It looks kinda similar to a Paraceratherium, but slightly more "chubby" and not as tall.

Lord Darkblade -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/6/2014 14:26:19)

So, a cowlephant?

kkutwar -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/6/2014 16:46:13)

So, besides the random Overspark users what kind of defensive force does Geartown have? Oh, and how much more durable/stronger are the robots Geartown has than humans? In addition, could you explain more about the construction/formation/whatever of Geartown and the facilities within?

Chazero -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/9/2014 6:31:48)

@V_Phantom
Aigis is a girl.

Lemonus -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/9/2014 6:59:38)

So, do I still have a chance at this?

Rez -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/9/2014 7:30:45)

@^: Yep it is early and apps are not closed, feel free to apply.

V_Phantom -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/9/2014 14:23:03)

@KK: Well, their "military" is their primary defense during enemy attacks. Right now, they are still hesitant to implement a more complex defense system, because the last time they tried that, they ended up trapped in an unbreakable shell. And, as I've already mentioned, they are also unwilling to upgrade their robots for combat out of paranoia, too.

Speaking of which, their automatons are quite resilient, and even when they are temporally incapacitated, they're surprisingly easy to repair, and they rarely require spare parts, because their components were built to last. That said, they are also quite "sluggish" most of the time. The development of live-like robots, (like the ones Aigis and the old-lady were building) is a relatively recent development, and they're still on their "infancy" when compared to the reliability of the older machines.

To be frank, I still haven't thought about that aspect too well. As I've mentioned, my objective with this story is to write without worrying too much about every single detail before doing so, as over-planning has already killed (or left on indefinite hiatus) a lot of my stories before. So, I accept suggestions and ideas regarding that matter. One of the things that I can confirm right now, is that most buildings have electricity and other "basic services" we've grown accustomed to use in modern times. (no, there's no Internet, though)

@Chazero: I know... Sorry for the typos. I think I've fixed them, but be sure to inform me in case I missed something.

Useless Trivia of the day: One of my most common mistakes when it comes to writing seems to be mixing up gender-related pronouns and titles... For some odd reason that I can't begin to fathom. It doesn't happen THAT often, but it's really annoying when it does.

@Lemonus: What Rez said... So, yeah; feel free to submit a profile if you feel like joining up.

Legendium -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/9/2014 15:10:34)

I hope my biological analysis wasn't too detailed... I had to invent a few points... I hope this doesn't conflict with anything.

Also, would I be correct in assuming that the Hounds have a virus/parasite that's controlling them? Or gives them their own intelligence at the cost of a sooner death? Or something that affects their brain?

V_Phantom -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/10/2014 23:38:46)

Nah, it's OK. In fact, you were right about them relying on numbers instead of tactics in order to overwhelm they prey and their eagerness to consume them on the spot. The description of their "illness" isn't exactly what I had in mind, but I like it better than my version, because it's slightly more subtle, so I'll go with that instead.

And yes, there's something affecting their brains, and it's kinda similar to a parasite... But that's merely a half of the truth. You'll all find eventually, but that's part of a major quest we'll see later on. But I can assure you, the autopsy of these creatures is gonna reveal some really interesting info.

kkutwar -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/12/2014 20:03:28)

Sorry for not having already posted, I just now realized you updated. I've been busy with Netflix the past couple of days, so I hadn't actually spent much time with the Internet. Though, before I post how easy is it to kill a normal run-of-the-mill Abyssal Hound? Hal would want to use the minimal amount of energy possible, and I figured skewering a normal Hound with a dozen rock spikes would be overkill.

V_Phantom -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/16/2014 17:45:27)

They are more resilient than a real life wolf, but not to the extend of them needing a Rasputinian amount of punishment to be taken down. A heavy strike into their vital organs or the head is enough to incapacitate them... Under normal circumstances, that's it. Remember that this batch isn't exactly normal, and that with the tension of the moment, and with his sister's security being top-priority for him right now, Hal might have not noticed that yet.

