Hi there. Thanks for giving me a little giggle with this thread. Now let's be serious for a moment: I've been a moderator in this forum for years, and a member of AQ's game staff for four years. Prior to being appointed here, I was running DF Suggestions. So this is not my first head mod position and the power has not "gone to my head" today. I've been power-mad for years, actually, as any AQer can tell you. ^_^ Furthermore, I have enforced rules in AQGD too, sometimes even being harsh there, but oddly enough, they understand why I do it and they respect it and thank me for it. Why? What's the huge difference between them and you? Because they know I'm doing it to improve the forum community, and you all think I just like locking threads. It shows how very little you actually know about me. I'd actually prefer being able to loosen things up and have a nice casual forum where I don't have to do anything. I'm actually much lazier than I seem. But you haven't given me reason to believe that you need MORE laxity. In fact, from all of my observation, I'm convinced you need far less. You were all given a chance to follow the new rules of the AEF when you made the switch. And we tried giving you laxity, to help you adjust to the rules, because we knew things were hard for you. But that transition has come and gone long ago, you should have been following the new forum rules a long long time ago. And you treated the laxity we gave you with disrespect, trolling, flaming, and all around disagreeableness. What you are seeing now is the backlash to that misbehavior. This forum does things differently because it has a much different type of community. We host people of pretty much all ages, races, genders, religions, etc. We are a family forum. As such, when you choose to disrespect and be rude to each other, you have no way of knowing if you're insulting a teenager or a little kid (who might get really hurt and upset) or an adult (who might complain to our staff), and the fact that you actually DARE to post about how I'm being unfair to you for putting my foot down and locking a handful of threads shows that not only do you think that sort of behavior is okay, but you just don't care who you hurt or whose feelings get trampled. Guess what: I do care about that sort of thing. And things are going to be different now, BECAUSE I care about that sort of thing. I'm sick and tired of seeing how downright nasty you all get towards each other over simple discussion topics. It ends now. The poor AKs in this section have been trying their hardest to give you plenty of rope. Let me tell you, you have not been nearly as "oppressed" before as you say you have been. You don't even know the meaning of the word. I get it, you're angry at the game staff for this or that. It doesn't excuse being downright rude to each other, or to my AKs. If you have a problem with game staff policy, try talking to a member of game staff. Don't vent your anger on each other, or attack one of the AKs. Let me be perfectly clear in laying out the most basic of my rules: Respect each other, or else. This means stop the flaming, trolling, etc. It also means that I better not see anyone getting pissy with my AKs just for doing their jobs, because that especially ticks me off. The AKs are doing what is expected of them, and their forum decisions have nothing to do with game staff. Now I will say, when the community has shown me that it can stay within the rules of the AE forums and will treat each other with respect, we'll loosen things up again. But right now, I need some convincing.
