Different armors

What if armor was different for Defense and Resistance. My english is very weak so let me explain. - Normal armors should give just defense, and for resistance we should use an aux armor. This could make way for more customization on armors. Like a extra gadget. Wings, aura, etc... This was just a idea, i know it takes long to do something like that, or even impossible , but anything similar would be great.
