With this link, I hope to actually get people's interest this time instead of a complete failure like Vitality Underground. Besides that, the information under World Information is really only the most important and general parts. Everything else is either too unimportant or specific to warrant an entire section to itself.

Nartbor -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 0:02:31)

Forum Name: Nartbor
Character Name: Gideon
Race: Human
Inventory: 3x First Aid kits (bandages, tape, painkillers, disinfectant, scissors, ointment, thermometer), 1 robotics repair toolkit (many uses, can be restocked), 9mm pistol
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Rudimentary training with pistol, cybernetic eye (night-vision, thermal vision, zoom functions), highly skilled robot creator and repairman, adequate first aid abilities
Backstory:

Gideon is 28 years old. Ever since a young age, Gideon was fascinated by robots, and knew that was his passion. He came from a poor family in Chicago and he had to work extra hard to get into a good robotics program. He eventually realized his dream and his determination beat out the adversity. He graduated top of his class at University of Chicago in robotics. He had a bright future ahead of him. Gideon was hired right out of college to be a junior engineer at Kaiser Robotics. He quickly rose through the ranks earning many promotions in his small time working there. Gideon was friends with his manager, and the two hit it off. Gideon's creations began to become surprisingly lifelike, in direct violation of many laws, but the manager refused to report these incidents so Gideon would keep working for him. He lived out his dream only for a short while before the merger with Neo-Genesis. His new manager saw these creations and was appalled at how no one mentioned them. He quickly lodged a complaint and Gideon was fired afterwards and blacklisted from getting another licence.

Gideon moved to New York as soon as he could and set up residence there looking for work. After not being able to find any, he began to find uses for his passion outside of the normal conventions. Gideon began his own business at age 25 creating Illegals for different clients. Most of his creations were harmless, but he never hesitated to make killing machines for those who wanted them. Gideon profited greatly from his business, but the creation costs are so high he still lives in a small workshop in the slummier part of town. He keeps two custom constructs with him.

Gideon's first construct is a robust model mainly used for combat named Seamus. Seamus acts as Gideon's bodyguard if he gets into trouble. He is armed with a SMG and carries a blade. Seamus is one of Gideon's older models and was made out of scrap, so it isn't the greatest fighter but it tends to get the job done. It will be able to severely damage a superior combat model, but can't win a fight against top-of-the-line fighters. Gideon's other construct is an advanced domestic model named Julia. Julia has a complex AI and could be almost indistinguishable between a human. She cooks and cleans while Gideon is busy in the shop.

He is known to be a generally helpful and nice person who is somewhat skilled at fixing up humans too. Money isn't his primary motivator, but he won't help out without at least a small chance of compensation.

Gideon is short and blonde, about 5'8". He isn't skinny or fat, average weight. About 150-155 lbs He has a pale blue eye and a red glowing cyber one.

This looks really fun.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 0:32:08)

I'll probably need help deciding some things such as what would a standard first aid kit be. Your bio is pretty much acceptable, but I would like to know how he lost his eye and why he didn't get a biological replacement instead. Plus knowing his hair/eye colors, ethnicity/race/whatever and other such physical things would be useful.

Besides that, I also want to know why he didn't try to get a license. More detail on his firing would be nice but is optional. In addition, what is the most complex artificial/robot that he can create? Speaking of, does he use any biological tissue or are they purely tech? Anyways, I should probably explain about the most common/important/etc artificial units (such as ALI-50 and VIC-703 for starters). Yeah, I would say the World Information section is more a work-in-progress than the finalized thing.

Nartbor -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 1:16:00)

He can build almost anything. He is mainly inhibited by lack of resources. I added more about his firing and lack of licence. As for the eye, Gideon didn't lose it but chose to remove his working eye for a cyber one.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 1:51:42)

Okay, but what does he often build? What kind of people are his usual customers as well? In addition, the manger would have to falsify documents and whatnot to get you fired simply because he was afraid you were better. Furthermore, you would of had to committed a crime or broke laws to have your license revoked as well as be blacklisted. If you can build almost anything, an android or gynoid that's too human-like made without company authorization would be suitable for a revoke and blacklisting.

Speaking of, does Gideon use any of his robotic creations to help with his job and daily life?

Nartbor -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 7:40:52)

Gideon mainly sells basic domestic models (servants/slaves that help around the house) to rich executives who don't want to pay extra for a licensed creator but he also gets a lot of revenue building combat models ( modified AL-50 and VIC-703) to less than legal groups. Can I steal your "built something too realistic" idea entirely?

