Prologue.

In the time before Creation there was only void. Void different from what we know, where there was nothing and yet the makings of our world and all beyond. From the empty came the all, and thus was born our beauteous realm of Law and the ever-changing realm of Chaos. At the heart of these realms lay our Fathers, Akala and Inkhaos. The two saw each other, and were disgusted; they waged war. The Nine Orders of Law were created to be Akala's soldiers, and they fought proudly for him. For Inkhaos came the 27 Unknowables of Chaos, embodiments of what Chaos truely is. The war would go on for ages unknown, ravaging both sides. Some may consider this war between gods to be a reckoning, but in truth it was a blessing. The form of Chaos shaped by the mind of Law formed the first of the Equalities. The Equalities spread, and so the Elements and their children were born. Finally a middle ground, realms blessed by the gifts of Akala and Inkhaos. Seperated by the Realms of Equality, Law and Chaos could look in instead of out, and begin the holy work of growing their own realms, instead of destroying each other's. And at last, all was as we know it.

-The First Etchings, written by the Lumerium of the Fifth Order of Law

It was dark in the cavern, the only light coming from the few torches left burning on the surrounding walls. In the center, two men clad in armor made preparations for a summoning ritual of sorts. It was not easy to aqcuire the reagents needed for the spell, especially as they weren't to leave the cave so long as their charge remained within the tree in the back. The two men were prepared to stay in that dark and damp cave for the rest of their lives; unfortunately for them, their prisoner found the key to its freedom long ago, and they were it.

"Careful with the chaos orbs, they weren't exactly easy to aqcuire and we need every single one." The Dragonlord had just finished carving a set of complex patterns into the ground. He was now filling the engravings with silver dust, all difficult to get.

"Yes I am quite aware of how difficult it was to get these; plus, I'd rather not risk accidentally summoning some monstrocity from Chaos." This one was a Guardian. Ironic that he'd fail in guarding the only thing he'd ever have too. He layed down the last of the chaos orbs, all of them strategically placed in a circle around the patterns. He pulled out a final sphere, it had the appearence of solid platinum with a metallic shine. Unlike all the others, this was an orb of Law. The Guardian placed it in the center of the circle; it was time.

"Are you ready?"

The Guardian was nervous, the being he was about to summon was a creature of incredible power in its own realm. "Yes, let us not keep the master waiting." The two began to concentrate. One had begun channeling mana into the patterns while the other sent his into the Law orb. The orb shined bright and was soon emitting a silvery light that could challenge the Sun. The two covered their eyes until the light faded away, and where there was an orb was now a strange humanoid being standing in front of them. It looked as though it was covered in platinum armor, with skin made of a cyan light. But most striking of all were the two huge wings on its back. The being looked around, feeling confused yet still quite calm. It's surroundings begin to shift around it, changing the area into a more organized state. The two men couldn't let the lawful corruption spread further, they were to ready engage the being until it spoke.

"You two, what is this place?" It spoke with the calm sterness expected of a soldier. "I am an Etherium of the Sixth Order of Law, and this would not appear to be the realm of Law. What realm is this and how did you summon me?" The men quickly started channeling their mana into the 13 orbs surrounding the being and directed the orbs' stored energies at it. The Etherium prepared to strike before it was hit, it then began yelling in an agony it never knew before. Its form began too shift; its platinum skin cracked and twisted itself, while its inner light began to die down. Its wings contorted into the shape of dragon's rather than a bird's, and finally it fell unconscience.

While one man went to prepare the being for some untold purpose, the other went to the tree in the back of the cave. Its bark was petrified and its leaves were long gone. The dragonlord rested his head upon it, closing his eyes. An event of a huge magnitude was about to go down, and Lore would not be the same after.

"Soon my master... soon... You'll be free, and this world will finally undergo the transformation it so desperately needs." He backed away from the tree, and went to help his comrade.

End of Prologue.

Act 1: Awakening

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 1.

The Sun shined high on Falconreach as its people went about their usual business. Everyday heroes walked through its streets, ready for the next great adventure. Today a newcomer was looking for one such hero. The young man looked at the town in wonder, as if he had never seen the buildings or greenery before. He wore platinum armor, which for the most part was hidden under an azure cape. He sorely regretted wearing such heavy clothing; the summer Sun beat down on him relentlessly. He wasn't familiar with weather like this; then again, there was a lot in this place he wasn't fimiliar with. Unfortunately, there was no time left to waste on sight-seeing, he was on a mission and he was going to get it done. First though, he needed a guide.

"Hello people of Falconreach! I, Jareth, am in need of an excellent tracker! This is for a mission of great importance!" Not many paid attention to Jareth. He scratched at the fuzz on his chin; it was much easier to gain assistance where he came from. "Ummm, I require assistance?" Nearby, another young man was preparing to go on his daily trip into the woods to hunt the local game and maybe a monster or two. He loaded his arrows onto his back and grabbed his crossbow, ready to take on whatever creatures lurked deep into the forests. He overheard Jareth, who was at this becoming a little desperate. "I have gold!" Jareth called out, and with that, the hunter became interested.

"A tracker is what you need?" The hunter walked over to Jareth. A big grin formed on the newcomer's face.

"Yes! I am on an important mission to track down someone who has gone missing! I'm afraid I am not familiar enough with the area to do it myself. I can pay you if you help me!"

