Haven't played DF in over 3 years, is there a guide or any recommendations on how I can get up to speed?

While there have been Timelines added to Book 1 and Book 3, we also have excellent guides: Guide to Dragonfable Guides to and two Design Notes written by one of the Devs, Verly, that give you what you need to know about: stats and how they affect gameplay and how Dragonfable currently operates.

In addition to what Dratomos said. We may possibly get a war this week(i'm not sure). So just incase you should try to get to book 3 asap. Follow the book 1 timeline. In book 2 just do the wargoth questline and in book 3 you start doing maleurous quests as soon as you get to falconreach.
