1. Introduction

Welcome to my third guide! This guides will cover a very popular topic: Farming, and where to Farm. If you don't know what this term means, then this guide will tell you it what Farming exactly is. Ever you could acquire a lot of credits in a short time so you could get that special weapon/mecha you've been envying for, or need a lot of Experience, so you could use your favorite mecha/ weapons? Then look no more, because this guide will help you rack in Credits and EXP (Experience) like a Gold mine. Enjoy my guide!

[FG02]

2. What is Farming?

I'm glad you asked, and I'll answer that question immediately. Farming is a term used in games when you are receiving a large amount of Experience or Money (or in Mechquest Terms, Credits). Farming works like this: It's so easy, a caveman can do it, I think........

1. You think you found a Quest/ Place/ Battle that offers good Experince/Credits/Both.
2. You will do that Quest/ Place/ Battle over, and over, and over again. (This the truly repetitive part of "Farming")
3. Slowly, you build up a massive pile of Experience, Money(Credits), or both.
4. Once you have done that Quest/ Place/ Battle so many times, you will have found yourself with a large amount of Experience, Money(Credits), or both, depending on what you did to acquire those rewards that you have desired so much.

That's what Farming is and how it works!

[FG03]

3. How to Farm Correctly

Hold it right there mister! Before we start on the actual Farming, we need to know how to make farming as least boring, and quick as possible. Many of these tips are used among the high-leveled players. Today, my farming secrets will be revealed to you! So, let's take a look.

1. It's all about getting your rewards fast and quick. These ideals will speed up farming ten fold:

  • First, Pick a Mecha that can destroy enemies as quickly as you can.
  • Second, Weapon choice is a crucial key. Pick you best weapons, (As in weapons that finish off enemies really fast) and equip them on there appropriate spots.
  • Third, pick weapons that have Fast attack animations, and still hit Hard. This crucial factor is key to fast and quick rewards.
  • Fouth, Pick a good Attack order. Don't just spam random attack, pick an Attack Order that will do the best damage. Here's a good Example: (Thank you Speedy Fighters for providing this build setup for me!)

Chassis: Advanced Mysteraven V3
Front Shoulder: Crow's Star Cannon. (Flash Cannon Ammo)
Back Shoulders: Dual Strike
Head: Raging Bulk Blast.
Back Arm: Heavy Hook
Front Arm: Shiny Cutlass

Here's an example: We know that the Chassis attack gives you a +30% Damage Boost, and we know that these weapons when boosted by 30% extra boostage, do high damage. Plus, the Front Arm lowers defenses. So the Attack Order here would be (In order of use): Front Arm, Chassis Attack (A.K.A: Body/ Body Attack), Front Shoulder, Head, Back Shoulder, Back Arm.

The idea when coming up with a setup built for farming is the ideal of taking out your enemy out as fast as possible, so you can get your farming rewards out quickly. So always, when coming to farming set ups, you must think of these crucial factors: 1. Powerful equipment to do high damage, and 2, Something to always counter those nasty specials those enemies might have up their sleeves. This way, you will farm faster and more efficiently than ever.

P.S: If you ever think farming is starting to become very boring/ tedious, play/listen to some music from your IPod/MP3 Player, or do anything else that will keep you not-so-bored when farming.

[FG03.1]

3.1. X-Boost

With the Introduction of X-Boost into MQ, it is realitively the same as an Adventurequest X-Guardian Package. Here's how it works:

You can Buy this X-Boost from Tek's Mech's Rare Tech Shop. Once you buy it, You don't need to equip it for it to take a battle's effect. For every Battle you win with the X-Boost in your inventory, you can get 10% more Experience and Credits per battle! It comes in Packages of:

  • 1 Week - 100 Nova Gem's
  • 1 Month (30 Days) - 300 Nova Gems
  • Permanent - 1000 Nova Gems

Now, you may be thinking: "WHOA! PRICEY!!!!!" This is not the Case. 10% may not seem like much, but as your level gets higher, it'll help you level up more faster and with less effort than the rest of the competition does. If you can, I'd highly advise getting the Permanent Package as soon as you can manage to grab 1000 Nova Gems. It's the most Worthwhile investment in the game, save for Inventory and Mecha Slots.

