Animenut1 -> Item upgrades in account management (5/6/2024 22:23:32)

Recently found out about this neat mechanic, but I'm a smidge confused on the nuances of some interactions. The tool suggests turning "Zealot's Wrath, guardian, level 150" into "Zealot's Wrath, normal, level 0" is an upgrade. As far as I (A mostly casual player) know, that should be the same thing. In terms of damage, effect, etc, it's literally identical. It just changes it into a normal item rather than a guardian item. Obviously, turning a 135 item into a 150 item is a flat increase, and turning a 150 item into a 0 item should only really cause the 0 to scale to any character that uses it, meaning the 150 character sees no benefit. Is that all? 10 gold to remove the guardian tag and make it scale to any character?

There was a change at some point that enabled items to scale to your level. For a level 150 player, the result is in fact, the same.

But if you buy the item on 1 character, you can transfer the item to your vault and grab it on another of your characters. Having the item scale means regardless of that character's level, they can use it. Before this change, you'd have to go obtain a properly tiered version of the item and use it..then go through the entire process again once that Alt character surpassed the next tier.

Changing those to lvl 0 is better

If the item tiers are the usual L110, L135, L150 as an example.... An alt on the old system might use the zealots L110 version all the way until L135 ...and at L110 power. This system is always at-level for power as you level.

So it's not just about from a perspective of a L150...
