Hello my name is linkman88 and every week or so i will post a new tip on photoshop or a helpful feature.

4/29/08- Easy Sillohettes

  • Tools
  • Ps/gimp
  • a render
first take your render and place it where you want it.
Second make a new layer above your render and fill it with any color you want.
Now take your new layer that is filled with the color you selected and turn the layer into a clipping mask.
Next you hide/delete the the bottom layer that should be white.
finally you make a new layer and go to image>apply image
Now you have a nice sillohette

An easier way is to ctrl-click the layer and fill it with black.

An even easier way is to keep the render in it's outer selected form, and then paint it black with a big brush. But anyhow, I'l be looking forward to these.

6/7/08- Easy Rendering
Today you need
a stock image with a person
PS/Gimp

First you make a new document
then place your stock on it
now make a new layer
next take out a brush
now on the new layer completly cover up your person or focal point
so you can't see it at all.
now drag your layer that you just drew on and move it behind your stock
finally select your stock layer right click and set it as a clipping mask
now you have a nice render and move your stock around if you didn't get the paart you want on the
clipping mask
RESULT:

Why not just take a render and Color Overlay it?
Anyway, nice tip

Good tutorials. It's a quick and easy guide, and it's good. Of course, if it were to be done professionally, then i'm sure pentooling would be needed. But the results are good, and the feather can be good for blending.

Well, anyways, a very nice tutorial. Except for the first one, in GIMP you could just Alpha To Select and then color it in black with a brush.

for the latest tip--in PS, you can just use the background eraser tool and go around him. it works out quite nicely for me.

and for the silhouette thing, paste the render into your tag, or just the render file open by itself, and double click on the layer it's on. the layer effects window should come up, and just check color overlay. then click on it (color overlay), and change the color it's on to black, for a nice black silhouette.

don't use image tags. put images in link form. If you continue to make a new tip every week with an example image with an image tag, it's gonna take up a whole lotta bandwidth
