I love that you made this post, Jet Silver! There are a lot of feelings for so many of our team members -- wistful, bittersweet... the Japanese call it "mono no aware" -- a gentle sadness about the impermanence of things. I think that captures how most of the team is feeling right now. When we look at the current roster of our game developers, a majority of them -- and 100% of our forum and game moderators and testers -- began exactly where you are: as members of our community. For me, my forum account was made in February 2006, right after my AQ account back in January 2006. My first posts were made from the closet-sized office of a University literary magazine, back in grad school. (Because you can only read so many poetry entries in a single sitting before needing to slay some dragons, you know?) For so many members of the Artix team -- and for so many of you all who we posted alongside before joining the staff -- this forum has been an online home. We've made real-life friends, works of art, and a lot of chaos together. These boards are an integral part of the history of Artix Entertainment, a living record of the first two decades of our journey together. That's a large part of why we're keeping the forum online as an archive, not taking it down completely. There's too much history, so much lore, and too many good memories to ever delete. The global shifts in online safety mean we have to adjust how we interact, but there is so much more that we want to build and create alongside all of you. That mean, ultimately, this is more a transition than a true ending. We are closing one massive era on the forum, but a path leads into the future: to discussions on Discord, future community hubs on Zendesk, and into the unknown beyond. Because even if posting on the forum will not continue, we are not going to stop making videogames, and we're definitely not going to stop interacting with you all. I'm so grateful to all of you who've posted here, and to all the forum mods, AKs, Pedia contributors, and admins who spent time and energy to help keep the forum safe and information flowing for everyone using it. Thank you -- and everyone else reading this -- for sharing these past 20 years with me, with Artix, and with the entire Artix Entertainment team. More adventures are immminent, and we'll be right there with you guys to share them.