    [FG04]

    4. Levels 1-5

If you really want to land the ship, go ahead, but battling on the ship is better as far as farming goes. I know it's tedious but you'll have to cope with it. Only beginning levels will define the Split in character type between Non-Star Captains and Star Captains. From level 5 and beyond Star Captains and Non-Star Captains will both have the ability to Farm at the same spots! (Isn't That Great!?)

Non-Star Captains: Well, it's pretty basic here with the Newbatron. What you want is to use the battle button for a good amount of time. Getting Credits at the same time will help you get better weapons from Tek's shop. Get some there, and get ready to battle the Strange Blip. When you defeat him, you'll want to battle him again. And again. And again, until you reach level 5. He's good up to there. DON'T buy the Level 3 Mecha from Tek's Shop; go to Soluna City and choose one from there instead.

Star Captains: All Star Captains get 200 NGs bonus with their upgrade. If you're a Star Captain already, then you have a good advantage here: Get the Kurosawa Okamoto from Tek's Mechs. Now here's the catch: You need to reach Level 5 within 24 hours. Doing this will give you a very good Nova Gem sell back on the Kurosawa. Other than that, farm to Level 5 using the Strange Blip. Don't land until you're Level 5. If you don't want to get the Kurosawa then that's fine if you want to save your NG's for something else, but there's not much that's worth getting at 200 NG unless you have a steady supply coming in. Or, you can also get the level 2 Monthly Rare mecha that is available from Tek's Dropship mecha shop, if you don't feel like usig your precious nova Gems. ( I suggest you invest your Nova Gems for an energy blade, as those come quite in handy.)

    Experience Spots

The Hospital: Enter the Hospital--> Emergency--> Autopsy mini-game
With a steady hand, you can rack up a good amount of Experience in a short amount of time. Good if you feel the need to level up very fast ion a short amount of time. In the mini-game, you can, if done skillfully, have received 100 EXP and 500 Credits by just doing the mini-game. Pretty good deal, don't you think?

    Credits Spots

Mecharoni: Enter the Pizza Shop --> Talk to Parma John --> Click the quest which reads Order #66
The fight may seem hard for such an Early level, but the rewards are definitely worth the trouble. If you think he is feresome, don't worry about it. Rusty Rat DOES NOT have a special trick up his sleeves (or mecha Arms) for him to win unreasonably. All he does is attack. Nothing else is bad.

    [FG05]

    5. Levels 6-10

Yay! Finally, you got more places to explore! But before we explore the universe in excitement and curiosity, let's look at the options when you are at Soluna City:

    Experience

    K&S:
ULTIMATE, #1 place for farming! Up to a certain level, though. Some people still have a few second thoughts about this, due to the number of battles. However, in both EXP and Credits, the K&S is a terrific place to farm!

    Mecharoni:
If Rusty Rat has become a Wimp by now, and he doesn't give you good enough rewards as he used to, you don't have to do Order #66 anymore. But, if you still want to farm off this place, go ahead.

    The Soluna Police Department:
The Mega Lupus fight (after you retrieve Clue #14) is a nice alternative for the K&S or the Hospital, if you can't use those yet. Just beware, like the rusty rat, he is quite powerful, so you should bring some good equipment for battle.

    The Hospital:
Another great farming place, it has good Experience rewards like the K&S. Most people claim this to be better than the K&S at Experience farming at these low levels. However, it's not just the Hospital in general; it's the Autopsy mini-game that helps you, as Icy says, "go from level 3-12 in under a day".

    GEARS University:
Warlic's office's quests aren't that good, since they're really just storyline quests. But there is one place to offer, Pandora's Labyrinth. If you have agile fingers, you can get yourself some nice rewards credit wise only, unfortunately.

    Credits

    Pandora's Labyrinth:Enter Gears University --> Elevator --> Houses --> (Choose a house to enter)
If you have agile fingers, you can get yourself some nice rewards. Once you know exactly where to go, it's fast and easy. The general recommendation is to kill the last enemy before treasure chest. Oh, and one more thing, If you complete the quest, you will join the house. Be careful with this decision, as you will not be able to go to another house if desired.

Order #66: Enter the Pizza Shop --> Talk to Parma John --> Click the quest which reads Order #66
Do this only if you think the rewards are still sufficient enough.

The Soluna Police Department:Go to Police Station --> Officer Duncan--> Open Notebook --> Page 16 --> Mega Lupus/Kerberos
The Mega Lupus or Kerberos fight (after you retrieve Clue #14). People claim it's a good alternative to the K&S and the Autopsy mini-game.

