread Pirate? I get it that it had some differences from the original, but still.

    It's a spoof of the Princess Bride and the Dread Pirate Roberts. There's...really no other explanation other than Cysero got bored and made it. *shrugs* ~Ash

    Fair point. If Cysero is involved, then abandon all logic. XD

    Frost Moglin -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:56:39)

    Cysero got bored and made it, a good explanation for anything.
    But anyways, I just noticed I hadn't actually trained pirate before much for some reason, so I'll have to train it up now. I'll post my opinions after maxing it and testing around a bit.
    Does 1st Mates Aid mean after the enemy resists a stun or after I resist a stun?
    Nevermind, found out right after posting.

    flashbang -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 17:58:36)

    As with Ninja, I have to train this up.

    Frost Moglin -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 18:01:10)

    What does Sneaky do? I assume it's some buff, but I can't see what it is due to my resistance to too many elements.

    Edorath -> RE: =DF= Pirate/Dread Pirate Armor Discussion Thread (3/21/2015 18:03:31)

    The new Pirate class is pretty good, and the Shield+Backstabbing combo can be pretty powerful if used correctly.

    The only thing that was sort of off for me was that despite being a Pirate class, it didn't have much dirty playing and stuff. I guess our char doesn't play dirty cuz he's the Hero and all that.
