Interesting update.

I just feel that support spamming is now running amok, espicially along mercs. Or maybe only along mercs.
Xendran made a very good post the last days, sadly can't find it right now
He showed other connections between stats and their effects (like dex for critting and not support, iirc).

And stat modification isn't the complete way, there are also skills.
For example bunker buster, +1 damage per 5 Tech is a bit much, compared to its def piercing and critical ability. Maybe raising this to +1 per 7 Tech? And reducing its piercing to 10% like Artillerie.
Or EMP-Grenade. Unblockable, undeflectable, and for 10-15 energy a complete strategy can be easily destroyed (str + maul->berzerker is NOT a strategy). To fix this, not EMP is to be altered, but Atom Smasher. Lets look at Intimidate/Smoke Screen/Malfunction - their damage part can be blocked, their debuff part not. Atom Shmasher is... well... smashing atoms, as long as the skill connects (a block is a connection) "something" should happen, just like with the debuffing skills. Maybe making Atom Smasher deflectable instead of blockable? But then the percentconversion is maybe to high again.
Thinking of Atom Smasher, Assimilation comes to mind. Its weak compared to its place at the 4th tier of skills. Maybe raising its base to 5 Mana steal at Skilllevel 1 and from then on +1 per lvl, and for the damage part including a 10% defense+resistance piercing? Defpierce for physical staves, just in case someones wondering.
There are surely more skills, but these are what instantly jumps through my head.

But overall nice update, i especially love the second tier of stat diminishing, and to comment the reduction of hybrid, although i hate it it didnt affect me as evil as i thought at first

Not sure if the -1 in Health really was necessary. But, oh well. Looking forward to next week!

Thank you for what appears to be the removal of the locking on the lesser populated servers. I notice that both Legion and Doom are open with a little over 100 peeps on each. Thaaaaaaaaaaank you!

Of course right after i post this Doom get's locked. Did the thresholds get lowered at least to allow the servers to become active more often?

@Zenix Oh come on nerf Mercs bunker buster? Seriously just buff the other classes move gee I am so sick of nerfing crying out loud NON OF YOU WANT BALANCE! You only want whats suitable to you for crying out loud you guys thinks its fair to put huge stat require on Mercs skills yet put nothing on any other classes skills why? Because its that one specific build and clas sthat you cant win against so it be best suitable to you to beat it no one cares about balance just whats suitable to them.

Great... now I hate this update

Defensive strategy is a lot lowered meanwhile Tank stat abuse is a lot stronger
And the new stat scale start too soon, it break my Tech requirement... I have to waste 2 more stat uselessly to use weapon

BlueKatz, you might as well switch to the subclass called the battle mage and see which stat drives the sword because the mages at the top of the leaderboard both have physical swords not staffs. They wanted to make updates that affect all classes and when I wrote that these updates affects the mage class more in defense and resistance I got jumped on by certain people and called a liar and an exaggerator. As mages we might as well face it we will never get anything to improve our defense and resistance while mercs are complaining about -1 point to the hybrid armor.

Well after this update I still noticed the mercs still abusing one stat or another, I don't know about bounties and of course quite of few switched class, the real problem all along is skills ignoring defense, resistance, or both. Another problem I tested high support one time to see if I could get the same amount of damage as mercs do with high support with aux I did not even come close with a physical weapon not even with them malfunction with any energy weapon so one has to wonder why does support give them way more power then the mage class and that is my observation.

Badly i'm low on varium... Guess i'm one of very few Mage left in game, very few Mage who use staff and very tiny little Mage who use PHYSICAL gun and aux :D

I'm planning to buy few thing and not sure if I should get varium. So can anyone tell me when will bunnyzoka end? Maybe I can get more money just in time

Since Ed is into making money and alot of players want the new Aux they might keep them available through May the one to ask is Titan himself or maybe they should do a rain check type system where if a player wants it but will buy it in the near future they can get it even aafter it is gone.

I was thinking to put away the staff forget about assimilation and make a battle mage build like I had in the past because when I had the sword players response was "oh crap" what I do is see which stat gives the sword the most power and that is the stat I use.

I say try doing some of the free stuff to get battleon points.

I was Merc most of my playing time. Especially 5 Focus with different skill set was my love, sometimes high support. Almost never high strength. Just recently i returned from Hunter back to Merc.
The reason i mention Bunker is its high damage potential and the usual high tanking power of this build. Just after the last update i retrained to bunker, although my equipment is not optimal for it, i'm fine.
And it is heavy what you can do with bunker-tanks
Sure they could upgrade the other classes skills. But its easier to downgrade the trouble makers.

In this thread i only leave opinion on what directly (= with the smallest thinking work of me yet still biggest effect) can be done

Do u mages want evry class to go through what u experienced the answer seems like yes. About the -1 point of of hybrid, yes it our onl skill that improves def and our only passive. Bh's and TM's complain that ur skills cost nrg. Well if u dont know thats the definition of PASSIVE( u dont have to activate it). Tm's why should u care it costs nrg u have reroute just get attacked a couple of times and u have it all back. BH's why should u care u use dex boost it gives u more dex gives u even higher chance to block, and nrg shield just helps, but with blood lust why would u need a sheild or with SA. On another note Balance. Ppl want it some for fairness to all classes, some because their a TM, and some just to help them selves. Well let me tell u something if u want balance this is what it would be, evrybody has same skill, stats , weps, etc everybody will have a chance. Sound fun? Imagine it just imagine it. U CAN"T ACHIEVE BALANCE IN A PVP. Balance just ruins a game especially a PvP. I'm not against mages getting a buff or any other class for that matter. It's just all these precautions/updates aren't necesary. Also technically u nerfed merc by -3 not -1 on hybrid.

well the two tier systems is not working either I still see support and strength abusers and if your defense is lower than 28 and your resistance is 24 or lower the strength mercs still get large damage because no blocks that was with technician, with 100 strength first strike he got 50 points of damage after that it was a losing battle. Then if you have dex or tech higher than 55 you see diminishing returns on defense and resistance. Since the updates going back to September of 2010 maybe further the mage class has went through hell trying to find a good build and it seems to get worse with each upgrade. Next upgrade how much more will they affect the mage defense and resistance and yeah yeah yeah everyone defense and resistance got affected but the mage got affected the worst.

Now that I have lvled up to 33, I feel great and have a renewed interest in ED.

The balance that this update gave has been impeccable.
All the variums have an equal chance or at least some chance to win because of the nerfs to piles of str or support (mostly).
Support still rules though because it affects many factors of luck, deflection, heal, and for mages, DM, and malf.

This update left behind the competitiveness of non-variums.
They do not have the advantage of using the gamma bot which still has focus on it.
They cannot simply compete with the raw damage of the gamma bot.

There has been benefits to non-variums too.
It has become easier to lvl up with power hour and encumbrance.

In all, this update has made ED a better game to play.
