Stabilis -> Lack of Strategical Skills (10/7/2013 9:25:11)

It has been, what, 4 or 5ish years since Alpha was released? For the first year, the class year, and Omega (and some small releases), we have had our selection of skills changed. Either: skills were swapped for different ones, or new skills were added.

Why are we stopping now?It is like, whenever a skill core is released, it is new, or it resembles an existing attack with different art. I thought Titan said that skill cores have over 100 different fields to customize them, but these skill cores are not anything we have not done before. There are some exceptions, like Heart Attack, and maybe... maybe Improbability Gate.

So. For the most part all we get is some mutation of an attack, but where did all the strategical skills go? We could use many more than what we have, if EpicDuel is meant to expand the gameplay.

I agree. There should be a release with tons of new and exciting cores as soon as possible, cause so far gameplay tends to get a bit boring. People say the Forced Strike is OP, I think it's genius. If we had more cores like these, it'd bring the excitement back.

Isn't there even a whole thread with core suggestions on the forum? Devs could easily pick some from there and implement them, it's really not that hard. And hopefully they /stay/ in game. Cores that go rare is a no-no.

@ Martinsen5

Yes there is a thread for that in this section of the site. Also when one turn can make or break you a core that can literally force you to do something you don't want to do is extremely game breaking.
If one turn wasn't so make or break then I could agree but now I can't.

However I can agree with you about there needing to be new cores in the game. Back during the infernal war I remember when everyone was making suggestions on how to make Massive strike 'more balanced' because it made crits a nightmare for them. Heck I even remember someone going as far as suggesting a item core that would completely counter all primary cores just because of massive strike.

But on that last part they already made cores that rip off rare cores.

Frostbite = frost shards
Heart attack = Azreal's torment
Stun shot = Stun blast aux

martinsen5 -> RE: Lack of Strategical Skills (10/7/2013 11:59:28)

@Mother1, Well yeah, as it stands right now, Forced Strike is far superior to other active sidearm cores. However, if they were to implement a ton of new cores, people would have to pick between the many. Maybe some cores become an even better alternative to Forced Strike, or even counters it. I have no idea, but more variety I believe is the best way to handle it, rather than changing the core completely as I've noticed many have suggested.

Ranloth -> RE: Lack of Strategical Skills (10/7/2013 12:00:34)

^ This. More active Gun cores would probably indirectly nerf Azrael's Will. Counters that could be used - yet not directly countering the core - and variety which could give you different form of advantage.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Lack of Strategical Skills (10/7/2013 23:48:57)

IMO cores in itself were the wrong way to go. They really provide a single-use effect so they lack true strategic value of having repetitive and energy costing properties, which is why I personally believe that reworking the 3 evolved classes would have been a much better idea than making the current bland cores that really don't host many unique ideas.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Lack of Strategical Skills (10/8/2013 0:30:39)

@exploding penguin.
i do agree with that a bit, i wasn't very thrilled with the cores, especially since some of them would be exclusive to rares.

toopygoo -> RE: Lack of Strategical Skills (10/8/2013 15:42:27)

well, while we are on the topic of cores, i think there are so much more we could be doing with them, that they dont want to take advantage of, but could be:

making 1 core that is WAY different than the rest will make it seem OP. making 5 cores that are all extremely strong and different and ACCESSIBLE wil make the one single one not OP cause it can be combatted. that is how it should be gone about. allowing people to counter strong cores with their own, in a different means.

I.E. someone shoots you with azraels will, you can return fire with a core that depletes 25% rage, and changes it into HP recovered.

sure that sounds OP right now, but in battle i think after you lose a turn, it would be closer to averaging things out. and if all of these are accessible, and anyone can get them, nobody can say its too strong, because they can simply obtain their own