    [FG06]

    6. Levels 11-15

Okay, now that you've gotten more powerful, there are some better places to farm now. Here's the options that are the most viable to you. Oh, and one more thing, you should probably start farming for those powerful house mechas and the many rares Mechquest gives.

    Experience

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
You know the Drill. You should do the challenges that you can handle.

    Mega Lupus/Kerberos (Angry Wolves):Go to Police Station --> Officer Duncan--> Open Notebook --> Page 16 --> Kerberos/Mega Lupus
In the police department. go fight Kerberos, one of Cain S. Lupus's elites.

    Credits

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
    Same as above

Mega Spider: Go to Gears University --> Walk to an area with lots of Cobwebs, to the right of the entrance to Gears University.
This farming place is in Gears University. When you enter Gears University, you will see an area that has a lot of stick webs. Go there, and a mega spider will attack you. Defeat this guy, and you will get 80 Experience and 500 credits. The only thing you need to be careful of is his stunning web attack. Do this as many times as possible without healing.

    [FG07]

    7. Levels 16-20

Ugh, here's when farming becomes a nightmare. These levels feel so slow, it's almost de-humanizing. But the faster you get out of this level rut, the better, so here's a couple places you should go to speed up the process a bit.

    Experience

    Major Braddock Steele:

Non-Star Captains: Go to Major Braddock Steele --> Fight Pet
You can fight his Pet. Just watch out for those nasty special effects.

Star Captains: Go to Major Braddock Steele --> Mission --> Suicide Mission
SC: Do the Suicide Mission (eliminate all the SS units on the interface map.) Note: Don't Stray too far from the Healing Pad, as your escape might be cut off.

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
Recommended: Diner Challenge 7, or the Challenge that you can do without over exerting yourself.

Any Current War: Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

    Credits

Gears University Gears University --> Elevator --> Dean button (5) --> Starship Parts
Talk to Warlic, do starship parts

    Major Braddock Steele:

Non-Star Captains: Go to Major Braddock Steele --> Fight Pet
You can fight his Pet. Just watch out for those nasty special effects.

Star Captains: Go to Major Braddock Steele --> Mission --> Suicide Mission
SC: Do the Suicide Mission (eliminate all the SS units on the interface map.) Note: Don't Stray too far from the Healing Pad, as your escape might be cut off.

Moon: Travel Map --> go to the Moon --> Communicator/ Mission --> Power Cells Quest, Rescue! (rebel), Defend!
Power Cells Quest, Rescue! (rebel), Defend! Any of these quest will work like a Charm. So choose any of the three that works best for you.

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
    Same as above

Any Current War: Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

    [FG08]

    8. Levels 21-25

Finally, we made it to the twenties! Now you have even greater access to places, you should try to get to those shiny Advanced House Mechas. Because the sooner you get there, the better. Now, here's a couple places to be at.

    Experience

Bossfight! (Bandits!): Travel Map --> Go to Planet Westion --> Alamonia --> Go to Sheriff's Office --> Bossfight
Before you do this, make sure you have a reputation of 100 in Alamonia. The dialog may be tedious, but the rewards are worth your time. Don't worry, as this an easy fight, and he occasionally hurts himself for damage.

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
The normal: Do the challenge that is good for you.

Any Current War: Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

    Credits

Bossfight! (Bandits!): Travel Map --> Go to Planet Westion --> Alamonia --> Go to Sheriff's Office --> Bossfight!

The normal: Do the challenge that is good for you.

    Any Current War:
Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

    [FG09]

    9. Levels 25-30

By now, you have gone to great power, and your Advanced house Mechas have speed up your farming speed ten fold, but you're not quite there yet, so here are some places that will help you get there faster than ever.

    Experience

    Skipper!:Travel Map --> Gark --> Enter Town --> Juice Bar --> Bartender --> Skipper!
Skipper is really easy. Just keep in mind for those nasty Specials. Other than that, it's good to Farm at. Plus, the Juice option can heal you.

Defend Robina's Ship: Travel Map --> Lagos --> Talk to Prince Robert --> Crow's Nook --> Tetra's House --> Robina? --> Barracuda Reef Exit --> Robina's Rescue Ship --> Battle!
A shortcut: Go to Crow's Nook, talk to Tetra and do the Barracuda Reef quest. At the start head left to the exit and you'll find Robina's ship on the upper left corner of your screen.

