Tathlin: Your basic training is now complete, my friend. Your safeguarding of the Eye has earned the faith of all three of our allied kingdoms.
Tathlin: Purify the Eye of the Unholy, and take your rightful place as a full-fledged Knight!

    Tathlin: Excellent! The magi are preparing the purification ceremony now, so we will have time to talk.

    «You don your Squire's Training Armor and meet with Tathlin.»

    Tathlin: We have a bit of time between now and the ceremony, friend. Have you thought about which kingdom you intend to join?
    «You»: Yes, I have.
    Tathlin: I'm eager to hear your decision! Which kingdom are you joining forces with?

    «You are given the four kingdoms to choose from.»

    «Kingdom of Stormfallen»
    Tathlin: ....
    Tathlin: What did you just say?
    «You»: You heard me, Tathlin. Don't make me repeat myself.
    Tathlin: This... is a joke, right? A very cruel, cruel joke...
    «You»: No, Tathlin. I have made my decision. I will join Stormfallen and side with the demons.
    Tathlin: When... when was it that you decided this?
      «If you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy out of Urgoth's hands previously...»

      «You»: It wasn't an easy choice... but in the end, it is the right one for me.
      «If you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy for yourself previously...»

      «You»: You wanted to use the Eye... but I know that it belongs around MY neck.
      «You»: It was then that I made my decision.
      «If you had chosen to give the Eye of the Unholy to Urgoth previously...»

      «You»: When? What a silly question. From the start.
    Tathlin: Do you not realize the trouble you've caused, «You»?
    «You»: Stormfallen can offer power that you cannot. It's quite simple.
    Tathlin: It is NOT simple! I told you all of the tales of Stormfallen's merciless slaughter of humans...
    Tahlin: And you would join the demons in slaughtering your own species? No...
    Tathlin: Surely that Demon Queen... she has... bewitched you somehow.
    «You»: No, Tathlin. I chose this path of my own accord.
    Tathlin: Then... I hope you are prepared to accept its consequences...
    Tathlin: You... you... you TRAITOR!
    Tathlin: I would never allow one of my own trainees to join them... to join those monsters!
    Tathlin: I will kill you, here and now.
    «You»: I don't need to kill you, Tathlin. Only survive for a time. Help should be arriving soon.
    Tathlin: You won't live long enough to be rescued by those murderous scum!

    «You»: You can't win, Tathlin.
    Tathlin: Your vile allies won't save you! If I must, I'll kill all of you myself!

    Demon Lord Urgoth: Much as I hate to admit it, human, we shouldn't stay long. Reinforcements will come.
    «You»: Then I shall leave for Stormfallen. Please keep Tathlin from following me.
    Tathlin: «You», please...
    «You»: Goodbye, Tathlin.
    Tathlin: ...

    «The scene fades to black. As you head to Stormfallen though, Tathlin's fellow knights are hot on your tail!»

    «Scene: Near Stormfallen's Fortress. Tyranna enters the scene with a few of her guards.»

    Tyranna: So this is the human who has abandoned the knights of Rennd to join my forces?
      «If you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy out of Urgoth's hands, or if you had chosen to keep the Eye of the Unholy for yourself previously...»

      «You»: On one condition, of course. I get to keep the Eye.
      Tyranna: ...are you daring to make demands of me, «You»?
      Tyranna: I had no intention of taking it from you, foolish human. But such disrespect to your queen...
      «You»: Of course... please forgive me, my Queen.
      Tyranna: I think not. You need a lesson in manners and humility.
      Demon Knight: My Queen! Please allow me the honor of disciplining this human!
      Tyranna: Very well.

      1 BATTLE: Demon Knight

      Tyranna: ...interesting. You have more potential than I thought.
      Tyranna: But if you dare show such disrespect again, human, I will kill you myself.
      «You»: Understood, my Queen.
      «If you had chosen to give the Eye of the Unholy to Urgoth previously...»

