So I decided to do this again. Give it a shot.

Backstory of The Kingdom: Arcania was once the name of a group of mages in a kingdom called Camelot long before. They were partly responsible for the protection of the kingdom alongside the knights. But what they mainly did was the development and practice spells that would help benefit the kingdom in many ways. Everything seemed to be going well but, a rival kingdom named Ashdor was jealous of Camelot for having Arcania was part of that kingdom. And so one night, Ashdor attacked Camelot. Ashdor's primary attack force mainly consisted of skilled warriors that far surpassed the knights of Camelot. Before long, it was just the Arcania elite that were left protecting the king. Arcania's most powerful wizards knew very advanced combat spells that easily defeated Ashdor's armies. When the fighting had stopped, the last of Arcania and the king checked the state of the kingdom. What they found was devastating. Every building was destroyed and everyone who weren't the Arcania elite or the king were dead. The king was so in shock that he stepped down and left the title free to take among Arcania's last members. They had a vote and voted their most powerful and wise wizard, Merlin. Seeing that the kingdom was way beyond repair, they decided to look for a new location. They then found the Hill but they found other kingdoms nearby. Over the last few years, Arcania has built its kingdom, taking in people to become their citizens and teach them the way of magic.

Accepted on one condition: I suggest you add what magics are allowed in the kingdom, to give me a good idea of what you can do, and what are forbidden (If any).

Hrrrrm... I just thought of something. I'm assuming Merlin as the leader specializes in all types of magic? If that is the case, I will allow it, but the greater the magic the more it will drain you. Try something I deem too much, like resurrecting the dead with no support, and I WILL kill you off. Generaly it will follow the normaly accepted laws of magic: if something is too much for you you will die, you can be supported by other mages or other sources ETC.

So basicaly, don't be stupid with your magic. Okay?

And DON'T TAKE THE OUTSIDER ONE ON ONE YOU WILL LOSE.

This is their main import. Be it grain, corn, potatoes or any other staple of living, Coinnigh can provide. Most of the basis of what people eat comes from Coinnigh. If you want exotic fruits and vegetables though, you'd either need to give them the magic or technology required to grow it. But most people make do with what there is. They also have a large supply of livestock, and one of the biggest fish lakes on the hill, which also allow them to export fresh water if necessary.
They're also great cooks, and many of their population have set up restaurants in the other kingdoms. Their specialty is spaghetti with cream sauce and bacon.

But while having control over the food trade gives them incredible power already, they have enough military to defend against some of the other kingdoms. The Uirlis Feirme have turned many basic farming tools into weapons to become somewhat deadly heavy fighters, and the Brotherhood of the Pan used pots and pans to create light infantry regiments. They also invented the rather useless egg rifle, which launches eggs at great speeds towards their foes. Sometimes they might also add some compost to the mix, or a bit of the more acidic vinegar. Not very deadly, but definitely not fun to have in your eyes.
So while they cannot defend against the Outsider, they can damn well put up a fight if another kingdom tries to invade their country. Naturally, they ought to bring in a few soldiers from other places, but they don't need to rely on them.

The weapons are of poor quality without professional smiths and they need their tools to survive, so they rely heavily on smithing Kingdoms.

They aren't very intelligent either, coming from the peasants of the past, so they don't know much in terms of practical knowledge aside from farming and cooking knowledge.

Backstory of The Kingdom:
Coinnigh wasn't a kingdom before the Outsider came. In fact, it was made up of most of the peasantry of the entire world that survived. The people who could plow a field gathered on the hill and created the "Kingdom" they live in now. As former peasants, they knew the terrors of dictatorship, and avoided it. Feirmeoir became the unofficial person who ran the land. He helped manage affairs with the outside, punish criminals, build infrastructure and plan defense. So in effect, he is the king, except that he doesn't live in a castle, rather a humble abode like everyone else. He meets with most of the town representatives to convene about what to do. So it's like a mix of a democracy and a monarchy. No one really cares what it is, because it works and that's good enough for most people.
Currently the Kingdom is rather small, consisting of three major cities, fifteen small towns, a forest of apple trees that takes up around a third of the land and a lake that takes up a sixth. The rest of the land is all fields and city. The main towns are called Feirme, Theich and Feirmlahm. It's a small place, but the soil is so fertile that it can produce more than any other place on the hill.

Specialty: Soldier training.

They specially train any fit person willing in the arts of combat, until they are the most skilled fighter in the keep. Once they reach that level, they leave to do as they wish, stay to help train other recruits, or to be traded to other kingdoms. Unfortunately, very few soldiers can be traded each time, due to the fact that so few actually are able to complete their training, and become the best.

Backstory of The Kingdom: The people of Farrenel started out as a small group of elite soldiers, who ended up getting lost in the wilderness around the hill, due to the meddling of the Outsider. When they found the hill, they attempted to conquer it, but were stopped by the other current Kingdoms of the Hill. They decided to make their camp at the very top of the hill, around a giant redwood tree, which later evolved into a stout keep. They taught the local villagers everything they knew about the art of combat and warfare until they died, and their elite training secrets have been passed down through each generation ever since.

Outsider Personality: The Outsider lived a pretty sheltered life. He's passive-aggressive, cynical, shy, and secretive. He's self-conscious about himself and his actions. He feels a lot of guilt whenever he harms other people--which isn't often but still.

