GodJank -> The choice between FleshWeaver and Aegis (8/31/2026 14:28:12)

Now that FleshWeaver has been officially out for testing for a few days, and we've all had our fun, it's made me start to think about Aegis again and the future for FleshWeaver. Story wise, it's been pretty heavily implied (if not outright confirmed) that choosing between FleshWeaver and Aegis is going to be a choice, and you won't be able to have both (unless you make another account). This would be incredibly bold story wise, but I'm slightly concerned gameplay wise.

We've seen some teasers for Aegis' final form, but the trade offs makes me feel like this could be a pretty easy choice.

1. You kill(?) Aegis and in return, you get FleshWeaver, a heavily hyped up class that has been 10+ years in development, and is already EXTREMELY fun to use
or
2. You DON'T pick the cool weaver class, and you gain.. a buffed guest?

He certainly looks incredibly cool, but gameplay wise I'm a bit concerned about what he'll have to offer. My two guesses right now is that choosing him will either heavily buff SoulWeaver, or give the player access to a strong guest you can bring into the Inn. Either choice would be really interesting.

I'm curious about what other people think.

I don't play with guests and the whole monstrous hero vibe is starting to grow on me as I use Fleshweaver during this testing. I think the concept of permanent choice here is a bad move. I mean classes never came with ultimatums so why do it now? I'd favor we consume some evil soul ally and keep Aegis too. The original plan was awful and I will think this even if it remains but in the end I will still likely choose class over a guest I don't really use despite how immoral this is.

TFS -> RE: The choice between FleshWeaver and Aegis (8/31/2026 20:11:23)

The concept behind the class has always been that accepting Secundus's offer to teach you dark magic grants you power, at a price (losing access to Aegis and the Soulweaver class). The class would be a lot less cool and the narrative would be a lot less immersive if accepting this faustian bargain didn't actually come at any sort of a cost.

ProbablyCallum -> RE: The choice between FleshWeaver and Aegis (8/31/2026 21:19:58)

I genuinely don’t care about the narrative flavour, its the first new trainable class in 13 years, locking it behind deleting access to another class that got reworked to be highly playable and fun now is just absurd, not to mention mandating microtransactions to swap back and forth, esp when the consequences concept gets ignored for things such as deathknight which has a whole questline about if you so much as touch one of those pieces of deathknight gear you're turned into an evil undead forever. There has been nothing in the last 2 decades of story content that would suggest that the hero would remotely entertain the idea of killing one of their closest allies for power and its always felt like creepypasta fanfiction being forced in. It should and always should have been as uncanonical as every single other class that isn’t dragonlord or soulweaver. The class itself is really cool and i've had a lot of fun playing around with it in testing but every single other angle of this class's production over the last decade has felt like a colossal slap in the face. I can only pray that every one of those prior claims are walked back.
