Hello,

I recently began playing Artix Games again after an almost decade long hiatus. I was 13 when I began, 22 now. I have been fairly excited for all the new content that's come out and seeing how my favorite characters have developed over the years. However, a massive barrier to entry for this is the lack of New Game + option or at least an opportunity to reset your level and start from scratch. Let me explain. With an RPG like AQ, a feeling of progression is vital as a motivator to keep playing. Slowly accumulating more and more might, fighting stronger and stronger enemies, seeing your character develop from a basic rogue to a deadly assassin or paladin—all of those massively contribute to the enjoyment of the game as the writing ups the stakes.

Now, what's the problem? Why don't I just make a new account? Well, good question. The answer is: money. It wasn't an issue at all to restart with a different account on, say, Dragon Fable, as I hadn't bought a Dragon Amulet when I was younger. There was no feeling of financial waste barring me from purchasing the membership and starting from the beginning. That way, I could enjoy all of the content and changes from over the years while being able to immerse myself in the narrative. This isn't really an option for some people. In my situation, it's the conundrum that's stopping me from fully immersing myself in Adventure Quest. It's been YEARS since I've played the game. I am not max level, yet I'm in the upper echelon to where the earlier quests are ill balanced around the gear I have and the steamrolling of such weak enemies would be unenjoyable. I feel no compulsion to begin again as there is so much story to catch up on without that core loop to keep you engaged throughout the process.

Essentially, the options are to play on a new account without a premium membership or to buy a new membership on a new account, both of which people would feel extremely reluctant to do. As such, I am proposing a New Game + feature for the game with the following attributes: 1) Your character is reset to level 1. 2) Z-tokens are kept, obviously, but all gear is placed into a storage area until you grind for it again or reach the same level as you were pre reset. 3) Your house and any furniture also stay.

This could even be done for a $5 fee per person as to make a profit out of a sub group of players that would not engage with the game again otherwise. Thank you for reading and I hope the idea is taken under consideration.

AQ is one of the oldest games still running. As such, the technical debt is enormously high.

The notion of starting from scratch is very far-fetched. Fantasy even.

We all at one or many points, want to rewrite the game, after we realised, "oh we could have done this better".

But starting on such a task is gargantuan, even as experienced as the staff are.

There's also the ROI itself which you're aware, and it is no small fee...

In regards to resetting characters, that's also easier said than done... database management isn't a simple task, especially when we have shared vault as well.

All in all, your sentiments are well received, but nothing can be done unless someone with less technical debt wants to create a new game for AE with the same concept as AQ, but probably with all the solutions to the problem you wrote.

I'll have to close this thread as it doesn't add value to the current main game.
