"What is going to happen next !?" "Is _____ going to be released?" We don't know. MQ typically has new releases on Fridays, but there's no guarantee that something will be released on a particular Friday. MechQuest is not on a defined release schedule; new content is released when it is ready. The only time we know that something will be released is when there is an announcement by the staff - which is the same time that you find out. There are two places this kind of thing will be announced: The MechQuest Design Notes, and the MQ Newsletter, which you can sign up for here if you aren't already receiving it. Both of these are also posted in MQ GD, so if you can't find the information in a tagged (=MQ=) thread there, or in one of the other sources, that means its almost certain that nobody else on the forums has an answer either! 2) Where can I find information about this weapon/mech/uniform/etc.? You can find comprehensive information on all of MechQuest's Missions, Locations, Characters and Equipment of all types in the MQ Encyclopedia. 3) How many Mecha Models, Equipment Pieces and Starship Items can I have? Additional Mecha and Items slots can be bought using Nova Gems from Admina in Soluna. Each slot costs 200 NGs, and both SCs and normal players can purchase an additional slots. Star Captains can also buy items to customise their Starships, known as 'House Items'. They have their own inventory space, with additional slots being purchasable for 200 NGs each from Lisa aboard their Starship. Mecha slots: Default: Star Captains 30 Non-Star Captains 13 Purchasable: 70 SC Max: 100 NSC Max: 83 Weapon: same for all players Default(All): 30 Purchasable: 100 Max: 130 Starship items: Default: 20 Purchasable: 70 Max: 90 4) Where can I train my stats? What do they do? You can train your stats at the Mecha Piloting 101 Class in G.E.A.R.S University in Soluna. You can find a guide on Stat Training here. The exact formulae for the effects of the MQ stats have not been released, but the following are the general effects: Power = Increases Damage Accuracy =Increases your chance to hit Efficiency Lowers your energy expenditures Perception = Lowers your damage taken Reflexes = Increases your chance to dodge Luck = Does a lot of stuff Just putting 1 point into a stat is unlikely to change things noticeably, so if this is what you've been expecting, this is not a bug! Most players choose to focus on two or three stats, and put lots of points it, rather than spread them out over all 6. 5) Where should I farm? What is the best equipment for my level/overall? For Equipment Comparison questions please ask in MQ Q&A. Be as clear as you can and don't ask for too many items to be compared. For Battle Strategy questions: Something that's likely to provoke a discussion, for example 'How can we farm new Boss monster X', or 'What setup is needed to beat the 100 rooms on Extreme' can be posted as its own thread in MQGD. Anything that is just looking for a quick answer, such as asking about what tactics a boss enemy from a past release uses, or advice on a good setup for an old quest, should be posted in as its own thread in MQQ&A. Remember, you can always discuss Strategy for a new release in the MQGD =MQ= tagged release thread. For Farming Discussion, we have a new thread in MQ GD, which you can find here. There is also a guide on farming you can find here. If you want to write a Guide on any of the above, you can submit one here. You can find completed guides here. Anything which doesn't fit into these categories is probably best posted as its own thread in MQ Q&A - If it belongs somewhere else, we'll let you know. 6) Can you heal yourself during battle? There are several mechs and weapons capable of healing a player in battle. Examples include but are not limited to the QWN- 1138, the Werewolf, and Mechronomicon. Unless you have one or more such parts equipped on your mecha, then there is no way currently to heal yourself during battle. There is no way to heal yourself during Energy Blade Battles. 7) It says I need 9999999999xp to level, is this a bug? No, that is not a bug, it just means you have hit the current level cap. As soon as the cap is raised, any experience you have will go towards the next level. If you have more than the amount required to hit this level, then the XP more than that needed to get the next level will not roll over. 8) How do item upgrades work? Why is the upgrade pack lvl 999? To upgrade an item, you need to have two things unequipped in your inventory - The pre-upgrade item, and the upgrade kit. All you have to do then is open the Upgrade shop, select the appropriate choice and hit merge. If this isn't working, double check that you haven't got the item you want to upgrade equipped, and ensure that you have the credit upgrade kit for credit items, and NG kits for NG Mecha. The reason the Upgrade Kit has a level of 999 is just so you don't equip it by itself - It still means everyone can buy and use them in the Upgrade shops! 