DeathKnight2 -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (6/7/2007 19:16:17)

Hmm pretty...although the result for me is too bright...maybe add a curves layer

ruttersmmma -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (6/9/2007 16:42:52)

i used the brush galaxy big (100x100) i didn't have the alpha color thing though:[image]http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s19/pureshroud/coolfirebackround.jpg[/image]

_Depression -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (6/9/2007 23:43:42)

ya don't always need it. It helps make the certain layer transparent-ish, and then changing the layer modes makes it differenter... yup.

the saiyan prince -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (6/10/2007 14:55:19)

I used it on my sig.
Thanks for the tut.

ruttersmmma -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (6/10/2007 15:10:58)

like how do you got from the top layer to the botom or middle layer

edit: found the alpha

_Depression -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (6/10/2007 20:45:42)

saiyan: you are quite welsome.
rutters: that's good. If you have any questions, PM me, k?

This is what I got:

[image]http://lh6.google.com/Fyreblood/R0XZuMhweKI/AAAAAAAAALA/9sZlYtwBNrI/s400/fireybackground.jpg[/image]

I didn't like the motion blur, so I didn't do that step.
Great tut!

_Depression -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (11/23/2007 10:54:46)

woo!! I'm so stunned that this thing is still alive. I started it in early '06, and it just never went away.

Nice outcomes from everyone. No joke.

Oh, wow. I just noticed that this doesn't even have an [FAQ] marker in the title. That means that this has been alive for two years on pure member power alone.

w00t!!

tren54 -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (11/23/2007 15:26:03)

I kinda took your tut and made this.

_Depression -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (11/23/2007 17:11:18)

Nice. Text is kinda hard to read (especially the bottom right). But nice!

Yesh. It was made so that you couldn't read it. It says "Terror of Death"

_Depression -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (11/24/2007 7:48:06)

o.o I'm scared... lol

I should really make a new tag that uses this type of bg, just to show how hawt this tut really is.

Ya.

_Depression -> RE: Fiery Background Tut for GIMP (11/24/2007 8:27:24)

I prove that Fiery Background Tut is still my homie:
[image]http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a285/lozocara/power.png[/image]

Now, I did improvise the steps somewhat... so I'll just post what I did:
1. Brushed
2. Duplicated twice
3. Color Balanced the three layers EACH A DIFFERENT COLOR (violet for top, dark yellow for middle, red-orange for bottom)
4. Set top layer to Screen
5. Set middle layer to Overlay
6. Edit>Copy Visible
7. Paste (into a new layer)
8. Smudged Copy Visible layer
9. Set smudge layer to Color
10. Copy Visible
11. Tools>Color>Brightness/Contrast (lower brightness, raise contrast a little)
12. Lowered opacity of brightness/contrast layer to about 75%
13. Added text

I'm uploading the .xcf for all you GIMPers who want a hands-on look at what I did...