"Well, I'm not the best, but I know the forests like the back of my hand and I can find a panther with my eyes closed." The hunter jokingly pulled out his crossbow and aimed it at Jareth. It wasn't loaded but he still took a step back.

"Uhhh, yes, very good."

"May I ask how much you're paying here?"

"Oh, of course!" Jareth pulled out the bag from under his cape. It wasn't a fortune, but it would certainly get him the new pair of boots he had been in dire need of.

"Hmmm, how difficult do you this will be?" Jareth merely shrugged. The hunter thought it was better than nothing and took the bag. "When would you like to head out?"

"Right now would be best! As I said, this is very important."

"All righty then," and with that, the two headed off to the forests. There the hunter felt most at home. "Here we are! We can begin searching here. Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself, I'm Talo Temis, and what would your name be?"

"Jareth."

"Jareth... what?"

"Just Jareth."

"Ok then..." Talo couldn't help but feel there was something strange about his employer, but who was he to question a man who was paying him? The two spent some time in the forest, it would become dark soon. Talo sighed, he didn't the have the neccessary supplies to start a camp and if they didn't leave soon, they might run into some of the more brutal beasts that lived in the dark forests. "Look, I think we're going to have to hold this off until tomorrow. We have to head back to Falconreach now or things might get unpleasent."

Jareth looked dissappointed and a little bit worried. "If we must... I only fear what might happen if we don't find him soon."

"Who is it exactly that we're looking for?"

"A comrade of mine, Galeth. He has gone missing, and the implications of his dissappearance are quite concerning."

"Are you sure he didn't just get lost?"

"Definitely, one would have to take quite the wrong turn to end up on a completely different realm..."

"Wait, what?" Talo officially had no idea what Jareth was talking about. "I don't want to be rude here, but you're really not like anyone I've ever met before... Are you a foreigner or something?"

"Well, I suppose you can call me that. Oh, how forgetful of me, I forgot to tell you that this is my first time visiting Lore. Well actually... this is my first time visiting your realm!"

"Wait, WHAT!?"

Chapter 2.

"I apologize; I usually make a better job of introducing myself and my rank but I haven't quite adjusted to this... body. Here, let me do it right this time." He turned around and looked at Talo straight in the eye before bowing down. "I am Jareth, an Etherium of the Sixth Order of the Realm of Law. I am here looking for a fellow Etherium and I can't do it alone!" Talo just stared blankly at Jareth, not totally sure what to make of the situation.

"An Etherium? The Realm of Law? So yeah, you're definitely crazy." Talo turned around and began walking back to Falconreach.

"What? I am telling the truth! Wait! Don't go!" Jareth ran back, up to Talo and grabbed his soldier. "I really need your help! I can't do this alone!"

"Then how about you explain me to what in all of Lore is an Etherium or how there's a Realm of Law?"

"Etherium is what I am! Well, not at this moment... I've had to take on a human form to prevent my presence from corrupting your realm; the Lawful energies which I'm normally made of would spread and alter quite a large radius around me. I am actually quite afraid this might be happening to wherever my comrade is; I don't think he underwent the same transformation I did."

"And this Realm of Law? Is that where you're from?"

"Yes! Things work very different there. I'm not surprised you've never heard of Law, we don't like to interfere with your realm; it is filled with too much... chaos."

"What do you mean? It's not like the streets are filled with anarchy."

"Believe me when I say that compared to Law, even the waves of an ocean are considered chaos. Any change or inconsistency is chaos. There is chaos in Law, but so little that the realm hasn't changed much since the ending of the Fathers' War."

"What's the Father's War? Sounds big."

"Oh it is, but I will explain to you another time." Jareth looked toward the horizon and looked towards the sunset. A look of wonder appeared on his face. "Amazing, Lore is certainly a very different world."

"No sunsets in Law? Wow, must be there boring there!"

"I wouldn't say boring, just very... calm." He sighed and rubbed his head. "There isn't just very little change but emotions are also much less intense. I can't tell you how odd it is to have your emotions feel so strong... On Law, anger is but a little spark; here though, it is like a huge flame. I almost lost control of myself earlier today when I was looking for help. This body... this mind... It is all so strange and new."

"Well, I'm sure you'll get used to it. Oh look, we're back!" The two entered Falconreach and went towards the Inn. Once there, Talo greeted Serenity before using the money Jareth had given him earlier to procure the two there own rooms for the night. "We'll continue tomorrow, but for now we rest."

"I'd like that, I feel exhausted. I'm not sure if I like feeling exhausted..." Jareth stomach made an audible sound, which only confused the Lawful. "I apologize, I'm not sure what that is..."

"You're hungry. Do you seriously not eat in Law?" Jareth only shrugged. Talo brought him too the dining hall, where Jareth discovered the joy of eating for the first time.

"This is amazing! What do you call this?"

"Chicken?"

"Chicken is great!" After the overly-enthusiastic meal, Talo brought Jareth up to his room and showed him to use a bed. When asked on how he take off one's clothes or how to use the bathroom, Talo merely wrote Jareth a list of instructions. "Why is this necessary?"

"Eh just trust me... Now I'll see you tomorrow morning and we'll figure out what to do from there."

"Planning, good, I like planning!"

"Yeah. If you need me, I'm at the room right next to here."

"Hopefully that won't be necessary. Good night friend."

"Good night." With that, Talo closed the door and entered his own room before collapsing on his own bed.