      Tyranna: I am pleased to meet the human who aided us in recovering the Eye of the Unholy.
      Tyranna: If you continue to show such... initiative, you will have a great place in my army.
      Tyranna: However, it seems Urgoth will not be returning. Tathlin proved too much for him.
      Tyranna: My knights were able to recover the Eye. Since you found it first, it seems fitting to let you keep it.
      Tyranna: Now then, let us resume your training where the pathetic humans left off.
      «You»: Of course. I am at your command... my Queen.
    Congratulations! You are now a Level 6 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

    Tyranna: Welcome, «You»! Prove to me that you deserve the power that comes with being a Demon Knight!

    «A new option - Join Another Order! - is unlocked for you, and can be accessed from the Knight Class menu from this point on. You will now train as not just any ordinary Knight, but a Demon Knight. The Demon Knight Class shop is open as well, containing the Demon Knight Armour, and Tyranna says "May this equipment make you stronger in my service" as you leave the shop.»

    Tyranna: I am pleased that you have seen reason and joined with my forces.
    Tyranna: But other humans have done so, before... and they were too weak. Broken by my training.
    Tyranna: Let us see if you will be different. Can you master the Salamander Cavalry, or will you be salamander chow?

    Tyranna: Excellent! You'll want to go get fitted for your new armor, and trade in your training gear.

    «You equip the Demon Knight Armour and meet Tyranna on the practice fields.»

    «You»: You wished to see me, my Queen?
    Tyranna: Indeed... I am aware that you have been trained by the human knight Tathlin.
    Tyranna: Be prepared to relearn much of it. We use some similar techniques to them, but we do not deny magic as he does.
    Tyranna: We embrace the demonic power we have been gifted with. And we have made it a part of how we fight.
    Tyranna: And our training reflects this nature. It is intended for demons who can withstand pain and suffering, not humans.
    «You»: I am not as weak as some of the others you may have met, my Queen.
    Tyranna: Perhaps not, but we will see. In any case, your first goal will be to learn the ways of cavalry.
    Tyranna: Rennd's knights are fierce on horseback, but our salamanders are much more dangerous.
    Tyranna: This is because our knights are sent out into the fiery lands to find their own mount and force it to submit to their will.
    Tyranna: We call it Salamander Hunt. Only a handful of humans have been able to accomplish this task.
    Tyranna: Go now, and find yourself a mount. If you are able to return, perhaps you may yet earn your place in my army.
    «You»: Yes, my Queen!

      Tyranna: But will you be able to match the skill of our riders?

      Tyranna: But you will need to demonstrate much more skill before I will consider you for any leadership role in my army.
      Tyranna: Let us see if you can master our recovery techniques. Can you learn the Soul Drinker?

      Tyranna: Excellent! I hope you remembered to bring your Demon Knight armor. You won't be allowed to train in anything else.

      Tyranna: It seems your departure has enraged your former mentor.
      «You»: Oh? What has he done?
      Tyranna: Tathlin is gathering his forces as we speak. He no doubt intends to start an offensive to come after you.
      Tyranna: You are one of a very few of his pupils whom he has trusted so deeply, so your betrayal must have stung him.
      Tyranna: Perhaps now he knows what it feels like...
      «You»: Pardon, my Queen?
      Tyranna: Never mind. If indeed he comes after you, you will need to be ready and able to stand against many knights.
      Tyranna: This is an appropriate time to learn the Soul Drinker technique.
      Tyranna: We use our innate magical talents to draw from the spirits of others, leeching health from them to sustain ourselves.
      Tyranna: This method is perhaps not as effective as the healing methods of other knights, but it offers an offensive advantage that they can't match.
      Tyranna: I'll have you face off against some of our prisoners from previous offensives. They make for good practice against the real thing.

      Tyranna: This prisoner is particularly stubborn and doesn't go down easily. He has bested some of my weaker kin through sheer endurance.
      Tyranna: Naturally, this has convinced the prisoners that they are not entirely beaten. We must remove that hope from them.
      Tyranna: If you can last twenty turns or defeat him, you will incite renewed fear in the hearts of the other prisoners!

      «You receive a Full Heal and proceed with the battle.»

      Tyranna: It seems I was correct. Tathlin is leading a charge of knights to attack Stormfallen.
      Tyranna: We shall use this to our advantage, and teach you a new skill in the process: the Fiery Arrow Barrage!
      Tyranna: This is your chance to prove your loyalty to me, and to earn yourself a strong role in my army. Are you prepared?

