You'll get a admin message saying that you shouldn't be talking about this sort of stuff.

That's bad.

For example, hyperlink it to a site filled with viruses, bam, user clicks, say goodbye to your computer.

No. To. This. Thread.

A hyperlink is basically a link. So if I were to say in-game "google.com" the link would become clickable. If someone clicked it, they would be directed to Google.

But why is this feature needed?

I just made this for fun and I had youtube in mind....I mean it would really help for people who could make vids and share them. I am sorry about the risks for viruses, I was just thinking on the positive side...
I know this feauture is not really important, but I like to discuss about ideas. :/

So then what if there could be a hyperlink filter- it could only accept links from certain domains, like youtube.com, preventing any sort of virus situation.

Inconceivable!

Unfortunately, something like this creates more problems than it's worth. This feature was added to AQW for a short period of time, but the spam created by players abusing the feature was too big of a problem.

In the end, it would have to be extremely filtered, which brings to question the value of such a feature. YouTube may be safe in terms of viruses, but it still creates an area that open for advertising. You wouldn't want to see central station full of advertisers, would you?

I agree with Ashari's points on this one. There's already a large amount of players just saying "F4F" having hyperlinks would be possibly worse.

Yes, other than "virus infected" links.

Players may also post, inappropriate sites which wouldn't be suitable for younger more juvenile players. So to be able to filter multiple Unwanted sites would be very hard for the developers.
Also as said already, there would be a lot of spammer who advertise other sites of things such as "fame me!"

Also I have seen many experiences in past online games where bot accounts spam hyperlinks to Scamming and Hacking Sites. And since people believe they can get "Free Varium" on these sites, it'll also be a big breach of account privacy, and would increase the amount of scammed accounts. This would of course also increase the amount of work for the AE Helpteam.

So this idea may be a good idea, if there was a filter set to only Artix Entertainment links. But there are lots of negative affects to this as well.

I can't see any positive effects for the game with that being implemented.

I am also having quite a bit of trouble understanding the way things are run in this forum, where some suggestion posts are being allowed and some don't. It seems everthying is arbitary to one's taste and there is absolutly no logic behind it.

Very disapointed, again.

for regular chat, i would say no.
private messages aswell.

HOWEVER, in Headquarters messages (factions)
they should allow the use of hyperlinks.
this would sort of be an improvement for factions.

Umm...

Why not just use expandable captions? When the player either clicks or scrolls over whatever, a detailed caption pops out. This is very comparable to how skills display in-battle.

Right now you cannot even type a proper website address, let alone Hyperlink it. It would be better if the system were to stay like this.

I support this idea. But as long as some sites are censored. Like inappropriate sites that are of pornography should be censored from the game. Or any that will lead to violent images. Maybe a censored hyperlink if you know where am getting at.

Hyperlink is already sketchy as it is. With the advent of url shorteners such as TinyURL, now any site can be your own personal trolling tool, and can be very hard to trace.

I would highly disagree with this hyperlink thing. Pornography, Virus-filled sites, Scams, Phishing...the list goes on and on and on. Basic answer. No.
