Arena at the Edge of Time: Danao's Legacy
Hey there, heroes!

This week, the Unfortunate Souls 2 board has been updated! Whoever could your opponent be this time?

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/2026-08-08-UnfortunateSouls2-2DN.png[/image]

Face off against a grown-up version of Piotr, the Fleshweaver apprentice of Secundus! If you emerge victorious, you'll earn a pair of wings that look perfect with the upcoming Fleshweaver class!

Please note that while Piotr will provide a peek at some of Fleshweaver's abilities and mechanics, a lot has been changed to make this an arena challenge! And a lot might change before Fleshweaver is released as well!

Also, this challenge uses some new engine tricks, so make sure to reload your game before you take it on!

Head over to the Arena at the Edge of Time if you have what it takes to defeat him!

Also this week, August's seasonal items have returned, and a new helm is available!

The cosmetic Helm of Lunaris is available for 400 Dragon Coins! You can click on it to change its mask/shades as well.

Finally, I'm sure there is a lot of excitement for the upcoming Fleshweaver class, but as always, there is a lot that still needs to be done, and a lot that may change.

That said, with this release, we're declaring Fleshweaver to be our priority project this month. There's a lot to do still, but we're going to do our best!

And that's all for this week!

It feels surreal to think that we are this close to FW. But these are amazing news and I hope the dev team can deliver while also taking care of themselves.

As for the fight, I loved it. It is really great and the amount of control you still have is neat. Almost everything about this fight feels good (except being unlucky and having Piotr summon and consume spirits on the same turn, but that can be avoided) and it's a great tease for what to expect from FleshWeaver.

Amazing job! This year's Inn fights have been really good and I would consider this might be the best year of Inn.

I haven't beaten this fight yet as I'm travelling tomorrow :( but man this is genuinely epic.

We finally get a taste of what Fleshweaver will be like and it's clear that D*ve was cooking. When we get this, it's bound to be the most well-animated class in the game by a long shot and I'm so excited to use it. The finger bullet is such a good animation and actually makes me wet. I also like the really unnatural-looking arm rotation before the attack where Piotr launches his arm at you like a sawblade. The leg turning into a sawblade as he kicks down on you is pretty epic too. The only issue I have with the fight is that Piotr has to walk a short distance before being able to execute his attacks, which looks a little clunky and weird in my opinion. I feel like the positioning of the boss on the map should be changed.

I like how fat the boss is and it feels really authentic in its implementation. He's either fat because you let him consume too many spirits and apply a massive mana barrier, or he's too fat because you spent too long killing the spirits and now you have to deal with the mana barrier on top of that. It's like Dove based the boss' mechanics after himself! However, you can find the right balance and damage the spirits significantly with multis to reduce his healing upon consuming each spirit, as well as reducing the amount he heals by making him summon lost spirits more often. This adds a dynamic layer to the fight using adds that previous fights with adds only pretend to have. How dynamic his rotation is with three alternating pathways further contributes to this and makes this boss feel dynamic and reactive.

It's also such a breath of fresh air to be able to fight a Danao brother in an engaging battle. Tomix is far too overtuned and doesn't really reflect much of his story in favor of just being an overpowered anime protagonist, and Danyel was just Soulweaver skills recycled and in a really bad way, without using any of his unique personal animations or battle pose. Piotr on the other hand presents you a boss with cool animations largely unique to himself (yeah he technically reuses Greg's sawblade wheel and Pride's nuke) with cool mechanics - I mean, calling four spirits to fight for him and to later eat is just epic, and you being able to eat the spirits yourself is a great touch. Although I guess Katja kinda got her own fight in the form of Nicborn, which was also genuinely good, so I guess the two irrelevant siblings got a bit more of a spotlight.

Lore-wise, I got the implication that Piotr is aligned to the Wind Element because Secundus retrieved the corpse of Baltael from the Magisterium Seym after the screen fades to black in The End of the Beginning to show the fates of Vaal and Roirr. Piotr had already been Secundus' apprentice by this point in the story, and the idea that Secundus managed to groom an innocent child into consuming his brother's soul-ally also makes me question Piotr's sanity and mental health. He may just be an innate sociopath lol

Overall, this was a really cool release. It was very flavorful and quite cathartic to see a resolution on this long-standing Fleshweaver issue. D*ve definitely did a fantastic job.

Agreed. Much as I dread seriously attempting DLL, I loved the rest of the fights this year, with Dragonslayers' Fury and Test of the Cycle being my absolute favorites.

Still haven't managed a clear but the animations on the fight are beautiful. I don't know if I can clear this fight without seriously taking time to like make a spreadsheet to reference from time to time, but I do enjoy watching all the neat little animations.

I am curious as to what will translate to the class itself, assuming it arrives this month.