      Tyranna: Excellent! I hope you remembered to bring your Demon Knight armor. You won't be allowed to train in anything else.

      Tyranna: Ah, the "hero" of Rennd has graced us with his presence. Unfortunately, it seems your army is quite decimated.
      Tyranna: I will give you an opportunity to flee for your life.
      Tathlin: Flee from you, Demon Queen? NEVER. «You», now is your chance to redeem yourself.
      Tathlin: Help me defeat her!
      «You»: You dare to raise arms against my Queen?
      Tathlin: «You», please... surely her vile magic cannot still hold your mind in its vicegrip.
      Tyranna: How insulting. If anyone can be accused of slander and brainwashing, it is your overzealous legions!
      Tyranna: «You»! Now is the time to show me your loyalty. If you can defeat Tathlin, I will grant you status as a Demon Lord.
      Tathlin: I refuse to believe that my loyal friend was so easily swayed by promises of power!

      Who will you battle?

        «You are banished from Stormfallen and return to Battleon. You are stripped of all your Demon Knight levels, and automatically join the ranks of the Pria Knights of Rennd for your betrayal towards Tyranna.»

      Tyranna: Congratulations are in order, my newest Demon Lord. But Tathlin will be back for you.
      Tyranna: To prepare you for the inevitable conflict, you must complete the final trial that all Demon Lords must perform.
      Tyranna: You will venture into the dungeons deep beneath Stormfallen to meet the Flame of Truth, and to train with the Demon Lords of old!

      Tyranna: Excellent! You'll want to go get fitted for your new armor, and trade in your training gear.

      «You equip the Demon Knight Armour and meet Tyranna in the dungeon beneath Stormfallen.»

      Tyranna: The Flame of Truth has proven a very useful asset in our arsenal. It serves as an unbiased record keeper.
      Tyranna: And it alone knows the location of the Ancient Demon Lords, which I have sealed outside of time and space to serve as eternal trainers for my Demon Lords.
      Tyranna: However, it will see fit to test you before you can train with the Ancient Demon Lords. If you cannot stand up to the flames of truth, your body will be unable to carry the demonic flame.
      «You»: I am ready, my Queen.
      Tyranna: Then I shall leave you to it...

      «Tyranna leaves the scene. From the ground rises an orange flame that swiftly turns purple with a red core.»

      Flame of Truth: A human? It has been a long time since a human has stood in these halls.
      Flame of Truth: You no doubt seek to be tested so that you may inherit the powers of the Demon Lords.
      Flame of Truth: This rite is normally designed for demons, however. Human bodies do not tend to survive well against such flames...
      «You»: I can handle it.
      Flame of Truth: Others have said so before. You will also need to face some uncomfortable truths about your kind.
      «You»: I have abandoned them for your side, so I do not care what you reveal.
      Flame of Truth: Yet you already are in error. I have no side. I do not serve the Demon Queen. I only reveal the truth...
      Flame of Truth: ...and allow those who witness it to decide for themselves what to do with this knowledge.
      Flame of Truth: I exist only to record history, for better or worse, for all of time. It is a terrible and tragic truth, but it is one that must be told.
      «You»: Then tell me. I am ready.
      Flame of Truth: We shall see.

      «A red hemisphere engulfs you as red beams emit around where you stand, and visions start appearing in front of you...»

      The demons of Stormfallen first emerged in Lore hundreds of years ago. They were cast out from Heck by their own kind, rejected for their belief in the ability for humans and demons to co-exist.

      Tyranna herself was considered proof of this, for she was born of demon and human alike, co-existing perfectly well. This truth did not sit well with the demons of Heck, thus why they were banished under charge of heresy.

      When Tyranna arrived on Lore, she was first discovered by the knights of Rennd. She attempted to open up diplomacy with them, seeking to prove to her kin that humans could be trusted.

      Flame of Truth

      «You»: No! I can handle it. Continue.
      Flame of Truth: As you wish....

      And so she met with the knights in a grand council, telling them her tale and asking for their aid in establishing a home for her kind. But... the humans would have none of it.

      The Paladin Order believed her to be the leader of an invasion force from Heck, and considered her very existence to be the result of pure sin. Her appeal was rejected... nay, never given a chance.

