I'm about to tell you guys about a different take on the new balance situation. It might not seem new to you, personally, but I haven't seen it being discussed a lot, so I'm making this thread.

Do You Duel With Dignity?

Basically asking, do you try to duel with unique builds, despite difficulty, or do you overkill certain stats to simply have an easier way out?

Before anyone gets on my case,this is a discussion I'm opening up, NOT a guilt inducing rant.

I'm opening this discussion to mainly as you guys how you feel on this take on dueling; having your own conscience play a part in it.

How do you win? What do you do to win?

Do you think that you SHOULD abuse stats, simply because its easier?

I have Blood Commander which buffs 69 Strength, Intimidate which nerfs 58 Strength, Auxiliary at 60 minimum damage, Pyro Fly, and some other things like skill cores.

 Yes, I try to fight with what I consider to be non-copycat builds, even though it means getting owned more often.
I would desire that everyone did that, but each to their own.

I ' attempt " to use the build I made nearly a year ago for BloodMage, my 5 Focus tank build...
It fails a lot these days but at least It's more creative than what I see these days...

 i dont duel at all

cause i attempted many different unique creative builds some well known ones too inorder to counter the OP builds .

it failed miserably against the OP classes i got my face smashed against the floor .

so then i attempted to counter the strengh build specifically ( which was what i was running into mostly) i managed it and was beating strengh builds but when i ran into everything else i was having serious issues taking them down ,

so i found my selve forced to go strengh cause it had a reasonable chance of killing another strengh build assuming i got the first turn (cause thats the most important thing in battle as of omega ) and it smashed anything but a strngh builds face off the ground .

then i got so bored of the build id been forced to play to compete and so angry that my varium meant nothing "paid too loose" as the none variums but it (all we want is a small advantage)

i went into retirement

Many of my unique builds that I had in delta now fail due to strength builds once again getting yet another buff. It is annoying to say the least, so in order to counter them I have to rely on luck when it comes to certain overpowered builds. While I don't mind luck it shouldn't be at the point where it is 100% needed to survive against OP builds.

 Dignity maybe but an undying resolve to use the same build throughout the life of my character is there. I started down the road of a caster at the latest of lv 24 with Caden's Curse and it has been my defining build since then. I have been using some variant of a caster build since late '09 early '10 all of which come out of my mind. I don't know if people copy my caster builds as time goes on but I won't claim ownership of any of my caster builds so I don't mind

am the only one with my build, both the build I made as a merc, and the one I made as a BM, now the one I have as a BH, haven't seen any 35 BHs lol, nor do any of them have my build. Do I duel with dignity? it depends, I despise strength builds, never found them fun to use, but I really enjoy support builds, in other words I would spam support just like a strength abuser spam strength, only problem right now, the advantages of strength strongly overweighs that of support, so I using other build(not strength).

If support builds become mainstream and Oped, I will still enjoy using it.

 My low level tech mage builds have always used the same strategy. Omega is no different, except now I get to utilize cores.

 I don't like following the "exact' same build crowd, I have an energy draining- 5 focus- rage takin tactical merc build.
So far in omega, no one else uses my strategy, that i know of.
I use aux (with the 3% stun core) and then if its a merc strength abuser, i take energy (after they have used either double strike, or maul). Then if they gain mana back with generator, i use atomic smash. If i need healing, i heal if not, I use surgical strike. Then heal if needed, or for a light heal, generator, by then i usually have rage and use robo special (infernal Android)

I personally use a hybrid/tank Blood Mage build. It's probably similar to what @Calogero mentioned, since mine also has 5 focus. That build is here. Not that I want this thread to become about posting Builds or anything, but I'm just saying. It's meant to counter the STR abuse, as I block attacks like Double Slash/Berzerker a LOT with this build.

so your busy chopping away their mana while the have their way with your health.

Interesting strategy, now if only reach 0 mana meant a win.

I used my 144 hp build with 18-22 support and 8-10 strength
I'm not so much of a fan of Omega, the base HP/EP thing is interesting, but not what we needed
What we needed is a nerf to the overwhelming amount of strength

Sir, once i make it to where they cant use berserker, I can heal 3 times in a row. Surgical Strike, Heal, and generator.

And no, I only use atomic smash if they use generator which means they didnt attack me, I'm basicly only giving up 1 round, which is energy shot.

I use a build which suits my needs and is fun. I'm also dignified and respectful.

Agreed, although it provided stats for other builds, it also greatly increased the use of strength, especially with bloodlust. This actually made strength builds stronger, not weaker.

I use a five focus build but all of my wep stats are focused in strength and support... And I don't talk smack (normally), but I have comiserated with fellow variums :P

Since the I actually HP EP buff, i am having a much easier time against STR builds. I actually lowered my own STR in the process. With the build I was using, beating them was very hard. And if they went first... ouch.
Now I turned the tables, and I surely win a lot more! :P

I always try to make the build I have most fun, while making it the most viable as possible. I don't follow or copy the OP builds, I tend to avoid using them, actually.

I make builds specifically to annoy the OP build of the time. For example since the current OP build is berzerker merc I have a Block-based build.

Yep..me too, except i used an energy taking build, hard to get a block build with tactical merc.

I use support build because it's fun, reminds of me of the times in early gamma and has a pretty good win rate in 2v2!