9) Where can I get the Star Captain uniform? As long as you are a Star Captain, this can equipped either at the Star Captain's Club or at 'Laser eye for the Space Guy', the Uniform shop in Soluna. 10) Why can't I equip my front shoulder weapon? This is likely because your mech does not have the ability to do so. Some mecha are unable to equip items in some slots. 11) My weapon's showing 999 cooldown / My weapon's disappeared! What's happening? There are a few things that can cause these effects. Firstly, some mecha have 'Last-Resort' weaponary. These are weapons that cannot be used until your mecha is damaged to a certain degree; an example of this would be the Decimation body attack of the Decimator mecha, which cannot be used above 25% HP. Secondly, some enemies have attacks that can disable or damage your weapons. If your weapon is disabled, it will display as 999 cooldown until the effect wears off (this depends on the enemy - it won't take 999 turns!) If your weapon is damaged, then it will be un-equipoised from your mecha, and you will have to leave the battle and re-equip the weapon manually. An example of an enemy that can both disable and damage a weapon is the Pirate Sniper. Finally, if you are using a weapon that requires ammunition, ensure that you haven't run out! 12) Why can't I equip 2 Mods to my Mecha? This depends on the Mecha, and whether or not you are a SC player. First off, all NG mecha have 2 Mod slots, and all players should be able to fill them both. All SC-only mecha have 2 slots. All F2P mecha have only one slot, however SCs can add a second slot to any F2P mecha with a SC special - This can be done in the Star Captain's club, for free, using the 'Awl' merge item, which is bought there. 13) Is it possible to change Houses? For the majority of the time, this is a no, which means you should consider your choice of House carefully! The exception to this for the last three years has been during the G.E.A.R.S Games events, where a 'Betrayal' option has been available. Important things to note about this process are that once you have Betrayed a House, you cannot go back to your old House until you betray all three Houses, in which case your Betrayal count will be reset, and you will have the option to pick from all three Houses all over again. Once you Betray a House, your old House Mecha will become useless (reduced to 10 HP and 1 EP). 14) Can I change my character's name or gender? The game currently does not have an option to change these features and there is no information that this will be released. If you create a new character, you will be able to choose a new set of options for the chracter. 15) Is there are way for me to get experience or credits quicker? If you upgrade a character to Star Captain, that character will receive a bonus of 25% extra experience and credits for each battle. There is also an X-Boost item available for you to purchase with Nova Gems which will give an extra 10% experience and credits for each battle. There are also weapons that may give extra experience, credits or both for that battle on a successful hit. These are generally rare items. Examples are: Lucky Star Cloverblade Series and the Nimble Cutlass. These bonuses stack (that is they are added to each other) but you may reach a cap for the amount depending on your level. Upgrades & Special Currency: 16) What are Nova Gems? How do you get them? NovaGems are a special currency in MechQuest that you get by buying them with authentic currency in real life. They are used to get the most powerful, useful, and rare items in the game. They can also be used to buy extra inventory space. You can buy them, win a forum contest, or get them for free via AExtras!. There is also a small chance of receiving either 5, 25 or 50 NovaGems on any visit to Ballyhoo, who shows advertisements from our sponsors at the Cinemech Theatre in Soluna. To purchase NovaGems, visit the MechQuest Upgrade Page and scroll down to the bottom. Any player can obtain Nova Gems for his/her character whether that character is a free player or Star Captain. Becuase of the special value of Nova Gem items, the percentage of your purchase that you get back when you sell them is different to the 10% you get on all Credit items. If you have owned an item for under 24hrs, then you can sell it back at 90% of the original purchase price. If however you have owned the item for over 24hrs, then you can only sell it back for 25% of the original purchase price. 