The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (1/24/2017 1:09:54)

Nulgath didn't choose to leave, he was let go. I'm surprised you didn't know, it was a whole big thing on these forums a while ago. That's why I feel especially betrayed, because they took all the staff that worked on OS to work on other projects like BattleGems and AQ3D. It was never a priority for them even in the earliest stages of the Beta and that's why it failed, because they never gave it a chance. Then after Warlic and Revontheus were pretty much permanently moved to other projects Nulgath single-handedly carried the game for several months until they fired him. So I absolutely will not put the blame on the player base especially when I personally know players who contributed hundreds of dollars to the game like Gorillo.

NDB -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (1/24/2017 1:24:14)

I know that Nulgath was fired and that he never chose to leave himself. I was there when it happened too. The point is that AE never actually disclosed their motive for firing him and for all we know it could very well have been financial reasons, as unlikely as it seems, because there are no other obvious reasons to point to that I know of. And though I sincerely don't want to sound like I'm blaming the player base for OS's downfall I do still think there is some truth in what I said. Oversoul would have been a bigger priority if it was a bigger hit and raked in more money. I think it's a bit far to say that they never gave it a chance at all. I guess what I meant to say is that it isn't right blame to one thing for it, that it was combination of factors and that the lack of player spending was definitely one of them, that's all (just look at this post http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=21695655&mpage=13&key=). I did not intend to personally attack or offend anyone by expressing my opinion and pointing this out. I myself have spend several hundreds of dollars on this game, $50 even after it stopped updating (if that sounds stupid).

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (1/24/2017 4:00:03)

Well, all I'm saying is they shouldn't have been developing 3 new games at the same time so OS rarely had a full staff. If it was allowed to utilize all its staff to add all the features and story Nulgath had planned then it would have had a better chance. Obviously I can't say whether or not it would be a success as a finished product, but with the way they left it it's no surprise they didn't get money pouring in.

P.S. I appreciate your support, wish it made a difference to AE.

@ndb

im sorry thats your state of thinking aswell. I appreciate me putting my funds, that i worked in a job, for a game i purposely felt had hope. Moneys worth? well if you insist that achieving characters and playing a loop with other people with the same card is ok and alright, i am sorry your expectations are low for a franchise that has done very good during the years, if your mindset is driven like that, i can rest assure that if you purchase something in a game and AE decided to stop the updates because of whatever reason you would be totally ok with that, which in my eyes in my opinion and freedom to state what i think its not correct. I believe AE has alot of potential and i salute their progress, but leaving a game? no.

NDB -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (1/24/2017 20:42:49)

When you put money into a company like AE, you should treat it like a bakesale. When you buy a cupcake at a bakesale, you know you are buying something severely overpriced for what its worth, but that wasn't entirely the point. Part the point was to just give a bit of money into something you believe in at the same time; the people holding the bakesale aren't making a cent of profit. And even if the cause that the bakesale was for failed in the end, you STILL got your cupcake that one day that you bought it when they hadn't failed yet. Putting this in the context of AE, you 100% did get something out of your investment in the form of a game that updated when you put in that money and the virtual currency/promotional items. AE gets all of its income from its players which has to exist no matter what day or year it is or else it will cease to exist; your investment was a literally a one time thing (okay, you may have invested on multiple occasions, but you get the point). I understand, even agree, that as players we still feel pretty ripped off and disappointed at the situation and perhaps how it was handled. BUT to say that AE made a morally wrong decision in deciding not to continue something that would lose them more money than they would gain is unreasonable in my opinion. All games have to end some time, whether it be 5, 10, or 20 years. And even if the game lasts 1,000 years, some day the player also has to quit. And when the day comes when the game ends or you quit, you can't just turn your back and blame others because you spent your money on something that the makers of the game or you don't care about anymore and then conclude that for this reason the money was "wasted".

*Slithers in* AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! It is I! The King of the Overworld! How are my friends/subjects? And why the sudden activity? Hmmmm....

Jmagician -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/7/2017 23:57:41)

I'm here to declare NDB's posts invalid and here's why: Oversoul failed before it even started. That's on AE. Hype was there, fanbase was building and soul gems were being bought; there's no excuse.

I can tell you exactly why Oversoul failed: Too many projects were being done, like The Jop said, and they just weren't sure about OS so they pulled out the resources. They had too many ambitions and at the same time, the growth of the mobile industry had them worried about creative destruction. If you add the fact that they are a company that don't really have access powerful "cash money" so to speak. At least that's what was interpreted by that letter.

Here's the real answer: You can't blame the players, and you can't really blame AE either, but you can blame AE more than you can blame the players. OS was timed poorly, which is something Nulgath has stated himself. Also, AE should have been well-prepared to make all their projects a success. Pulling the plug on failures saves you money, but being smart enough to not introduce projects that will fail saves you even more money.

Megadragonknight -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/8/2017 12:05:37)

Hi guys, I came here to see if there is any improvement for OS. Looks like I am there is no progress. Its been very long time since I even came here. But I wanna check how the older players I know were doing. Looks like some of you guys like the Jop, Darklore and Jmagician are still around. I admire the strong sense of loyalty you guys. But I see some reason that cause OS to stop the progression. It is really sad. Tbh, I missed this community and the older players that I used to play with and have fun.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/8/2017 12:26:57)

So many people coming back to see this state. I wish there was something we could do. DX

DarkLore -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/9/2017 0:35:11)

That means so much MegaDragonKnight! Thank you! Its nice to be an older player! But sad to lament about it![:(]
For those who won't give up, I give you my invitation to my Discord! OversoulRebirth!

Jet Silver -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/17/2017 0:15:36)

Honestly, even if a lot of people don't play OverSoul I kinda wanna get back into it.

