Lord Satine -> Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/10/2017 23:02:15)

While out on my adventures I occasionally try to capture the essence of the people and creatures I encounter on paper. Here you will find a catalog of all such endeavors.

If you've encountered a particularly interesting creature you'd like to see documented, I may be willing to hunt it down and sketch it in my field journal. Maybe.

Feel free to critique my work as I am always looking to improve my trade.

Since I plan on wiping out all of these cultists after the Black Winter war is over, I figured it was only fair to create a profile of one for posterity purposes.

In order to give the purveyors of my gallery a deeper insight into my own life, I borrowed Jaania's mirror to create a portrait of myself. (Note: This is just a portrait of my character. Obviously, I'm not an Elven Death Knight in real life.)

Shiny_Underpants -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/11/2017 4:29:25)

The pictures look very good (nice shading btw). In terms of improvement, I would recommend making some small adjustments to linework. Your elven Death Knight looks quite realistic- the face is perhaps a little round (although still within the boundaries of normal facial variation).

The Death Knight's eyes are a little bit strange. The iris isn't apparent, and it looks like the pupils are heavily dilated. Something seems off about the shape- perhaps because the bottoms of the eyes are flatter (or it could be because they're enlarged so much, I'm not so sure).
The neck is slightly thick as well (if you want to thicken it to imply musculature, try tapering it so that it's thick where it meets the shoulders, but normal neck diameter where it meets the skull).

The Cultist's head is a little low on its shoulders, despite not appearing hunched- and the head seems slightly on the small side. (That being said, it's still very realistic- and cultists aren't exactly known for their amazing physique).

Having said all this, they are very nice drawings. The only reason I have so much to say is because they're so detailed. Good job and welcome to the cheekbones club.

I appreciate the feedback greatly, Shiny. You would be correct in that the eyes were drawn a little oddly. I had issues making them perfectly circular and by the time I realized it, it was too late to fix without blemishing the drawing. The issue of the dilation and the iris, however, is that my personal character always has cloudy grey eyes that seem to mix together. It's a bit of a tradition, however I drew them a little dark here. Nothing that a little cheekbone can't distract from, though.

As for the cultist, I'm just glad you didn't point out his lack of legs.

I'd imagine my next drawing should be up sometime tonight, after a bit of adventuring and warmongering.

Ah, Xan. The poor, tortured and love-lost pyromancer we all know and love.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/13/2017 18:50:10)

Decided to play around in Photoshop with my Xan drawing. The results were fiery.

Azan -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/13/2017 21:50:07)

These drawings are gorgeous, Lord Satine! I especially love the Cultist one. It's beautiful aaaand a bit disgusting at the same time. Very, very effective!

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/13/2017 22:15:24)

Since running Xan through Photoshop was such a success, I did the same for my character and I absolutely love the way he came out!

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/13/2017 22:16:33)

Thanks for the love, Azan! The cultist drawing was what got me into drawing things within Dragonfable, and the tentacles were surprisingly fun to draw.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/13/2017 23:35:26)

You might enjoy this one, Azan. I decided to 'shop up one of the cultists. Wasn't sure of which colors would go best since I added my own spin to its appearance but I feel it turned out well. If anyone can think of a better color scheme, I'm more than willing to give it a go.

Just wow ! your drawing is beautifull !

All of them are very nice but Xan skull ... man it look badass !

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/14/2017 20:13:32)

Here's my spin on Sepulchure, wherever he may now be.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/14/2017 20:25:04)

@TheFourSins

Thank you for your compliments. The Xan Skull is definitely one of my favorite pieces as well, though the Sepulchure piece I just uploaded takes the cake for me. Hmmm... maybe a flaming Sepulchure next...

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/14/2017 21:22:59)

Played around with the colors a bit on Seppy. Still prefer the original, but this one has merit.

Eye thought this addition could be interesting.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/15/2017 23:40:24)

I encountered these beauties far to the west in Volkenraand. Never have I met such a graceful race, not even the elves compare.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/16/2017 1:11:04)

Here's the Photoshop edit of the above drawing. Turned out kinda creepy.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (1/16/2017 2:01:10)

This version is less creepy and more to the original concept of the race.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (5/16/2020 6:09:02)

After a brief hiatus from the world of art and adventuring, I have returned with a few touch-ups of some of my previous pieces on here. First up, everyone's favorite: Xan! I didn't change a drastic amount from the previous drawing I did of him but it's been "nice-ified" overall.

Lord Satine -> RE: Lord Satine's Adventuring Sketches (5/16/2020 6:13:11)

This second one isn't so much of a touch-up as it is simply me finishing it to begin with. Originally this was to be a portrait of Sepulchure but it evolved into my own custom Doom Knight. Would you look at those lips!
