Note: This is purely my opinion / idea for the ED Database.

If the character is under level 20, that has not logged in and hasn't played since 2012-2013 or so will be cleansed/deleted.
Level 10 characters and below should also be cleansed, if they were not able to login and played atleast once in 2013.

This will grant active users a chance to get the name that was taken by inactive users.

If not that format:

If the character is under level ##, that has not logged in and hasn't played since ####-#### or so will be cleansed/deleted.
Level ## characters and below should also be cleansed, if they were not able to login and played atleast once in ####.

I think there might be problems with players who have paid money in the game.

Ok not supported.

One they already did a cleanse a couple of months back during the near beginning of omega. Not only that what about players who have done the following.

1 took a break from epic duel with the intent to comeback
2 have real life issues that keep them from getting to log on
3 Players who have spend money on the game for their name or anything else
4 Players who have ultra rare or rare items they can never get again (From Delta and before.)

Those players would be furious if this happened since they decide to come back to the game log in and find out their character or characters were deleted without their knowledge.

Criteria would need to something like this in my opinion:

  • Under level X
  • X amount of time passed since last log in
  • Has not logged in more than X amount of times
  • Has not purchased any amount of Varium
  • Does not have any HeroMart prize items
  • Does not have any rare weapons, achievements etc.

Process would need to be something like this in my opinion:
  • Send an email to the email registered with the account notifying them that their character(s) may be deleted.
  • If player does not return in X amount of days after receiving the email, then the character may be "deleted/cleansed".

We already do clear the database from time to time for names, last time over 5,000,000 names were freed up by the clearance. However there are some extremely strict rules we have to enforce when doing so, such as that they have to have been inactive for a set amount of time (usually 2-3+ years), they must not have purchased Varium at any point, and multiple other checks that take place. This is to ensure that, as stated above, some of those issues do not arise. We also do this manually to make sure that players clearly know when we are clearing names, so if any do know people or of accounts that have not been played, they can login and play them before. However with such a large inactive period it eliminates most of those inactive due to life stuff or taking a break etc. since if they do leave for that long, they will likely understand why there character has disappeared - of course, if it ticks all the criteria for being deleted.