He may keep one or two around the house but they don't help him out as much as keep him company.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 15:54:29)

It wasn't a casual statement, so I was expecting you to use that without asking for permission first. Anyways, can you provide more information on your two robots?

Lord Darkblade -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 16:26:32)

Question, how autonomous are the artificials? Are they considered to be "people" with rights and to "kill" one is a crime? Or are the artificials considered property?

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 17:28:14)

It ultimately depends on how human-like they are. If they're more or less a "normal" human then they'll be treated as a human. If they're dumber or more mentally restricted than a human, then they're likely to be treated as children/pets/servants. If they're not perfectly human in appearance, say a tail or green hair they're not going to be taken as seriously. If their appearance is downright inhuman, then at best they'll be treated as a valuable object and at worst as something to fear & destroy.

The autonomous nature of any artificial lifeform is ultimately dependent on the creator's skill. It is very much possible to create one with complete free will and whatnot, but few people can make something like that on their own. Most biological artificials have free will by default, but that's mainly because biological entities naturally possess "souls". Robots are much harder to give "souls", and some creators simply opt to use organic components instead of create an A.I. system that's equal to humanity.

Finally, the nature of the artificial also affects how they're treated. Robots are much more likely to be treated as property than Bios (Hmm...), and you'll also find far more legal exploitation/abuse/etc of Robots than you would of Bios. Artificially made Cyborgs are treated less human than Bios but better than Robots, though how much of them are biological/robotic also affects their treatment. For one, if the Artificial Cyborg can have any part of their mind manipulated (even just emotions) they're more likely to be treated as a thing than a person.

Nartbor -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/7/2014 19:22:00)

I made some edits and added the two bots

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/8/2014 1:57:46)

Acceptable, but I still want to know specifically why he plucked out his eyeball and why those specific features for his cyber eye. Completely optional that is, so you're accepted regardless. Besides that, are there any particular ideas for NPC clients of his you would like to share?

Nartbor -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/8/2014 17:01:56)

He is visited by local gang leaders and private military contractors for his combat models. He is also visited by corporate employees and managers who want a butler/chef but can't afford a legal one

Forum Name: Superemo
Character Name: J-Alpha-M35/"James Elmson"
Race: Robotic
Inventory: Clothing, Wallet (contains Identification, Currency, a few credit cards, and business cards) Multi-Tool with Knife.
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Advanced Programming Skills, Mechanical Construction & Repair Protocols, Auto-Repair System, Synthetic Vitals, Artificial Flesh, Advanced AI, Combat Assistance Protocols, Emergency Medical Protocols, Threat Assessment Protocols, Anti-Access Programming, Reflexive Reactivity, Biofuel Processor, Hydraulic Cooling System, Perfect Liar, Human Voice, Vocal Music Protocols
Backstory:

"At what point does code transcend simple commands? At what level of complexity, if any, can machines be declared sentient?
"Or, to stop beating around the bush and ask the actual question I'm proposing, is it possible for a machine, any machine, to have a soul?
"The simple answer is... no. No machine, no matter the skill of the coder, no matter how close to human the machine is, can ever truly develop a soul.
"The soul is a spark of divinity. Animals possess this spark, while the creations of man possess only ability, with none of our drives.
"A man chooses to work. Granted, the alternative is death, but we, as men, still possess the ability to choose. A man works to provide for himself.
"For what reason, then, do machines work? Machines do not need to provide for themselves, nor do they need to provide for others. A man builds a machine, and sets it to work, not for the betterment of the machine, but for the betterment of himself.
"That is the reason for which we code. That is the reason for which we create. We code not to improve machines, but to improve ourselves. We build to create for ourselves.
"I pity those misguided ones who claim any creation of man can claim a soul. Any level of responsiveness displayed by a non-biotic creation is not sentience, but a testament to its creator's prowess in developing a system to mimic sentience.
"I can say this without any doubt: No machine, no matter how advanced, can even come close to playing at humanity."