Edit: By the way, I'd recommend for you to edit the "Mood" part, because "Hal" isn't a valid emotion... I think. (Unless, he's just thinking about himself right now... Which would be rather strange, and jarring.)

Yet ANOTHER Edit: I apologize for the recent lack of updates, but I was waiting for Darkblade to post his part, because I can't write Silvar's part without knowing what Jason will do.

Besides, I'll be absent during this weekend, so there won't be updates until Monday even if Darkblade posts before that day. Overall, I apologize if things have been going slowly... I hate when that happens, because I detest to be the one that keeps holding back everyone else, but I'll try to be faster and more consistent once I return from what I have to do this weekend.

That said, I don't promise anything, because when you have to deal with clinical depression, there are days when you can't write a darn thing no matter how hard you try... Hell! There are days when you can't get up from the darn bed because how bad you feel... It ****ing sucks, I can tell you that for a fact... But, I'll try to do my best.

kkutwar -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/16/2014 19:00:22)

Basically "Mood: Hal" means he has his emotions completely under control. Whenever his mood actually changes to something else, he's almost completely consumed by it until it runs its course or something else of major effect happens. Though he's unlikely to feel positive emotions to that extent besides Relief, and that's only if he was worried beforehand.

Lord Darkblade -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/17/2014 7:20:09)

Scheisse, sorry, had a short term of RL issues. Will post reply soon.

V_Phantom -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/31/2014 2:25:25)

I apologize for the long delay since the last update... I was kinda busy with some real-life related business... Some rather nasty stuff, that despite NOT directly affecting me, it managed to seriously shake me up nonetheless... There are some things that are rather shocking to someone suffering from clinical depression, even "from the distance".

Needless to say, I needed some time to recover before trying to write again... And still, it's not a complete update because kkutwar's part is still missing... But, since he always takes his sweet time in order to do anything, I figured I could write it later anyway...

Chazero -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/31/2014 2:32:18)

I'm glad the game is still on and I hope you recover soon.

Legendium -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/31/2014 5:07:13)

Yeah, I'm glad it's still up too.

Also, I would like to know around how big the hounds are. Maquinista has a pretty big freezer at home, but I kinda want to know if she could actually fit two corpses in there. Plus she might be able to sling both over her back, but for now she only has one.

Rez -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/31/2014 12:20:43)

Nice to see you back in action, and as always nice update.

kkutwar -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (5/31/2014 18:08:24)

I don't actually ignore posting (or working on projects) intentionally, there's just so many things I want to do (which further refines me in the process). I'll try to respond sooner than the last two updates. By the way, can we make suggestions regarding Oversparks and Overspark upgrades? I see Hal as a "Skilled & Neat" kind of person, so really anything works but personally speaking I don't see him as the kind of person to shoot fire/ice/lightning from his hands.

V_Phantom -> RE: Overspark Quest OOC (6/5/2014 22:00:51)

@kkutwar: We'll see about that... Otherwise, I'll start believing certain people's "conspiracy theory" about you deliberately doing (or NOT doing, on this case) things to annoy people until they reach their breaking point.

And about players making suggestions about how the powers will evolve... I don't actually have any objection about that, but be aware of two important details:
a) They are just that: Suggestions. Ultimately, I decide what goes and what doesn't when it comes to powers, so don't get too carried away.
b) That said, it's still too early to start worrying about those things. Right now, none of the player characters is even close to awakening a new power, so yeah...

@Rez: I've got a little question: Out of Silvar's two brothers, who would be the most Hot-Blooded/prone-to-impulsive-outbursts? And, for that matter, what else could be said about those close to Silvar, personality-wise? If you you'd prefer to keep that info undisclosed for the other players, you can send it to me via PM.

I'll post KK's update missing update soon enough... As well as the upcoming update for everyone else, too... That's the advantage of most the stories being separated right now, I guess...
