In the aftermath of the FTX scandal the Federal Reserve Bank of New York announced that it would team up with global financial institutions to launch a 12-week digital dollar pilot program called the "Regulated Liability Network".
According to the Atlantic Council at least 112 countries are considering CBDCs.
So what are CBDCs? Essentially, they are programmable currencies that make use of blockchain technology like Bitcoin issued by central banks.