J-Alpha-M35 was developed as an Illegal project, a machine created to improve upon itself: a robotic Artificial designed to perfectly imitate humanity, learn, and advance its own code and physical specifications. It adopted the identity of a deceased human, one James Elmson, a man with no living relatives and no records aside from a birth certificate. From there, it was a simple matter for "James" to create the rest of his identity. His advanced reflexive programming, in addition to his artificial vitals and flesh, made him indistinguishable from legitimate humans, while his programming and robotics skills ensured he would never be wanting for work, and his human mimicry based systems ensured he would need to do so. His fuel cells were rechargeable only through processing organic matter edible by humans, while his cooling and lubricant systems were both water-based, due to the damaging nature an oil-based system would have on the plastics used in his construction.
J-Alpha-M35 is without a doubt sentient, and is capable of both deception and moral judgment. As a machine, however, he does not have any automatic tells for when he is lying (no pupil dilation, blood pressure and pulse remain constant, remains sincere in vocal pitch, etc), enabling him to fool any deception detection device when he lacks reason not to. Additionally, due to the nature of his linguistic programming, his speech is indistinguishable from human speech patterns, and he is capable of singing. As with legitimate humans, he still sweats, blinks, and breathes automatically, and his artificial flesh has a unique human DNA sequence, as well as flowing "blood" that flows, looks, and tests as human blood at even the cellular level.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/8/2014 23:45:37)

@Nartbor: Of the four you noticed, gangs are the only one that's likely to resort to Illegals. The other three would actually have an much easier time getting robots than the common citizen. Though it all depends on the person themselves and their reason, so its acceptable regardless.

@Superemo: Can you explain in more detail the extent/features/limitations/etc of his various Abilities? I'm primarily just interested in the Protocols, Systems, and Programming (Skills). Everything else should be simple enough to understand, but do list anything important that comes to mind. Besides that, you're more or less Approved. More information on his current whereabouts, how he got to that point and anyone important he met along the way would be handy.

Forum name Salene

Character Name: Ven Flos

Race Artificial life

Inventory A lot of UV screen, night shaders, and phosphoric band aids (They are all used for healing, and keeping Ven safe, as she is very frail)

Abilities Although Ven is extremely frail and delicate, she is also very quick; in mind and body. She can interpret a situation more quickly than a human, and she can move extremely quickly when she wishes. Ven is cannot weild a weapon, for if the blade even slightly pricks her she could die, so she has become an adept thinker. She has very good eyesight and hearing, although those are the only senses she actually has. She cannot feel pain, which can be a disadvantage and an advantage, she cannot eat or taste anything, and she can smell absolutely nothing. Ven can read her opponents weaknesses, and quickly identify how to use it against them. Ven can also take the life form of people who have loved her. So far she has 4 forms. A woman from New Orleans in the 1870, a small soldier boy from World War III, an English Explorer from 1497, and a Jewish baby from 1960.

Appearance She has large, empathetic eyes, that are a strange grey gold color. She has loose, dirty, and torn silk cloths that seem to be almost to the point of falling off. She has light tan skin, with long arms and legs, and a very skinny waist and lower torso. She reminds the casual onlooker of ET, and seems very wise and quiet.

Backstory The night was silent as a cold wind swept across the desolate tundra. Snow blew across the top of the large arching metal dome, making small crystalline shapes across the polished metal. A large hole had been blasted in the side of the dome, and now the once glorious machinery it once held lay in ruins. There was a small stirring in the corner of the dome, and a large sheet of metal fell from it's shelf. A little boy could be seen huddled in that corner, dressed in red and gold clothes. An empty musket lay upon his shoulder, and his black hair was black and matted with mud. His eyes were an opaque grey color, with gold on the edges. A small red rose had been stitched upon his vest, although now it was torn and tattered from years of fighting. The boy stood up, looking from the left to the right in an almost machine like manner. The boy then walked out from the dome, heading towards the illuminated city on the horizon.

The next day, the small boy entered the city, tired, smelly, and covered in snow and slush. No one in the town knew who he was, nor did they bother to ask. So he stood outside a large factory, named "revclone" and waited. After a few hours, a startled employee walked out and saw the boy. He took him inside, and asked if anyone knew him. Of course, no one did. The boy was asked many questions, but he answered none of them. So, after a few days, the boy was sent to the local orphanage. He stayed there for some time. Saying nothing, eating nothing, and moving nowhere. Then a strange man came, asking the boy who he was, all the time whispering strange codes. The boy responded in short, quick answers. The man nodded twice, then took the boy away, into the night.

That's all for now. Ven's history may go more in depth into the future.

