A cheevo that increases in tier with the amount of var you spend buying weapons/into the cheeevo itself

Not really. Theres the credit sink cheevo, this ones just a varium sink cheevo that would be present year around and offers more rating points

How would it be a varium sink achievement if you don't directly sink varium into it? Also, why would we need another varium sink?

You do directly sink varium into it. 1 varium for the first tier, 100 for the second, 1000 for the 3rd tier, 5000 for the 4th, 10,000 for the 5th tier. Similar to how the credit sink cheevos work.

I remember when they released class change and the Class Master achievement. I spent 1500 varium to change into a BH and then 15 seconds later, I spent another 1500 Varium to change back to a Mercenary (Unlike the class jumpers, I was loyal to my class). It made me really angry that I was pretty much forced to spend 3000 varium just to get the achievement that I wanted. I'm guessing that if this "varium sink" achievement was put in the game, a lot of people would feel the same as I felt back then.

well no one HAS to buy the cheevo. Its optional

The people who actually still buy varium are the kind of dedicated people that would want a new achievement. Sure, they don't have to buy it, but they would buy it. And they would just end up being angry at devs for making them spend varium for nothing but an achievement.

Edit: I'm just curious, would you personally really be willing to spend 16101 varium (well over 50$) on just a rank 5 achievement that would probably only be worth about 5k rating points?

With the credit sink one I can understand seeing as there are people who like rating (myself included) and while the credits are hard to gain (unless farming gifts and codes) the fact is that you can get these for free. Where as with varium unless you are one of the people who has time and/or money to burn (which most don't) Something like this might not be as appealing. But then again there was the war kill LB back in delta that people literally sank thousands (if not more) of dollars just to get varium to be on the war kill all time LB as well as get the two cheevo's that came with it (Got 2 of the 3) So it could possibly work.