I never did upgrade my Skexis or Void Knight. Though honestly the grinding for levels is a real pain.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/17/2017 4:19:26)

I suppose I can check out the discord.

Also, you totaly should get back into it. If more people join who knows? Although I doubt anything will happen.

DarkLore -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (2/19/2017 21:25:27)

Who wants to hang out with me in Oversoul? Anybody...? *Wind blows*[:(]

The Jop -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/10/2017 21:22:25)

I just looked over a bunch of years old posts and felt the waves of nostalgia wash over me. I had a lot of fun here and probably spent more time here than I did with real people. The people I talked to here were my real friends, though it's a shame we never got to communicate in a more meaningful way and couldn't see Oversoul reach its full potential. If anyone wants to talk further you can send me a private message, and for everyone who happens to stop by here I want to bid them a final farewell (since I doubt there is much activity incoming here) and I want to say thank you for the good memories. No matter what happens to the things we put our energy and passion into or what happens to ourselves, we've still had those positive experiences that we can cherish and reflect on. That's what makes it all worthwhile.

Battle On!

Dr Disrespect -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/11/2017 2:58:58)

I don't know if I'm being foolish here but I still have faint hopes that OverSoul will be revisited sometime in the future and will become the game that it should have become if AQ3D turns out to be successful.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/11/2017 3:36:45)

You are not the only one who hopes that Gogeta. I can see OS doing well on the moble platform. But I feel like we need to convice the higher ups to give it that chance rather then just port it.

the warden -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/11/2017 18:06:48)

I had a dream a few nights ago about a lot of new characters being added for people that had bought a certain amount of soulgems, there were at least 4-6 of them..
sigh, ill get my nulgath fix from farming the class then I guess...

Dr Disrespect -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/23/2017 0:09:21)

Met Asuka in game today and had fun chatting and duelling with other players who were on. Screenshot

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/23/2017 1:56:39)

Ok now I'm just curious if he's still technically a OS tester even though there is nothing to test.

DarkLore -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/26/2017 9:58:17)

If anyone is on Twitter or just uses it... Look at this... Please... WE can make a difference!!!

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/26/2017 10:17:53)

Few issues with this:

1: You are asking the wrong guy. Nulgath no longer has control over Oversoul. You'd need to talk to/send the petition to AE.

2: You don't have a actual petition. If you wanted to make a Revive OS petition, you would need to: Write a well written, convincing petition explaining why it should be done vis something like Change.org or some other petition site, address it to the right people in such a away it gets to them, and then garner enough support behind it to do so. In short you need organization and to convince people toback it.

Now, I'm not saying don't do it. I'd support a petition to revive OS if it was not too much hassle both to sign it and for AE to do so, and it would at the very least let AE know there is still interest in Oversoul if nothing else which MIGHT prioritize it higher for revival/remake/update when Project Ommi is done. But if you want to do a petition, you got to do it RIGHT. And no, I don't know how. Go look at some sucessful ones.

Also, don't post it here. petitions are on allowed on the forums. DX

Skurge -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/26/2017 15:56:23)

We have to face reality here.

OverSoul was severely neglected by AE despite the potential. I'm a little dumbfounded why the conversion of OverSoul into a mobile game was never truly explored. A card/flash game is seriously popular in the App/Play store. Even if OverSoul was revived into a browser game again, I doubt I'd return because of the nature of the game. It can be a little exhausting having to sit at a computer for hours to grind levels. Would've been much better as a casual mobile game. [8|]

At this point, the foundation is already built. I'm going to go ahead and assume that art assets are of no shortage and all that needs to be done is elaborate a little on card expansions. Would love to see this game back to it's glory and the community was one of the most passionate ones I've ever seen. :(

DarkLore -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/27/2017 9:11:17)

Wow... Skurge himself... This is why I strive for its revival... Yes, I know I'm trying it foolishly, but I was one of OS's biggest supporters. Well, in terms of how much I loved its concept and design... It was like Yu-Gi-Oh! had a baby with Pokemon. The whole catching characters by possessing them, coupled with using them in battle as your own, made for an amazing concept! Sadly, I'm no fool. I know that despite it all, it somehow lost ground despite its huge support from players. Milton had other projects that took priority over it... I still fail to see why it was given up on just like that though... I mean in terms of the feedback... It was praised despite its "grindy nature". I guess Revontheus switching over to ED's side (Ugh, hate that game's trash-talkers during fights...) and Warlic not having the time due to other projects as well... (AQ3D, you killed OS!) Its not about some silly petition... I just question where it all went wrong... I've seen even newer players sign up to this day! I met a nice player just yesterday that said they had only started the day prior. Yes, Solace can get quite empty, but when its not, WOW! I know people on here and even on Twitter that aren't willing to give up on it despite the obvious... I just don't see why that isn't proof of OS's community... That's my two Soul-Gems (Instead of cents. LOL!) Hope to chat with any of you about this. No matter how hopeless something looks in life, never give up! Never lose hope! Its not over until we lose all of that! Even then, we are stronger than that! Remember my Oversouls comrades, as long as OS remains online, there will always be a glimmer of hope...[:)]

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/27/2017 9:35:56)

I mean, if you want my opnion, the best thing we can do is let AE know that there is still interest in this game. I know with Project Ommi they want to port over all their games if possible, so if we let people know we want OS it might get bumped out a bit on the game list or something. I don't know.

DarkLore -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 156 - Read the first post! (4/28/2017 13:44:55)

Like I said when I spoke with you yesterday Kyle, out of all the dead games, OS has the best fighting chance! WarpForce died, HeroSmash died, (But HeroSmash also had great potential...) and MechQuest died as soon as Ash left pretty much! I fills me with evil joy that people still frequently login! Be it new, or old![:)]