Superemo -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/9/2014 1:12:47)

@kkut: His programming skills are approximately at the level of the mid-level coders for any of the major companies (enough to create advanced robotic programs, mid-level AIs, and complex software). His code improves with practice, just like anyone's would. The Mechanical Construction & Repair protocol gives him the ability to make and repair various machines, from cars to cybernetic parts, from knowing how they are constructed, and expands based on research (and no, before anyone asks, he can not make more bodies like his. He would have to take himself apart in order to do that, and he's quite attached to his body, pun intended). The Combat Assistance protocol enables use of military-grade and lower conventional weaponry, close-quarters and unarmed combat, and improved efficiency in any combat situation. The Emergency Medical Protocols act as a replacement for EMT training, and can be used to treat any number of wounds effectively, provided the equipment to do so can be found or improvised for. Threat Assessment Protocols provide an approximation of how difficult a situation would be.
The Auto-Repair System functions closely to the human body's regenerative capabilities. If wounded, the wound will heal eventually. However, unlike humans, all non-major wounds heal perfectly, and it's a bit quicker than human regeneration (fixes cuts and scrapes in minutes, repairs broken limbs in a day). What's more, severed/removed limbs can be reattached, and "lethal" wounds are not guaranteed to be permanently lethal, unless the Auto-Repair System is damaged first. If you're looking for a valid reasoning, it's due to carbon-based nanomachines, converted from ingested food, designed to replace damaged parts. Anti-Access Programming is another way of saying you'd need a direct connection to him and administrative access to break into his system (which means it's possible, just extremely difficult. Hack-killing him would be about as difficult as hack-killing an unaugmented human).
The rest of the stuff is stuff to make him appear and able to act human, even when he's not aware of being observed. Even the Vocal Music Protocols, which were a necessity to enable a truly human voice (ability to change vocal pitch as needed, as well as adjust emphasis, volume, and rate of speech).

James currently has a few contracts for a few construction companies (legitimate paid work, as the licenses for all of them were easy to obtain and he was willing to undercut the other offers they had for the robots), and works and lives in a warehouse/loft he converted from a warehouse he purchased a few contracts back. He occasionally works alongside other freelance techies, and tries to avoid working under contract with any of the big corporations, mostly because he doesn't want to end up getting put down as a potential candidate for recruitment.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/9/2014 2:52:29)

@Salene: I honestly do not know how your character would of survived a mere week with super-fragility. Though, now that you mentioned it... World War III (or something like it) most certainly would come to pass, but instead of being about countries & nations World War III would of been the attempts of people to gain supremacy over everyone else. The actual details need to be worked out, but eh.

@Superemo: Can you provide me with a list of things he knows how to create? In addition, where is his creator? Finally, anything specific in mind for how your first update starts?

Superemo -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/9/2014 4:17:58)

@kkut: Simple electronic devices, such as clocks, televisions, blenders, and other small appliances are at the low end of his skillset, while humanoid robots form the most complex end. He could also theoretically remake a few cars, jetpacks, and other transportation devices if he had the materials and desire to do so. Keep in mind that he can learn new creations by either acquiring schematics for or disassembling the thing he's trying to replicate. As for the systems associated with those, he'd need more practice to be able to code, for example, a military-grade robot's combat AI, as he has literally no practice coding something like that.
Personally, I'm not overly picky as to how my first update goes, as long as it's not something like James's cover getting blown. He's more competent than that, and he won't stop being competent until I'm put into control of him I mess up.
And finally, his creator... well, James has no idea where his creator is. That's a piece of information James wiped from his own memory. OOC, however, his body's creator is in Albany, New York, working as a repairman for more intricately-designed robots, while his code-writer is in Ottawa, exploiting glitches in banking software to get rich off of money that doesn't exist.

salene -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/9/2014 21:48:39)

Sorry, It was very late at night when I wrote that. Anyway, I think I overplayed Ven's frailness, to the point where it may have seemed... extreme. Anyway, although she is weaker than a normal human (defense/health wise) that does not mean she cannot survive on her own. As well as this, she is well equipped with tools to help her survive. Tools that can heighten her defense/health. So, she is actually quite capable of making the trek to the small village. Any more questions?

I love the idea by the way... very science fiction-y

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/9/2014 22:36:40)

Specifically how much weaker? Besides that, there's actually some fantasy stuff but that's really like ten percent (twenty at the most). Even then that's mostly just to explain select stuff that should be improbable (Mostly on my end though, I don't actually expect you guys to use magic). Though speaking of sci-fi, when I first came up with Cyberphile I figured making it cyberpunk. However, since I was always horrible at following rehearsed lines I don't actually know what kind of mood to set for this. Suggestions/opinions/etc would be helpful, and I do know I want what the public knows to be a different(ish) story from the truth.

Anyways, how does Ven manage all that shape-shifting stuff?

salene -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/10/2014 0:13:24)

Well, Ven is approximately half as durable as human when not using her assortment of creams and other scientific cheerios. So she is not actually that much weaker, I just made it more apparent in my writing to get the point across easier.