Outsider Backstory: The Outsider is an alien from another universe. On his home planet, it is tradition for a male who has come of age to undergo a trial to become an adult. He has completed the other steps and now all that remains is to destroy an entire world by himself. Unfortunately, the world chosen is where a strange race known as humans live. The Outsider must lay waste to their lands and kingdoms so that his people may colonize it. Until then, he cannot return home for that would bring shame and dishonor upon his family. The humans have proved resilient and tougher than he thought. In the beginning he was excited about causing death and destruction but the novelty wore off and now he's just tired of it all. What's worse is that he's starting to develop feelings for these fragile creatures. After observing how the humans live, he's starting to feel bad about what he has done. Though their customs are foreign to him, he can still recognize family love and friendship when he sees it. He misses his own family, friends, and especially his soul mate, everyday he's on this planet. It's a shame he has to destroy these humans and their happiness but there's no other way.

Outsider Personality: Intelligent, Meticulous, and a twisted form of playfulness.

Outsider Backstory: The outsider has destroyed every civilization the world has known, over and over again throughout history. The Outsider enjoys destruction, it has purposely left its mortal playthings alive to rebuild and restart, letting them set up their little castles to be knocked over again and again. Even that gets boring however and the last time The Outsider went overboard and destroyed nearly all of its toys at once. Now it watches the last humans; it playthings set up the last game, it will make sure there is great fun to be had.

Reason why you think you'd make a good Outsider: I know how to stay in character, and much prefer the slow decay approach over just flat out assaults, I want to have the players squirm and make it fun.

Specialty: Extremely religious, they know and teach powerful healing magic. There god, Berlaire also occasionally assists them. As well as this, they are artisans and masters of art, music, dance, and theater. They are also the one place that contains libraries and schools of higher learning.

Backstory of The Kingdom: The mountains were barren and cold, devoid of laughter and music, until Berlaire arrived. At first he was nothing more than a musician, able to heal minor wounds and diseases. Soon though, the people of the mountains began to realize the worth of Berlaire. He became idolized as a god. The people loved him for his seemingly endless wisdom, and his strength in the face of danger. Berlaire knew however, that he was not eternal, and that because the people were reliant on him they could not survive on their own. He realized this not because he was vain, but because he knew it to be true. So, he went to the heavens, searching for answers. Whether this story is true or not, the people of Delphon still live by it. Margaret Lancast created the city of Delphon many years prior to the outsider. She created it as a place to admire and adore the god of the arts and peace, Berlaire. Her small kingdom is full of high, marble columns, and soaring buildings of gold. The people of her city are all adept artisans, able in almost all of the arts, as well as common healing magic. The kingdom of Berlaire allows no weapons within their walls, as they think it an affront to Berlaire. The city is always filled with the sound of laughter and joy, and although war occasionally strikes Delphon, the people always find a peaceful way out of it. Praying is mandatory, and at midnight every day, the people of Delphon pray to Berlaire for assistance. Suprisingly enough, Berlaire occasionally heeds their prayers, granting them their wishes. Is it really Berlaire though, or is Margaret merely trying to appease her people, and fuel her own needs...

Kingdom Motto/Rulers Motto: "Berlaire is the whole one. Berlaire is our wholesome leader. Berlaire claims righteousness."

Amon and Salene are accepted.

So now we have:

Magic (Good for offense)
Food (Good for staying alive)
Soilder Training (Good for offense)
And Arts and religion and stuff (Good for culture)

If anyone else wishes to apply, I suggest that you look at these and think about what niche you can fill that may be needed. You don't HAVE to, but it would help in the fight. Course, there is always The Unnamed...

Also, due to the nature of this Outsider's powers, Rez will be PM'img me his actions rather then posting them on the thread. BEWARE...

Erm, I was going to make an app for a kingdom of engineers. Useful for a lot of things, really. They could make farming tools, weapons, toys, fireworks. Might that be accepted? The title now says "apps closed" and I don't want to go to the trouble of making an app if it's just going to be rejected offhand.

I'm not sure my kingdom would be strictly necessary, but I have some ideas to make it fun and interesting, and it would give more to work with.

Rez has requested you guys don't know. It's a secret action. When he uses it I will post Secret Action Made, and you will have to resolve it with nothing more then your ingenuity. don't worry too much, I've decided secret actions will have limits to them, so you should not see it too much and be able to figure things out if you do.

Also, I've decided to leave apps open for a day more.

Backstory of The Kingdom: Smithia has always been a favorite residence of smiths and craftsmen thanks to its' forests and mineral deposits. Several decades ago, however, it was attacked by a rival nation bent on seizing its' resources. The war was looking hopeless, when one of the kingdom's best engineers developed powerful weapons for the Smithian army. With these weapons, the Smithian repelled the invaders. The childless king appointed the engineer his heir. Since then the state has encouraged cutting-edge inventions. In recent decades the kingdom's alchemists have discovered gunpowder. The current king is the son of the original engineer who was given the throne, and is skilled at both engineering and statesmanship.

Well some kingdoms were around before, and others came after. Many no longer believe In the outsider any more, so it is up to you if you believe.

By the way, Margaret isn't the best leader. She is mainly focused on her own personal needs, even if that means helping the outsider *wink-wink*

Also, Margaret doesn't actually believe in Berlaire. She is going to be an "interesting character"

I'd like a little more clarification on what we can do. Normally in a forum strategy game you can do whatever your character is able to do and could reasonably decide to do based on their in-game knowledge. Specifically, for right now, I'd like to know if we can do the following things:

1. Collect taxes. (Say every in-game month.)
2. Buy and sell from other kingdoms.
3. Raise or lower taxes. (With consequences for too high taxes of course.)
4. Deploy all or parts of our armies and arsenals. (Details of which can be provided, by PM if necessary.)
5. Gift to other kingdoms.
6. Meet with leaders of other kingdoms.
7. Spy on other kingdoms. (Actions and results presumably sent via PM.)