      Her kind was hunted like vermin, driven to the far west... driven into hiding. And as they hid, Tyranna's demonic nature began to influence her more and more.

      Tyranna grew to hate humanity for rejecting her offers of friendship, and began to understand why demons did not trust humans. And on that day, she vowed justice.

      She forged Stormfallen and led a demonic onslaught, conquering most of the West and decimating it, turning forests to ashes and many kingdoms to rubble.

      Of the great powers in the Western Expanse, only Rennd remains. The rest are minor kingdoms of little interest, or have become protectorates under her rule.

      That is why the humans rarely venture to the West these days... they know what lies in wait: the demons of Stormfallen!

      Flame of Truth: Survived, did you?
      «You»: No problem.
      Flame of Truth: Good. The flames of truth have not burnt you to a crisp. Your body may indeed be capable of surviving the demonic flames.
      Flame of Truth: Very well then. You are ready to visit the Ancient Demon Lords and fight to obtain their power.

      «Another red hemisphere surrounds you. This time, you are transported to another dimension to confront an Ancient Demon Lord.»

      Ancient Demon Lord: I see that another has been sent. And a human, no less... surely my Queen has not grown desperate enough to count on human aid?
      «You»: Where am I?
      Ancient Demon Lord: We, the oldest of Demon Lords, wield the power of ancient demons and can imbue that power inside of others.
      Ancient Demon Lord: However, our kind are the only ones capable of passing this great power on, and we were growing old and dying off.
      Ancient Demon Lord: So my Queen sealed me off in a dimension outside of time and space, that I might never grow old and die.
      Ancient Demon Lord: This allows me to grant the power of demonic flame to all of her future Demon Lords, for all of time.
      «You»: Doesn't it bother you that you're sealed away like this?
      Ancient Demon Lord: Hardly. It is an honor to serve my Queen in any way I can. And it grants me total immunity from death.
      Ancient Demon Lord: I must ask you... how does my Queen fare? Has her kingdom grown? Are the humans paying for their crimes?
      «You»: The Queen's domain stretches across the West. The humans have united against her, but they are fighting a losing war.
      Ancient Demon Lord: That is good to hear... and once I have trained you to wield the demonic flame, you can aid her.
      Ancient Demon Lord: Before we start, however... will you truly serve my Queen forever, even against your own kind?
      «You»: I will serve her in life until I draw my last breath, and even then I will serve her in death.
      Ancient Demon Lord: Then face me in battle, young warrior. If you can survive against my power, then perhaps your body can absorb the demonic flame and wield it as your own!
        1 BATTLE: Ancient Demon Lord
      Demonic Flame
      Have you gained the power of the demonic flame for your own?

      «If you fail the roll, you receive a Full Heal and the following dialogue.»
      Ancient Demon Lord: You have not embraced the demonic flame. Do you submit, then?
      «You»: I can't submit! To submit is to fail my Queen!
      Ancient Demon Lord: Then come at me again, if you dare!

      «Repeat battle above, and stat roll with -5 difficulty per time of failure.»

      «If you succeed the roll, you temporarily acquire the Rite of Flames skill.»
      «You»: By fire I am purged! I feel the flames boiling in my very body!
      Ancient Demon Lord: Now return to your time, and safe-guard our Queen with your very life.

      «You receive a Full Heal. As you return back to the dungeon, the Flame of Truth extinguishes itself and Tyranna re-enters the scene.»

      Tyranna: I see you still live. That means you have been exposed to the truth, then....
      Tyranna: Knowing these things, would you still serve me?
      «You»: Without question, my Queen. What we did to you is horrible. They should be made to suffer.
      «You»: But I urge you, my Queen. Do not give up on humanity entirely. Not all of us are so heartless.
      Tyranna: Perhaps, when this is all over, I can learn to embrace my human aspects once more... but...
      Tyranna: Until that day, my humanity is but an anchor, weighing me down from exacting revenge on those who attempted to murder me and my kin.
      Tyranna: When that is done, I expect that you will be at my side to help encourage the co-existence of our kind and yours.
      «You»: Of course, my Queen.
      Tyranna: Good. Now then... we must ensure that you are ready for the battles to come. Demonstrate your new power to me!
        1 BATTLE: Tyranna

      Tyranna: You are ready. When Tathlin next seeks to face you in battle, you will be able to crush him.