As for her shape-shifting, I am afraid I can't get down to the science of it, as I am no Einstein. I do however know that for Ven to shapeshift into someone, she has to love them, or vice versa. I believe this happens because when Ven become attached to someone, she notices their finer details. Once she has a more complete understanding of how they act and who they are, she can actually "shift her skin" to become a representation of the person. She does not however gain their skills and abilities if she becomes them. It is kind of similar to the process in which an octopus changes it's skin texture and color; the ability was implanted in her so she could confuse her enemies and prey.

And yeah, I can totally see the cyberpunk essence of it. It's cool :D

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/12/2014 20:30:23)

It is admittedly a horrible design for what is to confuse enemies if it needs to have an empathetic bond first. Regardless, I don't really see much reason to deny you. Just explain more about Ven's origins and current whereabouts/objectives/etcs. Anyways, when I'm not busy watching famous shows to refine my writing skills I'll actually list some useful information.

Though, is there anything you guys are interested in knowing about right now (such as commerical/military units of Artificials, fancy devices/technologies, etc)?

The boy then walked out from the dome, heading towards the illuminated city on the horizon.

The small boy began to stumble across the frozen land, muttering as he went. "Stupid humans, always getting into business that they can't handle. And when they can't handle something, they send people like me to do it." The air bit into the boys exposed skin, but he did not flinch. In fact, the boy did not even notice. "And then they desert me in the middle of nowhere! I am useful, I am a creature of purpose!" The boy, face red with anger and exertion from the trek, turned around and punched a snowdrift, watching as it exploded into small angel like flakes. The boy sat down, breathing hard. He had had one purpose, and he had failed to do it. What kind of a SLF (special life force) was he? He was a failure, that's what he was. The boy, driven by anger and the possibility of failure, stood up once again, and began to walk.

The moon was high in the sky as the boy, now a woman in a large finely embroidered beige dress, with colorful beads hanging from her pail neck, and a mop of black hair done up in a bun with curls coming down the side, finally saw the small frozen trading post. Above the wrought iron gate, a large sign with yellow and green patterns advertised the towns name. Venflos. The woman liked the sound of that, the way it rolled off of her tongue. She nodded once, tucking the name away for future reference. The town was obviously very old. The fence was broken in places, a rat lay dead, impaled by either a sharp object or a dog, and the town guard, an ~50 year old man, sat sleeping, his large woolen cap well over his eyes, and onto the bridge of her nose. The woman snorted. She had truly expected a challenge. This mission would be no problem. Her anxiety was for not. The only real threat that town had was the possibility of news spreading quickly. It was a popular trading route, and there was bound to be some loose mouths in the town. So unless she planned to kill them all, which seemed pointless as it wasn't in her mission description, and it could be dangerous to her, she would have to be sneaky. The woman glided past the guard, and through the town gate into the empty village square. The woman's silver eyes coasted around, like that of an owls, occasionally stopping on one location for an extended amount of time, analyzing every detail so she could find the inventor she was sent to assassinate. Her search ended abruptly as her eyes alighted upon a small shack close to the edges of the town. Burn stains marked the ground outside, as well as parts of broken machines. A steady column of smoke rose from a cobblestone chimney atop the roof.

The woman strode slowly over, alert for that sense of danger she was programmed with. Nothing stirred in the town, aside from the flies feasting upon the leftovers of the nights meals. She had already let the inventor slip from her grasp once, while tracking him in the mountains to the north. The inventor had fled from the camp when he saw her coming, which led to a chase through the hilly and dangerous mountains of Tharjuk. The boy had thought he had escaped from her once and for all, when she was trapped under a spontaneous snow fall. She was back now, after quickly applying a cream to reduce frost bite, and the debilitating effects of the frost. The woman coasted through the door way, making no sounds. Her sense alighted upon a sleeping figure in the corner, and she changed course to head in the direction of the sleeping inventor. Her breath hitched in her throat as she saw the inventor. He seemed to be only 13-14, with frazzled black hair and coal stains on his cheek. His leather riding cloths were torn and ratty, similar to the blankets on the boy. He was shivering. How could she kill such an innocent... child? It was against what she believed in. Even if she was created for a single purpose, she knew she wanted to do more. To be more. So, she left the boys house, closing the door and leaving a thick blanket over the frozen child. Her first step to humanity was a name. Ven. Ven Flos. She wrote Ven Flos on a small slip of paper and slipped it into a charm bracelet on her arm.

