I suggest the type of damage we do be determined by our class and not gear: TM, CH and TLM will only do energy damage. BM, BH and Merc will only do physical. Bots will be the exception here, they'll keep whatever damagre type they do. This should add a new level to strategy and shields might need some changes.

I didn't make it clear in the 1st post that this'll apply to all of the classes skills and not just primary, gun and aux. This means Techmage's bludgeon would be energy, merc surg strike will be physical and you get the idea.

I can't really get behind this sorry.

Mercenaries' Surgical Strike is a laser, plain and simple. It is meant to be/look like an energy blast. What happens to energy guns, auxes? do they suddenly take on the form of Physical/Energy and vice versa? I cannot see the benefits to this suggestion.

Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way but I can't makes heads nor tails of it.