A Short K&S version, that is scaled, so you can get you maximum desired rewards, but your level is not sufficient enough for the items.

100 Floors: Travel Map--> Westion --> Alamonia --> Roy Silver's Office --> Go to the Oasis --> Go to Firemane --> Delivery --> Evilcorp Space Station --> Replay Missions --> 100 Floors.
Pretty easy enemies. The only think you have to worry about is the fact that the Mecha enemies can buff their defenses, and that the Miner, 49er is quite strong, so you should bring with you a good energy Blade. Other than that, go on ahead, as the enemies are scaled only up to level 25.

Mr. Z: Travel Map--> Westion --> Alamonia --> Roy Silver's Office --> Go to the Oasis --> Go to Firemane --> Delivery --> Evilcorp Space Station --> Replay Missions --> Extreme Mr. "Z"
Star Captains change the level to extreme. Don't worry about Scaling, Mr. Z only goes to level 25, which means you can actually not worry about having him scaled to a power that is twice as good as yours.

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
Challenge 10. It's still good, but from here on, this spot begins to lose its once great luster as a farming spot, but it's still a good option

Any Current War: Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
Challenge 10. It's still good, but from here on, this spot begins to lose its once great luster as a farming spot, but it's still a good option. Basically, the same as the above details.

    [FG10]

    10. Levels 30-33

By now, we all know the drill: Experience farming has become quite tedious, but we want to be at the top, don't we? So here are some viable options to do.

    Experience

    Skipper!:Travel Map --> Gark --> Enter Town --> Juice Bar --> Bartender --> Skipper!
Skipper is really easy. Just keep in mind for those nasty Specials. Other than that, it's good to Farm at. Plus, the Juice option can heal you.

Battle Button: 330 exp at normal. Variety of enemies. Choose normal difficulty, as you can get your rewards faster than Hard or even worse, X-Treme.

Any Current War: Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

Lagos: Travel Map --> Lagos --> Talk to Prince Robert --> Previous Missions --> Defend Camp
Lagos is a tropical paradise for farming, and those nasty pirates won't hurt, as you probably got some good equipment with you.

The reason why I don't Suggest this Place until now is because of the reward levels, as the Rewards are for level 32-33'ers. Anyways, this is like a Scaled K&S, but with Scaled Rewards, so you can get maximun rewards for it. All you have to watch out for are those nasty Pirate Weapon Specials.

    Credits

Skipper!: Travel Map --> Gark --> Enter Town --> Juice Bar --> Bartender --> Skipper!
    Same as above.

K&S: Soluna City--> Knife & Spork Diner --> Talk to Maegwyn --> Contest --> do the challenge that best fits you.
Yes, some people claim this still has power, but you want to use this place, there are alternatives to this option.

Battle Button: Normal level provides great credits and exp. Choose normal difficulty, as you can get your rewards faster than Hard or even worse, X-Treme.

Lagos: Travel Map --> Lagos --> Talk to Prince Robert --> Previous Missions --> Defend Camp

    [FG11]

    11. Levels 33-35

Since the Cap was raised as of 8/19/09, there isn't much established farming places yet, but once a little time has passed, there will be more farming spots, but for now, this is all I'll have.

    Experience

    Skipper!:Travel Map --> Gark --> Enter Town --> Juice Bar --> Bartender --> Skipper!
Skipper is really easy. Just keep in mind for those nasty Specials. Other than that, it's good to Farm at. Plus, the Juice option can heal you.

Battle Button: A Variety of enemies, so it's not repetitive.

Now that you are ABOVE level 33, you can (probably) use the rewards from this quest, if you'd like to, at least, of course, that's your opinion.

Skipper!: Travel Map --> Gark --> Enter Town --> Juice Bar --> Bartender --> Skipper!

A replacement to the usual K&S. This is also good for credit farming too!

Don Tei's General Store: Travel Map --> Westion --> Khaeldron --> General Store --> HELP!

A possible replacement to Defending Robina's Ship. ShS Enemies are easy to defeat (With the right setup), as well, as having more Enemies. Could be the No.1 Spot until the New K&S Challenges are up.

Any Current War: Farm off of War waves, plus this helps by increasing the War Meter. But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground

    [FG12]

    12. Levels 35-40

The Level cap was once again, raised to 40, meaning that due to short notice, there aren't any new farming spots. Yet

    Experience

    Skipper!:Travel Map --> Gark --> Enter Town --> Juice Bar --> Bartender --> Skipper!
Skipper is really easy. Just keep in mind for those nasty Specials. Other than that, it's good to Farm at. Plus, the Juice option can heal you.

