New EpicDuel Servers
Greatings EpicDuelists!
Did you know last week that EpicDuel upgraded several of the servers that run the game? If you're not familiar, a server is a computer that hosts the game and makes it available to players all around the world. Just like your technology and computers at home, servers become outdated. The new EpicDuel servers have significantly faster processors and more memory than the old ones.
For you, this upgrade will mean less server-lag and better in game performance. You probably didn't know that in addition to the servers you see on the EpicDuel server-select screen, there are other important computers that keep the game running. These include our webserver which hosts the EpicDuel website and our database servers which store all of your player data and account related information.
Last week we actually moved several of the servers to new machines and you probably didn't even notice. While this move has been mostly transparent so far, there are several things going on behind the scenes technically that require our full focus.
This week, we're going to be moving two of our database servers to new computers. Because we want to ensure all player data is safe during this transition, we're going to bring the game offline each time. We intend to bring the game down once on Monday in the later afternoon EST for about an hour, and again early in the morning on Tuesday EST for up to 3 hours. Later in the week. Watch our twitters for the most recent update!
If all goes well, we'll have the game back online faster than that, but we want to allow plenty of time to make sure everything is perfect when you login. These upgrades will help with better performance, improved security, and should ultimately provide a better gaming experience for ED players.

Balance your game first. PVP is unplayable, soon you'll have no players to save their data in your new "Servers".

You do realize that without updating the servers the game will end up in an unplayable state even if it is perfectly balanced/imbalanced(you can choose which you prefer).

Server side lag was taking the game down through December and this will hopefully prevent that from ever happening again. No promises on client side lag because I don't know if a better server will fix things being rocky on your end

I have to agree with OWA on this one big time. I was getting kicked left and right in matches that wasn't a fault of my own. Many of which I was either on a disadvantage side but still winning, or one move away from winning only to have it snatched away.

If I had to choose between the two I would choose a game where I don't get kicked because of the game lagging then having a perfectly balanced game that kicks me because it is messed up.

An unplayable PVP will lead the game to the same faith. It's been 2 months since I came back, not a single, just a mention about balance. Everyone do realize this is a major problem, even bigger than lag, yet they decide to animate weapons, we already have enough weapons. Balance is the thing now. I'm telling you.

Servers are a big deal, it's not "boring stuff" as the game relies on them.

Hopefully running Xeon's for the servers I would assume.

im all for server upgrades. and pvp seems playable to me still. you win some and you lose some

Above, the pvp feature is perfectly playable at low levels, you can notice that 50% or more of leaderboards are now for low levels. I looked up your cp, you are level 34, you are all good until you reach level 38. Then problems start:
- Ranks in 1vs1. Rank 1 meets rank 196, 54, 65, 61, 66...
- Exile/Legion filter, which leads to battles between 2 Exile/Legion players with very high ranks Vs 2 Exile/Legion players with very low ranks.

Rank are not being implemented in the equation, devs think it's not an advantage, and having 2 High rankers in 2vs2 against 2 Low rankers is for them perfectly fine, but it's not.
It's whether the testers are not testing high ranks and/or there wasn't even testing.

ranks part is a bummer, but at the same time better servers = more playable which leads to more players hopefully which should mean more people closer to your level for matching. Its a step in the right direction, and upgrading hardware does not mean they aren't working on software. the two are entirely different

The other day I pulled into the game and played 1 2 vs 2 battle. here is the set up. 2 level 40's on opposite teams (Mean and the other player) With a level 39 on the opponent's team and a level 36 on mine. Seems unfair on my end by levels. However with playing and build advantage me and my partner manage to take out the level 40. Next up my turn comes I used battery backup on my partner to give him energy to help take out the level 39. Then all of a sudden after this happens the game lags and I see the dreaded "Connection loss" I was furious because I knew it wasn't a fault of my internet due to it having all the bars and another page was working fine, and I had jest cleared my TIF (Temperory internet files) and Cache to make sure I wouldn't lag on my end.

Worse to wear it was power hour and both of us would have gotten not only increased rewards for being disadvantaged level wise by double for it being power hour. That has been happening to many players due to server lag. They get unjust loses that aren't their fault and even if they were going to lose they miss out on getting the rewards that would have come from being in the battle until the end.

This is why I am glad they are doing this so there will be less situations like this happening and hopefully it will help those players who think "Making Punishments for running/disconnecting worse" is the best way to stop this.

I think in my first reply, I didn't say I'm against this, sure this is a positive thing, I myself had problems with lag, it's whether a battle failed to start or a DC, I think your reply is meant for another dude.
What I want to say is for 2 months, not a single (and I have read every DN, tweet, post, etc... ) balance wasn't a subject, if there is a project behind the scenes, atleast there should be a DN about it, it's a simple question, is there going to be something about balance?
If simply changing servers of the game has taken 2 months, that's madness, we have to wait then another 2 months for a balance step taken by the devs.

No lag is my 1st priority too. These past days, it's been really crappy for me. It's been god knows ages since the last time I played ED in high quality. :/

Less lag is great. Although less lag won't be as noticeable as a new feature or a massive balance update, but it matters quite a lot.
