For mercs:

Yes, there is no reson to have dex except for defensive purposes.

For Bounties:

No, it is very effective.

For Mages:

No, it is effective.

Ok so far this build had done the best but I am losing some faith in a mage high dex build.

http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/5690/highdexbuildver4.png

The above build averaged 85%. Three of my losses were to strength mercs, most with dex in the 60s. One mage blocked my bot twice and he had 72 dex.

My high dex is hardly blocking anyone. If it does block someone it blocks them for the entire battle if they attempt to strike but that is extremely rare.

I have tried to use everyone's suggestions but I am still open to more.

Will look forward to your supercharge post Dax as I did find that supercharge was not really working.

Blocking often happens when you have a dex of 78-100+. I rarely block with 69-72 dex which is why I NPC all the time and test its rates.

@frost
funny enough even BH with 45 dex can block 2+ times a match constantly.
even if i doubled the dex he had.

@gold:

Then use your unblockable duh. I mean your an str merc and you got a gun. What meaning of 'unblockable' with high str can you not understand in there even though people's dex are lower than yours. Oh and don't expect people to always get hit by strike.

To add onto Shad's report:

I created a similar build except I used the skullfire blaster and a different skill tree:

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/7631/dexbuild.png

My experience was a lot different then Shadronica's.

I averaged a 90 win %. Most of the losses were do to an over mass of criticals. I did lose to some strength mercs, but I also beat many in the process. If you're stunned by them, you can kiss your hind quarters goodbye.(unless they block) My blocking seemed a lot more frequent then Shadronica. Also, my stun rate was high as well.

Bounties become more a nuisance with this build. A key tip for battling them is using defense matrix. Regardless of your high dex, you still need to use it.

Final stats:

50 battles
5 losses

and u think a physical gun does much damage against a 84-90 dex BH?
hardly does 20-35 damage compared to their 125 hp.
while some even go insane on hp and decide to put 140.

Dax
Remember The Name

Here's the prototype for my supercharge build: http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm82/Dax94/DaxSupercharge1.png

I played about 30 PvP battles winning 28 and losing 2. It is generally effective but tends to fall short offensively in extended battles making it somewhat vulnerable to tank mercs who feel the need to HP boost. It handled the 5 strength mercs I faced but was fortunate with a couple blocks. If you go first against a str merc you'll almost certainly win. Simply technician, malfunction, zooka, supercharge = win. Ultimately it could use a few tweaks but shows promise.

Dax on the topic 'is Dex(Dax) a wasted stat'...lol. On topic Dex is really important, especially for defense, and if not for blocks, consider it for hitting. As evidenced above, tech mages are able to utilise dexterity offensively, and bounty hunters as well to a lesser extent.

Off topic:
Dax ive been tweeking a dex build for weeks, you will find that its much more effective to use Overload. It only has to be lvl 6-8 and takes much much less energy and has that bonus 30% chance to stun.

On topic:
Plain and simple, no Dex no blocks, which means strength will rule this game even more.

I do find overload works best but I am curious to see what Dax comes up with on supercharge. He has posted a build above but I think that build would be a handful to juggle for a lot players.

I am not done myself yet in seeing what I can think up.

This is a purely experimental idea Shadronica but you could try and drop to 3 focus (lower tech, sup, str) and get 110 hp but you should maintain good support because your nothing without support in this game. I only say this because personally I dont like using low health in my builds and 110hp means you're not affected by agility.

I've always taken more of a liking to Technology, but yes Dexterity is a useful skill in my humble opinion.
