DeathGuard -> DeathGuard's Oversoul Art Gallery (12/1/2013 20:38:37)

Hi everyone!
First of all, thanks for visiting this art gallery.
I'm now to explain a bit of my art history:
Since a young child, I have been drawing from crayon sketches to oil and acrylic paints. I have narrowed the path of the artist for more than 9 years, progressing from what I get from every single feedback. My art is greatly influence by fantasy and mecha based games. Sometimes a bit too dark for the taste of many people, due to instant tragedies or turn backs in my life. I have noticed most of my art has always some bit of the sadness in this world, which I have happened to tried expressing more and more over the years. I have great inspirations all over around me and have grown trying to improve the art lvl of great artists like Charfade, NightWraith, Tomix, Dage the Evil, and other several AE artists. You could also say I have drawn what has hurt me in my life, maybe to surpass what has grown deep inside and still consumes that bit of happiness I always have.
Being the youngest of two sons, I have seen the harshness of how family influences your art, and how they want to control your ideas and thoughts. People normally have asked me where do I get all this ideas from but even after almost one decade, I haven't been able to express so freely about it to be exact. The idea just comes, it sounds like some blatant thought but it is instant, even though that doesn't really covers all the theme.

Now lets get back to the art stuff!
The images have direct links to the original one so don't be shy to click on one of them!

Here are some of the OS characters I have made.

Very interesting artwork you have here. I like your style, it is very unique and makes your drawings nice to look at. I must say though, your Revontheus fan art has me completely mesmerized. The amount of detail in the drawing is perfect, combined with the excellent use of colours just made it stand out the most for me. A cold stare and a sinister wing, excellent! I also like the style of that drawing, has a cool mech look to it.

My second favourite would have to be the Prismatic Dragon forms. It seems well-done. All that detail into the drawing yet it doesn't look excessive, or too much.

You seem to put a lot of work into your drawings, I can tell. I commend you for your great drawings and hope you make some more.

Mritha -> RE: DeathGuard's Oversoul Art Gallery (12/1/2013 22:23:20)

Lobo and the Prismatic Dragon I think are my personal favorites. Lobo reminds me of a good friend of mine who's character is a wolf rider, and I love the detail for the dragon. The wings change suddenly however from the Apprentice rank to the Master, starting more jointed and ending up with only two different wing sections as opposed to five. Seems like a strange change, he lost his bones!

The Finnish Phoenix -> RE: DeathGuard's Oversoul Art Gallery (12/1/2013 22:23:57)

These are gorgeous! I'll do whatever I can to help you get a char in-game because it'd be a crime if you never got one with such ability. I was also touched when I read what you wrote about trying to draw what hurts you and drawing inspiration from painful family experiences. Being the youngest of three children with divorced parents and at times unstable siblings I feel like I can relate although I know these things are very much unique from one person to the next.

They're all very good but I particularly love your shading on Gate Keeper Rae, Ralius, and your Revontheus. It gradiates ever so slightly from the light source to the edges and it's very striking and realistic. I think my favourite of yours are your Prismatic Dragons though since the shapes they're comprised of fit together so naturally and the way the scales extend into eachother makes it look very alive.

EDIT: haha we all posted within two and a half minutes and all mentioned Prismatic Dragon, awesome.

Prismatic Dragon is certainly my favorite. If I remember correctly it was inspired to be steampunk! The evolutions compliment each other so wonderfully! [;)]

@Deathguard I approve of your Legendary Pyre Witch, I hope there would be a lot of Fire Whirls and Burns.

@Jmagician: Thank you! I like a lot the Revontheus Fan Art too! I really loved the way it looks, and Revontheus said it was a nice work so I felt even better XD
Prismatic Dragon is indeed one of my best artworks, Skurge was one of the inspirations there. Steampunk FTW!
Yeah, art isn't just a hobby for me, it is a lifestyle I had like to dedicate my life to. I appreciate your amazing post!

@Mritha: Lobo was inspired From Lupus the Wolf, he is a great artist so I decided making some wolf based character and I loved the images I had for his animations. Sadly, I can't animate it xD
About Prismatic, I indeed took in mind his appearance and joints, I thought reducing its joints would help in his movements due to his excessive large body. As always, thank you for the feedback.

@TFP:Thank you, several people had said they want me to win next contest with one of my designs and that makes me really happy! Yeah, experience really change your point of view and lifestyle, I used art to express my feelings and emotions since I didn't like speaking.
Gate Keeper Rae was inspired on the attitude of a dear friend and retains one of her name: Rae.

Prismatic Dragon has brought good feedback. Nice job mate! *winks* XD

@Skurge: You're correct there, you were the inspiration of the steampunk-ness. Glad to see you around, you had support me a lot with my art lately. Thank you.

@Bjeble: I approve your comment as well. I'm hoping for a really cool Pyre Witch Legendary as well a Barbarian! Thank you for your comment! ^-^

@All: Thank to you all for posting here, it makes me really glad people like my art, makes me want to do more art!
I thank in advance to future fellow forumers posting here too.

Megadragonknight -> RE: DeathGuard's Oversoul Art Gallery (12/3/2013 7:19:13)

@Deathguard
All of your artwork is super amazing! I personally love ice dragon, Prismatic Dragon and Cyrano the grand summoner! Very great artwork, Deathguard.

Beck -> RE: DeathGuard's Oversoul Art Gallery (12/4/2013 1:21:01)

Your shading technique is quite good, especially considering it's traditional media and not fancy things like Photoshop (hello easy undo button!) xD
One thing I'd watch for is that when you do faces, you are either drawing the eyes too big, or drawing them too close together; it throws off the expressions and perspective a bit.
The wolf rider one is my favorite; nice, crisp lines and soft shading that fits the picture perfectly.

Keep developing your skills!

DeathGuard -> RE: DeathGuard's Oversoul Art Gallery (12/4/2013 21:18:21)

@Megadragonknight: Thanks! Redingard gave me an insight of how he wanted Crayon(Cyrano) to be, so I tried to work on it. I'm remaking it again for next contest.

@Lord Beck: Thank you! I have been told about the eye things, will definitely practice about the distance ratio and the expressions to make them look more natural.
Glad you liked the wolf rider, few people actually take it in mind xD
