I think the AQWorlds Guides needs to be created.

Reason?

So far all Guides are being cramed into the Farming Discussion Thread and I just feel it's time to create the Board. This way much more information could be added to the current Guides.

As for Moderation,

I guess either all ArchKnights or all AQW ArchKnights could Moderate this Board untill AW Guides ArchKnights are cjosen. :)

It's a good idea Zy, but having either ALL Arcknights or ALL AQW Archknights moderate, would mean that they would have even more on their plate than their current "job" on the forums. Do you not think just a select few would be more appropriate?

Ofcourse a certain few who specialize in AQW Guides would be much better,

But like AQW GD and WF GD, untill the right people are chosen, the Boards work better with all ArchKnights Moderating the Board.

I think that is a good Idea, but if you think about it there are many reasons why it couldn't happen.

  • Guides are made for topics, and if they were separated from the topics then no one would look at the guides. An example is, I made a guide, but it is only valid if it is in the AQW Q&A. If it was in a guides section then it would mean that my guide had no value.
  • Also the moderation involved to keep updating the guides, and adding corrections would be phenomenal. It would just end up like teh Art Suggestions - full of spam.
  • I doubt people would actually read them, and you would get no feedback of if people were using them as comments would have to be disabled, but then how would you update if it was locked?

There are good reasons for it, but also a lot of reasons why this couldn't really happen.

As much as I would like it to, this probably is a no no.

The Guides Boards are for Game Guides, your Guide was a Forum Guide.

Art Suggestions Moderation:

Greystar - Busy with AQW GD too.
Minar - Inactive, busy with CA too.
Cubal - Moderator = Busy.
AQW GD AKs - Busy with AQW GD too.

The reason AQW AS is full of Spam is due to lack of AQW AS Staff.

I suggested ALL ArchKnights Moderate AQW Guides untill a good number of AQW Gudes AKs were chosen.

This is not a good enough reason. I use the DF Guides all the time, plus Guides are used alot. That's why they're Guides. And really good Guides get reffered too alot = More Useage.

One problem I see with a Guide only sub-forum is how AQW lack content to actual use of said boards. The best uses I can think off my head are for gold and XP farming, but those can be covered with one thread for each one if spam is a problem. Most AQW quests don't need help, seeing the Wiki gives enough information to the user. Once AQW gets complex in terms of gameplay, I agree a Guide Section would be good, but for now, we really don't need one.

I think an AQW Guides board would be much more useful after stats are released. After that there would be many more guides to write and it would be worth having a few AK's for that board instead of making those AK's useless.

Kain, there are plenty of things to write Guides about.

Off the top of my head:

- Training certain Classes.
- Defeating Bosses.
- Farming Locations.
- Reputation Guides.
- Equipment/Look Guides.
- Location Quests Guides.
- Storyline Guide.
- Gold/Exp/Rep/CPs.

So, I feel;

And the Wiki only gives information.

The bolded ones are the best in my opinion. There is a a guide on how you look but it is still a matter of opinion. The Storyline Guide is the one I feel is the most needed. With Stats this is how the list would look like:

quote:

- Defeating Bosses
- Farming
- Builds
- Best weapon to use for certain builds
- Rep
- Storyline Guide

I don't know about the Mods/AK's, but I would hold off until Stats are released.

@Below Oops, sorry if it sounded like I was suggesting guides. I actually meant to say that it would be much more helpful after Stats are released.

Ebil Twilly, it seems you're starting to suggest Guides. That's not what this Thread is for.

Now,

To stop Spam of duplicate and useless Guides, I feel (If) the AQW Guides Board should be like DragonFable Guides with the Pending Guides Sub-Board.

I really need ome AQW Moderators to give their opinion. (Circe, Elnaith, Wallo, The Legendary Hero).

Oh, there is a storyline guide already, in the AQW Q&A - it has been there for some time now.
Indeed, some guides would be nice, and people can PM guides to AKs to look at - some have been approved(liked the hacked account help guide). I find the idea of a guide forum alright, I believe MQ had one when it was about a year old(if memory serves), so I don't really see a reason not to have one.

Sure, it would need to be managed, but every section does. I would actually suggest to make it a almost like a sub forum of AQW Q&A or AQW GD so the guides are used more and looked at, rather than have it tucked away in it's own section.

Icy: I meant highly detailed version of seperate Chapters of the Storyline. :3

Okay,

I think you're right that it should be a Sub-Forum.

Again, like DragonFable, as a Sub-Forum in AQW Q&A.

Zyrain: The storyline has a step by step walkthrough of each area, rather hard to get more detailed.
I actually was thinking of a subforum inside the AQW Q&A forum, but, indeed, similar to Dragonfable's system would be nice.

That would be a good idea, but it would require a lot of moderation. Also maybe have a feedback thread too, so that people can get advise on their guides.

I would be happy to help collect guides etc, but yeah a sub forum would be a better idea.

Yes, the Guides Board woould need quite a bit of Moderation.

I think AQW Guides would be best Moderated by:
- AQW Guides AKs
- AQW Q&A AKs
- AQW GD AKs

Actually, I feel that the AQW Guide AK's (if any) should be the only ones to moderate the board. But if there will not be new AK's, then the Q&A AK's and the GD AK's would be fine if they were willing.

Ebil Twilly: I agree that AQW GD AKs should only Moderate if they are willing,

But AQW Q&A and AQW Gides are/would be a similar topic and therefor, I think all AQW Q&A AKs should have the same responsibility as AQW Guides AKs. :)

- Training certain Classes. There's no "secret" in training classes, they all level up on the same way, and end up with the XP guide in a way or another
- Defeating Bosses. I don't see why that's needed. Excluding a few mobs, every monster can be defeated with a group of people, and those with special abilities tend to die in a way or another to it. People will obviously notice attacking Vath first is not a good idea after one kill.
- Farming Locations. Farming thread.
- Reputation Guides. Will end up with XP farming in a way or another.
- Equipment/Look Guides. Already have one on the GD, and it's doing fairly well.
- Location Quests Guides. Wiki is for that.
- Storyline Guide. As Icy pointed out, there's one on Q&A.
- Gold/Exp/Rep/CPs. Why are you saying it again? >.>

My comments are in bold. I'm still waiting a good list of guides to prove a board is required. And what is not a good reason? Can you be a bit more specific?

And don't say anything to do with Moderation or Spam...

@Kain: There can be a guide as to how to use the classes efficiently.
@Zyrain: I think this is a great idea. I don't like having to go to the Farming Discussion Thread just to find guides. But I also think that it would be better to implement this section once stats are released.

Hm,

I don't think it matters WHEN the Board is/if made.

Set up idea: Maybe like the Clans/Clubs Board where there are no replies.

We currently do not feel the need to open an "AQW Guides" forum, partly since it would not house enough unique topics to need an entire section devoted to it, and partly due to the additional maintenance required for it - more boards mean more spam and the need for more moderation.

As Kain pointed out, the number of topics that require guides is not that numerous yet - we do not need another board in the AQW section currently devoted entirely to a few guides that can be found in the General Discussion section.

Locked.