Lagos: Travel Map --> Lagos --> Talk to Prince Robert --> Previous Missions --> Defend Camp
Lagos is a tropical paradise for farming, and those nasty pirates won't hurt, as you probably got some good equipment with you. Same as above details.

A possible replacement to the usual K&S.

But also, if there's two sides to a war, battle for the Losing Side, or else the War may end too soon, causing you to lose farming ground.

    Great guide!
But for the Lvl 30-33 section under credits you could put the SC Xtreme challenge its hard to do but with the right mech its nice and quick!
might wanna put a advisory to go with your strongest mech though
And also I found that for SCs if you buy the submarine diving for treasure is easy and good money.
Mostly you fight the squid AND sometimes you get a shop with some nice mods.
But sometimes u get a few credits overall OK farming
    ALSO
I found that Pandora's labrinth works at lvl 33!
if you beat the last enemy you get 4.5k gold better than skipper AND capt zack!
he only scales to lvl 12 too!
by he i mean the mino-ton

vr11, what don't you get about "more time means worse farming"? The Xtreme challenge enemies have more than twice the HP of K&S enemies and stronger specials... say your strongest mech is warbear (farming god of MQ). It can 2-hit the K&S enemies, max 3-hit, which is 3 or 5 turns. The enemies in Xtreme have more than double the HP, meaning 10-turn (not hit, turn. The enemy's moves slow down farming too) or more fights for only slightly better rewards.

Basicly, with the Xtreme Challange, the added rewards do not outweigh the time spent. If the Xtremem fight takes 10 turns with your warbear, but they do not give three times the XP. Its more efficient to do 3 fights and get 3x XP than 1 fight for 1.5XP

That's what I just said... and the time differential is higher in any other mech (except reaper, whose DDoT's never have time to finish, which means it gains power).

except for the War area, are there any farming spots that scale above 25 yet?

Well the only spots that don't are steele (3-18) 100 floors, including Z and M13 (20-25) and non-scaled enemies like sc challenge, firemane (30X and 20) so skipper and rescue Robina are solid spots, K&S 10 still is the best farming due to the HP gap, because of which any level 25 enemy has disproportionately high HP, and any other enemy has even more, but K&S 10's enemies are level 23, so they're easy meat.

The new release is a very good farming spot.

Enemies are easy enough to kill with a default equipped level 34 scythe mech in 4 turns without the sonic dot head, an dyou face 4 of them in a row, plus the rewards scale up to hard.

@Pyronix: No, it's not really a good spot. Because you have to walk around to find enemies, and you have to walk back to the healing pad to heal, thus losing valuable farming time.

i want to reccomend a mech

Steampunk Model AN-1, about 200+ Nova Gems from the Second Almonia Bug war, and it combined with the shock knuckles at level 19 allow you to lower enemies damage and highten yours, and the SKs have a chance on the fourth hit to do up to 200 damage with a critical hit. I am using right now against ShawowSythe So I suggest to get it NOW

neromaster: No can do - That's a Rare Mecha, that means when it goes rare, it'll become obsolete - with that said - Rares aren't scalable, that means you'd be restricted to only earning a base amount of credits, while Newer Mechas that'll come out will be a higher level, able to earn you a better amount of Credits than than the Steampunk Model AN-1 in due time.

Captain Zack has the same Exp and Credits compared to Skipper.
However, he has a tendency to chop of my mecha parts

You should add Don Tei's spot to EXP and credits for levels 25-35, it's almost exactly Robina's ship. Also, consider adding the blackjack game as a credit spot, because it can give up to 40K in the time it takes to win about 3 battles, and averages probably 15-25K if you're a good player.

Nixkreig: Not Adding them, you see, Blackjack gives you the risk of losing credits, so I wouldn't do that option. I won't Add Don Tei's Shop either due to the fact the specials on those enemies are too hard for them.

I want to add that f you have a high HP Mecha like the eagle, for under lv30 characters, one of the best places to farm is the new assault mecha arcade.
first of all, you have to turn the scaling off, then enter the id #6, you will battle a lv30 rolith. it is not hard as his mecha wastes much mp, and he will be without mp before he finishs you, so you will have the rest of the battle to win, winning 2700 credits and 300 exp