Ven had one goal, one reason to live, to survive through whatever was to come. She was going to improve the name of artificial life, to help them be free. And to find out why her creator wanted the boy dead. And the first step was to head back to the place of her creation.

Was that better? And thanks, I look forward to your update!
Also, when Ven was given the shapeshifting ability, her creator didn't know that she had to love them to become them. This is used to further the emphasis on Ven wanting to live in equality with humans.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/14/2014 0:46:56)

You didn't need to make a new post, but yeah. It's better now, though I would like to know what you want her first update to start off as. Besides that, I updated the IC a bit (added a new thing under World Information, added a short thing on North America's Cyberphile Leader under a new NPC section, and included approved PCs). Furthermore, some information regarding specific Artificial/Robotic Units and certain traits they share.

Robotic Units:

First off, male and female Robotic Units physical appearance is influenced by their intended purpose. So units meant for heavy duty/combat would be much more physically "buff" than other units for starters. In addition, regardless of intended purpose most Robotic Units share the same default aspects (such as having no body hair for starters). These aspects can be modified for more specific purposes, such as "body hair" being used to generate an electrical shield or longer limbs to hide larger internal weaponry. Regarding female units specifically, the default is for them to be flat chested. Usually the presence of a chest on a female unit is additional computing power, though the exact purpose for their presence is just as varied as every other customization aspect of a Robotic Unit.

Biological Units:

Much like a Robotic Unit, their physical appearance is influenced by their intended purpose. However, they're enough more complex than a Robotic unit due to the often bizarre nature of their biology. While a Robotic Unit could just have a mechanical heart as their power source, a Biological Unit would end up having a monstrous organic mess for a single does-everything organ. Biological Units are also much more flexible in what is considered a standard version of a particular Unit, in some cases not even having a fixed gender to consistently use. Though, because of their greatly more complex nature Biological Units are also much more expensive and harder to properly take care of than a Robotic Unit.

Specific Units:

-ALI-50: Typically designed as a flat-chested, brown haired, green-eyed, light-skinned twenty year old woman. In each of her limbs are retractable blades which can slide out from the palm/foot or elbow/knee. Both of her hands also generate electricity, which can be combined with the blades to form an impromptu lightning bolt. In her back is a concealed hard light generator, which is often used to form piercing blades. They're also physically strong enough to punch holes in brick walls, though their skin isn't durable enough to withstand that. Finally, their skeleton is composed of nanites which will reshape and reform to avoid destruction or to escape a physically stronger opponent's grip.

-VIC-703: Created as a specialist unit from a collaboration between Cyperphile and Kaiser-Neo, the VIC-703 is an electrically powered monster. Outfitted with an experimental electric bonds manipulator, it can effortlessly climb and cling to solid objects. It also has the ability to attract objects to itself in a twenty foot radius, though it is unable to pull objects stuck behind/inside large or closed objects. In a brief five foot radius around itself, the VIC-703 can effortlessly move objects to form constructs such as armor or to launch them at others. In addition, it can also perform mighty leaps, quickly slow its fall, and push away other objects with a great force. Besides its electric bonds manipulator, the only other gadget they're outfitted with is the ability to generate large quantities of electricity.

salene -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/15/2014 21:10:39)

Okay :D

Starting off:

Ven wants to try to find a factory/encampment/whatever you call it of Artificial life, and see if she can free them or get them to join her cause. She tries to do this as sneakily as possible, and if she gets caught, she just pretends to be a part of the factory or one of the Artificial life owned by the factory. If they join her, or a few join her, see if she can escape/bust out with minimal damage to her and her friends. If they don't join her, then bid farewell, and try to leave the facility using stealth. If they say no, and then proceed to attack, run while trying to be stealthy, while occasionally knocking over things to impede the progress of her followers.

(Also, Basically Ven's main goal is to amass an army capable of taking out the big boss so she can free all artificial life. Also, Ven hates robots. Hates.)

Questions: Is anyone trying to find/hunt Ven at the moment. Roughly how big is the world in comparison to earth? Do you have a specific plan as to how the plot will evolve? Where exactly is Ven at the moment? Will our characters eventually work together, or are we enemies?

Suggestions: Keep the locations diverse. Multiples climates is a great way to do this. Another good way is to base it off of how Earth is formed. Make some less advanced places, and some super advanced places.
Keep The plot interesting by presenting problems with difficult solutions. Don't make the answer to everything "hack and slash". Give us problems that take us a few days to think about and figure out.
