The cores on robots right now arent really cores. Thats their attack, what theyre supposed to do meaning that everyones bot does practically the same thing. Right?

I would like to introduce a new aspect into this game called Robot Customization. What this will do is allow your robot to equip a passive an active core, similar to your character.

Cores your robot will be able to equip include these passives:

Aim Assist

Robot Mastery (critical cores)

Lucky Strike

And these actives:

Frost Shards

Energy Storm

Meteor/Plasma Strike (Titan Cores)

The bots active cores damage will, of course, scale with the bots damage. The way it will be viewed on the character screen is that there will be one box above the bots normal attack and one above its special. The box above the normal attack is the active core and the box above the special is the passive.

The cores shouldnt be too hard to convert over to the bot, nor should the art or animation appear to be any different. The bot will come out the same way, only it will cast the attack as opposed to its normal attack.

To be honest, I dont see it becoming OverPowered for any kind of build, even the F5. I just see it encouraging diversity and encouraging the players to try different things.

The thing about this is it only buffs focus builds and basically nothing else.

So not supported. If it affected all builds equally and not just f5 then I wouldn't mind.

It really doesn't. Your bot being able to use frostshards, energy storm, or even energy shot (should it be made a core along with concussive shot) will actually be very beneficial to all build types

But what would those scale off of?

Unless I'm misunderstanding, frost shards and energy shot would just scale off of the total robot damage like frost shards and energy shot does for guns/primaries. IE their use would be really poor in general because nobody wants to do minimal damage and spend like 100 energy to apply a frost shards debuff AND put their robot on CD at the same time. Even less for energy shot, and energy storm is just plain bad and seriously needs a huge numbers buff.

I don't see the need to implement this at all at this point. Bots are defined by their specials, not their basic attack, and that's what they've been doing since day 1 of their release. We shouldn't be unnecessarily adding in extra elements into the game that will greatly impact the meta without any insight. For example, inserting another energy drain option into the game aside from the already ridiculous amount? The energy-centric meta is just straight up bad because it leads to repetitive, monotonous fights.

It would be perfectly acceptable if they could, somehow, scale off of tech but to say that nobody wants to do minimal damage and spend like 100 energy to apply a frost shards debuff just seems a bit weird to me. I mean experienced players have done this and continue to do this nowadays as its more of a strategic effect instead of a pure damage thats meant to KO your opponent.

Quite frankly, there isn't a need to implement it at this point or half of the suggestions in the forum, but im not going to wait until there's a right time to suggest it. I get an idea for a game of which I love and enjoy and I merely suggest it in order to add depth to the features that are already in this game. It's probably not what "We" do, but it is indeed what "I" do.

minimal damage and spend like 100 energy to apply a frost shards debuff

And put the robot into CD. That's a big one too.

Most individuals who dont use f5 builds dont use their bots normal attack anyway. This will give them a reason and, if anything, it will be a great bonus for the technology stat.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Robot Customization (1/15/2016 0:24:37)

So does using the active core not put the special on CD?

The berserker killer -> RE: Robot Customization (1/15/2016 1:33:05)

I would say yes, as it will cause your bot to make an appearance on the screen in order to cast the said skill

Alphaeus -> RE: Robot Customization (1/16/2016 17:40:06)

This is all quite interesting, but I have to make a suggestion.

Why not have core slots on bots?

I do not want by bot to be changed in any way. When I use my Focus build, that would seriously mess me up. I like both of them.

I would, however, like to maybe have additional things that my bot can do. So that I can really make it mine.

Still either way, I doubt that this will ever happen.

Here's why:

Robots are designed to be the reward people get for using Balanced builds. If you don't use a balanced build, you lose the benefit of having a bot deal any useful damage, and MAYBE get the bonus of having a secondary skill that helps you.

If what you are suggesting was put into place, it would either

1) Give an overall advantage to every bot that would undermine the purpose of F5 builds, nerfing them....

OR

2) It would give F5 builds a huge boost, making them OP (F5 builds are already some of the strongest around...making them stronger is the last thing we need).

For these reasons, I can't really support this.
