Lets put this baby to rest right here and now.

You are never going to have all classes equal!!

Yes I understand that there is problems with different builds from different classes. There is problems because there is so little to experiment with at the moment. (Strength, Support or high Tech builds and not much more and all with 5 focus mostly.)

I don't know why the mage class here is so weak because a mage in other games usually do well with casting and healing. The Bounty Hunters still rule 1v1 and Mercs rule 2v2. Its been a tradition. I don't know why mages do not fare as well but we do have some wonderful mages here and they prove that with good working knowledge of a class that mages can be crafty and get good wins but it is done with a little more difficulty than the other two classes.

We really need a fresh approach and I still live in hope that the new classes will help.

Titan and Nightwraith are going to have to be careful about how they introduce these. I hope the guys take some full consideration of what they are about to implement this time.

Which is precisely the issue.

Mercs and BHs can no-life through this game, while mages have to be extremely flexible in each battle.

 Hmmm, I did 100 or so battles as a mage with a staff and I tried 3 different builds that don't have a lot of focus. So no robot, you might be onto something. You can win, but it is so slow and as Demios said switching hybrid just wreaks malf and the up to +30 resistance energy shields hurt as well from BH.

What really amazed me is that with a -42 technology malf, the mercs and the BH just continue to use their bots and do good damage!

It is clear to me that the 1v1 game is being dominated by 5 focus robot attack builds (gamma bot) or the Str builds that Mercs and BH have. The only option for mages is to play 5 focus or just have a slow kill playing style that doesn't suit the current Epic Duel format as slow kills have no real purpose...

I could see that if the game had tournaments or other features where getting reliable wins were justified then the mage class would be acceptable for those battles.

Well Goony I am glad you tried with a staff instead of a sword so can see that the players coming into the game as mages only have that weapon all the time and can't afford robots, swords or the high end pistols we have. I still stand by this statement if any player uses nothing but a robot to fight the battles they have no skills. I would like to know is this a RvsP or a PvsP game, someone tell me which is it?

I experimented with different levels of defense and resistance and found to limit the damage of the bot your defense hase to be at 28-34 resistance at least 26-32 more is better but if it is above 55 tech or dex then the damage is increased so as we could see you get punished for trying to have good defense and resistance. Strength I had above 55 and got less damage then below 55, when I metion 55 I am refering to the base not total. People say the stat progression affect everyone, yes that is true but the mage class got affected more than the other classes. Before the stat progression and so called diminishing returns, with low tech and dex we could have a good defense and resistance and at that time I survived two bunker busters and two artillery strikes (2vs2) and now only on occasion I could survive two deadly strikes.

At first Assmilation was great but the other classes wised up and put more into energy while still abusing different stats making Assimilation a less useful skill especially when blocked. Instead of messing with the stats they should have made Assimilation unblockable, take away more energy and they could even made it take less damage in exchange of more energy, that way it would make the merc and bounty take more points from the stat they abuse and put it into energy. People wrote that will make mages overpowerd and some wrote Assimilation is fine as it is, which they play as a merc or bounty now but if you want some sort of balance that is how you do it, make players take points from one area to put in another area, not mess with the stats.

When I proposed allowing mages to combine the energy and physical armor to give the mage defense and rsistance in par with mercs and bounties non mages wrote that will make the mage overpowered but they did not come up with any solution. Combining the armor would not be free but at a cost so it would take quite a few battles o come up with enough credits to do the task.

Because the mage with a staf is less likely to go first everytime we have to come up with ways to use less energy and out last the opponent.

Remember this, we all were low levels so give them a fair fight but not an easy victory but if they are nasty and rude, DESTROY THEM!

Exactly @ all of the above.

Mages were definitely left in the cold when it came to the new skills. Shadow Arts is easily the best of the new skills. Blood Shield was laughable but did improve slightly. Assimilation is a joke.

1) Assimilation requires a class specific primary. SA and BS don't.
2) Assimilation is blockable. SA and BS aren't.

If anything I would have truly expected more complaints about the varium BH's especially in 1v1 and quite possibly Juggernaut.

the only thing that annoys me about str BH its that if ur fighting another str BH, the one who goes first wins UNLESS u block the enemy once or twice. u might be able with robot but doesn't allways work
sometimes theres a stun cheapshot combo. but the stun dont work very well.

Wow; just malf a merc, he have 29-33+9+1 resistance, guess, how much he had before i malfed him; 33-42+9+1 resistance; my malfunction removes 33 tech; he has 20-24 +1+12(hybrid armor). Obviously this guy has a +5 focus build; so, I just got my butt kicked by this guy, like a complete beat down. on top of that I got called noob! after I boosted 2 times. But here is the funny part; I battled atleast 33 mages today, and beat all of them, out of this 33 mages that I battled, at least 9 of them were elite mages (meaning, the have a great understanding of a good build and how to use it); and I beat them by more than 46 hp remaining; but, this merc just whooped me, after I boosted twice and healed; he didn't even heal or boost; but still he defeated me by 60 percent of his hp remaining; and since the stats of this game doesn't work that well; I didn't block any of his attacks, or Crit on him, even though on those stats I out matched him by more than 20-30 skill points. For my own benefits, am posting this 30 min after it happened, so i wont let my emotions get the best of me :). And yes; I changed my build; but yet the problem still exist....In the cyber world of ED, this is reality; and am getting tried of it. I appreciate those players, who go out of their way to make intellectual builds; and NO!, this are not Strength BH, Strength mercs, Robot/tech Mercs, or Support Mercs; in other words, I appreciate mages!; the only class in this game that cant get away with letting a computer play for them; the actually have to improvise why they are playing, and put some kind of thought during the battle phrase.

not really, u can usualy out smart the other guy
but in str bh vs str bh there's no outsmarting
unless u get lucky block him once or twice or block him once and crit, u cant win. and if he goes first and he blocks u, might aswell just refresh the page and not waste time

This isn't truth for mages, nor Mercs; rather is true for BHs, and by BHs, I mean, strenght BHs. Well Nvm, this is true for all strength build, any class.

What part of usually do you not understand?

Read all the words in a post. It will make you a better forumite.

If you only post to brag then go onto the fame thread.

If you only post to moan then make it an informative moan or at least an entertaining one.

u could have it lower. By raising Strength to 48 u have 12-15 at lvl 3 bludgeon.
12+33=45
45x1.35= 61 physical damage.
15+33=48
48x1.35=65 physical damage.

I don't understand, strength build is not the only build in this game; so a mage on mage, and one or non of them are strength mages; the player that goes first is not always the player that wins.

@King Julian: Do you know how bludgeon works? It adds the percentage after you attack not before.
eg. LV1 blud. 11+33=44 damage 44-24+12=8 8+29% is about 11 because you round up in epicduel. You shouldn't really bludgeon a merc anyways...

@edwardvulture: u sure cause u have ur base damage and u add it by %135. If it were to add after u attacked u would be doing regular damage it improves ur damage like massacre and berzerker.

Again ur like putting words in my mouth like a said them just try ive hit with rage around 55 damage

Please allow me to extrapolate.

If two players of the same class and similar builds meet and then usually the one who goes first wins.

I am not focusing on any particular class nor any particular build just two players who are mostly similar who are of the SAME class.

I tend to look at the bigger picture. Not just focus on one small aspect.
