I felt so confident about the characters I had trained until the bosses came. Now I want a better character, but most are rare right now or are soul gem (bosses, master/legendary forms, etc.) But thank for the list, I'm going to try some of them after Vergill is done killing me.

Nope, he is one of the OP bosses. I could have beaten him if it wasn't because I obviously wasn't allowed to draw A SINGLE Stone Wall thanks to lady luck >.>

That list above was fun! So I made one too.
Here's what I think the best characters are for each element, Non-SG version:

Neutral -- Augustiner/Pikeman General (they have the same cards)
Earth -- Minotaur (weirdly enough, you may actually get better draws with this guy than Taurus since he has a smaller deck)
Energy -- Lightning Wolf Master (He wins by default)
Fire -- Pyre Witch Master (Also default, but doesn't mean she's not awesome)
Ice -- Cosoma (Who else would I rec? :D He has the smallest and neatest Ice deck)... Xmas Fiend is ok too, I guess.
Light -- Founder Champion (if you have him), or Master Paladin (Cupidtheus is a little bit less aggressive than Paladin, and Pac Knight is a very aggressive Veteran, but unfortunately he doesn't have Blessed Strike. But holy hell, if he did, I would recommend Pac Knight sooo much)
Water -- Revonturkey (He heals pretty well for a bird-boy... plus imagine losing to a level 20 Cosplaying Rev! I'd recommend Alpha Pirate, but his deck is too big right now and most people who have him want to evolve him at some point)
Shadow -- Rev Egg (for all defense, or to join Riniti's cult), Vampire Lord (great attack), or Shadow Priest if you can't get Vampire Lord for some reason (the Priest doesn't have Empower... weird)

No one can survive that map, not even Nulgath :O You didn't follow it correctly ;_;

FC is in theory a SG character since you needed to buy SG to get him.

And I was going off of their cards, non-SG, and non-perma rare status, preferably.
Technically, Vampire Lord has the more versatile deck because he has an Unblockable. You need those for Void Reflection/Counter Attacks. So I recced Vampire Lord.

@Tally
I like the Drake too, but dual Element characters are still to clunky to use right now, and he depends almost entirely on that Ironhide for defense. In a drawn-out level 20 burn battle, he wouldn't do as good.

VL is still stronger than VK.

He got 2 less 2 dmg cards than VK and more 5 dmg cards. So he got lower chance too draw a weak card.