      Congratulations! You are now a Level 10 Knight, and have learned a new skill as a result of your training!

      Tyranna: I count you among my strongest knights. I have no more to teach you at this time. However, I have another task which I command you to perform.
      Tyranna: I have sent a message to the other kingdoms asking to host a tournament, with the best knight each kingdom can offer.
      Tyranna: The winner may decide the terms to end the war. Of course, Tathlin has entered in the hopes of facing you.
      Tyranna: We shouldn't keep him, or the other contestants waiting. Kill them all, and we can force unconditional surrender in this war!
    • Yes, my Queen.
    • I ask only for more time to prepare myself.

      Tyranna: Good. You have my full support, Knight, as well as some you may not expect. Fight with all of your skill and end this war with victory to Stormfallen!
    • To victory!

      You must compete against champions from each of the rival kingdoms! If you can beat them at their best, your kingdom will earn the right to dictate the terms for the end of the war! Don't forget to use your class armor! You must wear your kingdom's colors in battle!

      Tathlin: That much we can agree on. Justice will come to you one day, and when it does, I only hope that I can be there to see it.

      «Tathlin leaves the scene.»

      «You»: (thinking) *sigh* Tathlin.... if only you knew what you predecessors have done, perhaps then you might understand.

      «Tathlin, Cerin, Herous, Tyranna and Eir gather in the arena.»

      Tyranna: Congratulations, «You». You have won the tournament.
      Tyranna: Your kingdom may choose the terms of the war's conclusion.
      «You»: The war shall end now. The human kingdoms shall surrender unconditionally to the demons.
      «You»: And in exchange, our armies shall refrain from decimating the rest of Lore.
      Demon Lord Eir: What a load of nonsense! I knew we couldn't trust a human to make the right decision....
      Tyranna: Silence!
      Demon Lord Eir: ....my Queen?
      Tyranna: His request is my own. Stormfallen is ending the war, and I am disbanding your Crimson Legion, effective immediately.
      Demon Lord Eir: But... my Queen! I have been loyal to you....
      Tyranna: Do you think I was not aware of your experimentation with corruption magic? Or your refusal to grant safe harbor for civilians?
      Tyranna: You are hereby stripped of your title, and your legion is disbanded.
      Demon Lord Eir: I... I will not obey those orders! You are a weak queen, taking orders from a human! I shall....

      «Tyranna swiftly spins around and stabs Eir with her bare hands, immediately killing him in the process.»

      Tyranna: You shall do nothing, worm.
      General Herous: There is no way that we're going to surrender unconditionally to you while you are at your weakest!
      Tathlin: Indeed! I have not yet achieved justice for my kingdom!
      Tyranna: Not willing to hold to our agreement, then? Cerin, what do you have to say about this?
      Cerin: In the name of King Tralin of Deren, I hereby arrest you, Sir Tathlin of Rennd and General Herous of Granemor.
      «You»: ....now this is a surprise. Deren is betraying its allies?
      General Herous: Arresting us? On what charges?
      Cerin: Your armies have been falsely perpetuating the war against Stormfallen. We have examined historical records and found that they have been falsified.
      Tathlin: What a slanderous lie!
      Cerin: Ah, but it is not. My king is certain enough of it that he is pulling his support from the war, effective immediately.
      Cerin: Any further attacks against Stormfallen will be treated as an act of war against Deren, with the appropriate reaction.
      Tathlin: We will never give up! We will take some time to prepare, but we shall return stronger than ever!
      General Herous: And my 'Emoran Knights will join in the battle!
      Tyranna: Do not be so bold, humans. I have many other legions besides the Crimson Legion.
      Tyranna: When you do choose to restart the war, you will be made to regret it a thousand times over!

      It seems that the endless war in the Western Expanse has ceased for now... but it is a very uneasy peace. Even now, the four kingdoms are rebuilding, gathering their strength for when the war begins anew. And when it does, all of Lore might be engulfed in the chaos that follows! Knowing this, you depart for other adventures... but you must remain ever-vigilant, for no one knows when the peace shall be broken....