17) What are AExtras? AExtras is a new opportunity to earn NovaGems through third party offers. You will have to fill out forms, complete surveys, and give your personal information, but the majority should be free of charge. Most offers require you to sign up to a website, answer a survey, buy something, or sign up for a trial. Each offer will show you how many NovaGems it is worth if you complete it. If you are eligible and you complete the offer, your character will automatically get the NovaGems in MechQuest! More information can be found here: http://www.mechquest.com/aextras/offers/default.asp 18) Star Captaincy, what is it and how do I get it? Star Captaincy is the act of becoming a Star Captain. They are the people who have paid to support MechQuest by buying a Star Captaincy, which is a one time fee. To become one please follow this link to the Account Upgrade page where you can become a Star Captain or buy more Nova Gems for your character. Alternatively, if you live in the US, there are a select few stores who sell 'Upgrade Cards', which you purchase in-store and then all you need to do is enter the information on that Card online to receive your upgrade. You can find which shops sell those cards here. If you're experiencing any problems with your upgrade, you can find the appropriate help here. 19) Can I delete my SC/Founder Character? Will I get my Nova Gems and SC/Founder status back? Star Captaincy is tied to the character slot on the account. Single upgrade characters can NOT be deleted, but with 6 pack this means that you can delete the character, then remake it, and it will regain the SC status. Founder status is tied to SC upgrade date on the character. This means that if you delete a founder character, the new character is not a founder, due to the character being 'upgraded' to SC on the day you create him. If you delete a Star Captain character their NG total will be lost. Any new Star Captain character you make will begin again with 200 or 2200 Nova Gems, to which you may add if you wish. 20) Verifying your Guardianship/Dragon Amulet, what does it do and where do I verify? After verifying that you have an account with Guardianship or a Dragon Amulet, you can gain access to the special shops aboard the ship on its way to Soluna and at Tek's Mechs. They contain few low level weapons via the Verified Weapons shop and the special Verification mecha: The Riptide. In addition, if you have completed the Planet Liath missions, you can access to the Mecha rewards shop for verified characters. You can also save default equipment at Tek's shop in Soluna. To verify your Guardianship follow this link, to verify your Dragon Amulet follow this link. Yes, you can verify both for one account, however doing both does nothing different from verifying just one at this time. 21) What is a "Founder"? How do I become "Founder"? If your character was upgraded to Star Captain before the end of Sunday 2nd December 2007 (EST) this character automatically became a Founder. Founders received a special Founder's badge that is proudly displayed on their character page to show their support of the game from its very beginning. They also have exclusive access to the Knightron SE mecha. It is no longer possible to become a Founder. Miscellaneous: 22) I've found a bug, where do I post it? If you have found a bug then please post it in the MQ Gremlins Forum where it can be noted and taken care of properly. 23) Can I fit the screen size to my computer screen? If you use Internet Explorer, you can go into Full Screen. Just press F11, or go to View -> Full Screen. Alternatively, you can resize the game window itself by changing the width and height by changing the numbers you see in the URL. For example: http://mechquest.battleon.com/game/default.asp?w=950&h=697 http://mechquest.battleon.com/game/default.asp?w=850&h=597 http://mechquest.battleon.com/game/default.asp?h=550 http://mechquest.battleon.com/game/default.asp?w=950 24) Help! I've lost my Password/Username! What do I do? If you have lost either of those then please check the MechQuest Help Pages for further assistance. Also, for any other account problems you may experience you can use the MQ Account Manager to change your email, password, and op in and out of the newsletter. 25) What is "clearing my cache" and how do I do it? Sometimes you will get a corrupt temporary internet file whilst playing MQ, causing the game to freeze up. "Clearing your cache" is first, logging out of MQ, then cleaning out all your temporary internet files, and then logging back into the game and trying again. The Clearing Your Cache post in the Crucial Forum Information explains the process in detail. 26)How do I check I've got the latest Flash plugin? You can see which Flash Plugin you are using at the bottom of the main MechQuest game screen's initial login page. The latest version is downloadable from here A special thanks to Sir Gnome and PD for some of the original contributions.
