Please feel free to discuss anything in regards to the game here.

Stats should probably be around as powerful as existing characters in the game thread. Fairly weak now since it's the start and they will probably power up over time.
Not sure how many items and skills a character can have at the start, so.. maybe 4 or 5 at max?

Also, Megakyle's suggestion sounds good, so maybe try to come up with a short story/background of the character? This is not mandatory.

A few ideas for short backstories per char:

Lion, the Mercenary Knight: He once tried to be a noble knight, but he found nobility did not put meat in his stomach and turned to the merecnary life, doing any work good or ill for coin. He does occasionnaly do some free work if he feels moved by the plight however. Guess you can't truly get rid of chivalry.

P, the Penguin: A penguin from the frozen northlands who was experimented on by a mad scienetist. Foutunatly, in this case, experimentation was less "dissect him for SCIENCE!" and more "WHat happens if I add a gatling gun on a penguin?". For the record, the answer is smoking lab ruins.

An enigmatic figure, he fights for no land, and none have been able to hire him. He seems to become involved in conflicts in order to fight against both sides. The little that is known of his motives is that he seeks an end to all war, and is willing to go to any lengths to achieve that goal.

Crush (Moderate damage at melee range, can be used repeatedly)
Taunt (Attempt to convince enemy to enter into melee range, more effective as damage taken increases)
Cheap Shot (deals light damage ignoring character's POW in melee range, chance to stun target temporarily)
Strike Down (deals heavy damage to stunned target in melee range, ignores target DEF)

Looks good. Is cheap shot the one with chance to stun? Seems you omitted that :P
I'll be away for about a week, so I'll hopefully include it then.

Special Feature: Wakes up every day to a new body, and can shift into a more bestial, combat oriented, form.

(Light damage, melee range, can be used repeatedly)
Infusion (Light heal, melee range, can be used twice per combat)
Beast Form
Claw (Moderate damage, melee, reduces opponent DEF by 1(reusable, but the debuff doesn't stack))
Bite (Moderate damage, melee, chance to hit opponent arm/appendage and reduce POW by 1(same debuff rules as above))

Here's my idea. Don't really know if it's op or up, since I can't playtest it. Kinda wanted a D&D 5e Moon Druid, with spellcasting in human form, but more squishy, and more damage in beast form.

Special Features: Can pay stat pts upon death to survive. (If you have 5 END, get hit with an attack that deals 7 damage, you will have -2 END. You must pay at least 3 stat pts to continue existing).

Skills:
  • Strangle (Moderate damage, mid-range, single target. Uses target's POW stat instead of user's to calculate damage.)
  • Mirror Slash (Heavy damage, short-range, strikes all targets in range. User's END is reduced by the total damage dealt.)
  • Data Drain (Short-range, single target. Reduces all of the target's stats by 2-4 pts (rolled individually) and then increases user's stats by the same amount. Long cooldown.).
  • Chaos: (Single target, infinite range. Randomly swaps the values of the target's stats (except END) temporarily.)
  • Corrupt (Status effect: Prevents target from healing and reduces their DEF.)
  • Lag: (Status effect: Halves target's SPD.)
  • Delete (Instantly kills a target with 0 DEF and 0 SPD. Can only be used once per battle.)

    Wasn't really considering boss character suggestions but I'll keep that one in mind.

    Alright... made a necessary update to the game. Scratch the "no calculations" thing, now there's a definite meaning of the numbers.
    Made the END values higher to work with the damage formula.
    Action numbers are influenced by character's speed.
    Made a few minor tweaks to some characters as well.

    If anyone wishes to add some feedback, feel free to do so here. In a couple of days I'll announce the first stage, close character sugg and open signups.

    <Mothulhu>, the Amnesiac Zombie
    A young male who forgot many things when his mind rotted. He wanders aimlessly trying to remember his purpose in life and where he went wrong. Having a short attention span makes his days pass by in a blur. Although he likes to read, he does not care to retain every piece of information he acquires. He records in his diary what he perceives as important. Dreams of writing his own stories but has yet to actually take the first step towards that goal. Extremely lazy and thus slow to act unless motivated.

    Special Features: Can choose to memorize any skill used by ally/enemy but can only hold up to five skills. Each time a copied skill is used, it gains one Learning Point. If LP = 100, that skill will be remembered even if it is overwritten.
    When copying a skill, one turn is spent increasing the download meter by a random %. At 100%, the skill is copied and the meter resets to 0% (only one skill can be copied at a time). Mothulhu is able to cram which instantly copies a skill in a turn but skills that are crammed are deleted at the end of the battle they're obtained in.
    Items: A diary, an assortment of manga, romance novels

    Skills:
  • Memory Slot: Insert copied skills. Max capacity of 5. Must delete a skill if full. Skills not at 100 LP are forgotten when deleted. Skills at 100 LP are remembered even if deleted and can be re-inserted.
  • Inspiration: Does not use up an actual skill slot. A passive ability that fuses two (100 LP) skills together to create a new skill combining the effects of its fusion materials.

    Wait, are "turns" actions or posts? Assuming actions, considering that he's only getting 4 per turn, using several actions per post just to raise the % to learn the skill for the rest of the stage... to then spend 100 actions on the same skill to learn it permanently, sounds like it's rarely ever gonna happen D:
    Shall we speed up the process a bit? Maybe reducing LP to something like 25? And for the copying process... maybe spending a post to learn a skill? or something. What do you think?

    3 2 1 Spot open for signup! Signups done

    Stage 1: Prime Town is under attack! Cult Mages have taken control of a Fire Dragon in order to subject the region to the tyranny of the Evil King, and now they're targeting the small Prime Town. Luckily, a group of adventurers were present nearby the town when the attack began.
    The situation: 3 human Cult Mages who can use fire magic are commanding the Fire Dragon, which is an enormous winged creature that can breathe fire. The adventurers rush to the main street, where they face the mages, while the dragon is in the back, preparing his breath attack to burn another house. It is now time to end this cruel attack.

    If you want to participate, choose the character you'll be using for this stage and post it here.





    Sorry for the horrible delay, I cleared out some details and tagged the game complete, now I've opened signups for the first stage so we can begin the game as soon as it gets approved, hopefully.
    Only 3 spots now because as I said before, it's mainly for testing stuff and getting a feel of the game; so it won't be a very long stage.

    I will update the game 14(ish :P) days after the last update if there are plays missing, so if possible, to avoid this, feel free to communicate here when you'll skip a post; indicating a blank/idle post in the game could work as well.

    Also, I know the game has basically just started but if you have any questions, opinions or criticism, that's what this thread is for [8D]


    Just as a bit of clarification, distances with their corresponding ranges are close=melee, medium=moderate, long, very long and extremely long
