Hello , everyone ! Now as many of you guys know that the mission types are only 3 : challenge player , NPC challenge and buying random stuff . Wait , what? Only 3 types ? Yes , 3 types , and that includes one that requires you to challenge strangers / fellow players , while the other one makes you waste in-game money . Well , i'm not complaining or anything , it's just that there are times we need to save up more cash and that sometimes the NPC challenge missions can force you to blow up more Credits for retrains and boosters . Plus , one event that really made me think that there should be more types of missions was -- you guessed it -- the Harvest event , and it's all thanks to the infamous "Ooky Spooky" mission ( why u no give pumpkin sword easily Snork? ). It had alot of people forced into dummying , due to the insane 40 challenge wins from other players . Again , i'm not complaining , in fact , i like the missions , but i wish there could be more types like ...

* Random PvP Missions - simply see Leaderboard's system of coding and don't include NPCs as wins .
* Achievement reaching goal missions - to do this kind of mission , you have to achieve certain cheevos to finish / unlock it .
* Varium-only exclusive mission - only playable when you buy a certain package of Varium . <-- BAD IDEA :(
* Cutscene mission - watch a cutscene first .
....and more!

Well that's all i could think , but this isn't a suggestion , so.... What do you guys think?

I agree, the missions basically seems a bit random, but... Varium only mission? That just sounds... wrong. Now, some of you might say I'm biased because I'm not Varium, but meh.

Random PvP Missions are alright, because having to scout for challenges is completely monotonous if you can't enlist a buddy's help.

And for Story-line Missions. Currently, it's a hash and mash of random jobs that send you running all over the place. How about having a Cutscene at each major section of the Phase's Missions, and one at the end. Also, make the Missions more level-oriented, as low levels completely miss out on the phase, and just looking at the Cutscene would be very wierd. They could also lock the Cutscenes before the required Missions were completed.

There could also be:

Scavenger Missions: Search around in areas for the required items to turn in.
Report Missions: Locate a certain area then return to "Mission Control".
Mini-game Missions: Play a certain mini-game to complete the task.
Repeatable Missions: Every day, have a bounty of 750-1250 Credits placed on a specific NPC. Then, make every Real-Encounter battle have 5% chance to spawn the NPC when the player accepts the Mission. This would make Credit farming a lot more fun, as well as being incentive to battle.

Hmmm , yeah you're kinda right , a mission that requires Var purchase is a bad idea ( forces people to buy Var ) , and the "cutscene after mission" is a better idea .

Lord Aegis you have a good point; more variety in missions would encourage more people to do them and have fun with 'em.
Like Drinde said though, I don't like the idea of a varium-linked mission because it locks out much of the player population, and would not reflect well on the dev team imo.

I agree with you Lord Aegis,

Its becoming more like AQWorlds, accept a mission, kill stuff, accept another, kill stuff, loop that a few times, accept mission, put some stuff onto the ground, accept mission, kill the boss, the end.

Now lemme just cross out the "Varium-needed-to-get-mission" idea since Sylvan and Drinde are correct .

Delivery missions: the npc where the mission starts gives you something (a misc item, a weapon, ...) or requires you to go find an item (through npc fights, buy in shop, some other mission,...) and give it to another npc (could be a present, an invite to a challenge, some bomb package, a bacon cupcake, ...) the other npc (that you delivered to) will give you a (small) rewerd for delivering the item to him.


Also guys, keep in mind that the engine probable doesn't support many of these ideas, so no matter how much they'd like to get them in-game, it might not be possible.

It would be more awesome if it had a ala MQ style of minigame , and yeah , some might not be possible ( like determine the "hacker who stole your account" ) .

actually, I'd like some of the mission functionality from AQW (actually being able to link missions, not just "keep collecting doodads"), turn in multiple things (eg turn in some tomatoes, dry pasta, and a 9 volt battery for Brunson's mama's Penne ala vodka), have a mission chain unlock a cutscene, etc.) as well as a greater variety of mission types. I've been asking Titan for random PvP missions literally since the first mission I wrote.

I don't mind but, i just want less challenge battle missions. They are so annoying as I never get any challenges. For the Alydroid blureprint scrap mission I'm only on 3/5.

I like this one as long as the drops will only show for you when you accept mission. If it is repeatable mission, then drops would have to be random every time (or you would know where they all were)

what about a really rare mission that requires you to be in the same room as a mod?

it should award an acheavment or something.

@Battle Elf: I doubt it's as simple as just spending a week on the code, especially with Cinderella nagging lovingly persuading Titan to figure it out.

more variety of missions would be really nice, but if it comes at the cost of balance I could never support. ED is essentially a PVP game and if PVP is
broken, then the game is broken. I would love an event based around balance. like take a month to focus all updates on balance, and encourage players
ingame to post in a new balance topic, one for suggesting ideas to fix balance but NOT discuss them. and best part of all, roll out balance updates every
few days based on player suggestions [picked by the staff of course] and let the players be the testers, they could then post all results to another topic.
After the month is up you could revert ED back to how it was, or keep the popular changes etc. I think it would be a great event.

a lot could get done in a month, but it requires taking some trust in the player base, which is why I suggested encouraging more players to post on forum.
the players are not the evil enemy, we know many don't mind lack of balance if it favours them, but I bet they would mellow to it if the game was balanced.

I know some have accused the staff of purposely making class/build combos OP on purpose, to generate profits. I am not saying that, I just think they need
to trust us a bit more. I know ED is "their precious" and I completely understand as I hate letting other people work on songs I wrote etc but maybe it is
time to give us a chance. what harm can really be done if the game can be put back to how it was before the event? nothing wrong with asking for balance

Missions are all I have left for this game, really! And the forums! If you can get really cool missions out with support from Titan then I promise to spend less time here!

Upgraded-player-only missions. Aka, missions that require the player to have purchased varium in the past. (All the other AE games has a ton of these for their respective memberships.)
Daily missions. Missions with small rewards such as 1,000 credits or 5 var that can be repeated once a day.
Mini game related missions. Missions that require you to play and beat some sort of mini game.

^These are the three that are in the highest demand currently.
