The Rules of the DragonFable General Discussion Forum All Universal Forum Rules relating to posting behavior apply! These should be the first thing you read when you join the forums. They apply everywhere; this means that any behavior prohibited by the Universal Rules is prohibited in this forum. This means no flaming, no trolling, no spamming your signature or emoticons, and no mentioning hacking. Period. The Universal Rules is the document by which the forum is governed; anything found there but not specifically listed in the rules set out below still applies. As always, the AE moderating team and the ArchKnights have the final say in all matters of forum policy. Use Your Resources The AE forums are designed to have a place for everything. This is a discussion forum, which means that any equipment comparisons, battle strategies or questions, be they about the game or the forums, do not belong in this board. Please see the Forum-Specific Rules & Complete Forum Index for further information. Some DF links for reference: Duplicate Topics If you have a topic in mind, please search the forum to see if someone had it first. If there is already a thread about your topic, please read it first to see if it covers your discussion. Posting a new thread about a topic already being discussed creates spam and only decreases the quality of discussion in each thread. Spoilers It is important that everyone be allowed to enjoy the games and the thrill of discovery. In recognition of this fact, please make considerable and appropriate use of spoiler tags. [spoiler]Text to hide[/spoiler] Please use spoiler tags for any content that may spoil the game for other people, and recognize that the use of such is absolutely mandatory for recent game content. No Game Account Issues If there is something wrong with your game account, please use the help pages provided on each game's website: http://dragonfable.com/help/ . No one on the forums can help you with any game account issues, so please do not post about them here. Spam Do not post in a thread unless you have something to add to the discussion at hand (put some effort into your replies to a topic rather than posting short 1 or 2 word response, it is a general discussion forum). Do not post off-topic chatter (this includes questions or comments attempting to change the topic of a thread discussion/"thread hijacking"). Do not make rating threads, polls, petitions or surveys of member opinion. Do not bump dead topics/"necro-bump" (if it's been over 14 days since a thread has been posted in, it is finished/dead). Do not use image tags or attach images to your post (instead post links to your screenshot(s) using photo hosting sites such as imgur ). Please make your post simple and easy to read by avoiding things like oversized font, unnecessary colors or all caps. The DF GD moderating team reserves the right to remove any content deemed inappropriate or poorly formatted in order to keep the forum clean. Mini-Modding The DF GD AKs and Moderators are responsible for keeping the forum clean and running smoothly; please let them do their jobs. Do not instruct other users on proper behavior - if you want to help, please PM a DFGD AK or any Moderator with a quote and link to the problem post and they will deal with it accordingly. For more information see the Key Definitions and Other Notes thread. On Official War Threads: War threads are not to debate what is strong or weak, good or evil. They are for people to discuss the war, rally together and encourage each other while battling war waves. That is the ONLY thing they are for. You can discuss war strategy for current and past wars in DF but do not argue the merits of real life wars or any wars, discussions of those particular topics will be considered spam. Mild role-playing is allowed in official war threads (such RPing isn't permitted anywhere else in DFGD) but it does not give license to troll, flame or break any other rules. If you'd like to roleplay, please visit our Role Playing forum, read the specific rules and enjoy the action! Short poems/songs/war cries (with a maximum length of 7 lines) are welcome in war threads (and nowhere else in DFGD). Do not only post your poetry, songs, short stories and war cries - participate in the discussion as well, within the same post. Longer written works about a war belong in L&L Forum's "War Stories and Poetry" thread, although you may provide a link to your literature within your post. Same goes for links to songs you listen to while fighting war waves. If you want to link any youtube videos for other players to listen to while warring, it must be able to meet the AE Forum requirements which is PG. This includes the content of the video along with any comments of other listeners. To do this, simply use quietube. Here's how: Link " http://quietube7.com/v.php/ " before the URL of the video you want to link. This may seem like a lot of guidelines but remember, forumers have a right to use war threads for what they're intended, discussing the war and its progress. Therefore, some limitations are required to ensure the thread isn't overrun with other content. Please do discuss the war in fun, clever and creative ways. We all love it when you do! Just be mindful of everyone in the thread. Thank you for your understanding. On Suggestions: Do not make suggestion threads in DFGD. Only DF Game Staff or Forum Staff are allowed to make suggestion threads in the forum. We know you have cool and creative ideas on what to add to the game of DF and we want to hear them in a structured way. So, whenever they wish, DF Game Staff (and occasionally Forum Staff) will make official suggestion threads or suggestion contest threads where you can post detailed ideas for a specific item/quest/monster/NPC to add to the game. These official threads will be for posting suggestions/contest entries only. The DF Game Staff and Forum Staff may make an official suggestion/contest discussion thread, along with the contest/suggestion thread, as a place for forumers to discuss the thread entries and get feedback on ways to improve their suggestion/entry. However, there may be times when Staff choose not to do so and Non-Staff Forum members are not allowed to start these discussion thread topics. On Basic Courtesy: The forums are made up of a very diverse cross-section of the global community. Accordingly, we ask you to remember that not everyone speaks English as a primary language. That not everyone has the same education. That not everyone is of the same race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religion. Treat each other with kindness, respect and tolerance. This is not a request. A concise guide on Proper Forum Etiquette can be found by clicking here. To follow up on the topic of common courtesy, we've also included an informative guide on how and when to use constructive criticism: quote:
Constructive Criticism What is it? Constructive criticism is being able to process and offer your own thoughts and opinions in order to give courteous and friendly feedback. This is done by explaining what you like and dislike, while at the same time providing feedback that is useful. This is what separates constructive feedback from ranting/complaining and flaming. Does it help? How? Yes! Constructive criticism helps because not only are you giving feedback about what you don't like about a quest/event, but you're also giving feedback about what you DID like in the quest. Feedback could include on such topics as statistics, more dialogue, more explanatory cutscenes, more fights - everything that quests or events would normally include. This gives the game staff a better idea on future improvements. Example of Constructive Criticism: "I didn't particularly like this war because it felt too empty. To have made it better, I think the staff could have had a 50% cutscene to unlock rather than just a shop to progress the storyline. As it was, I personally was a little disappointed that this war felt more rushed than previous wars, however I do understand that the staff had a lot on their plate when making this release. That said, I greatly enjoyed the boss fight, the animations and art fit perfectly with the song that was playing in the background. So while not one of the best wars DF have done, I still enjoyed it. Thank you, DF staff!" Example of Unconstructive Criticism: "I didn't like this war at all. What were the staff thinking? The items in the shop were ugly, overpriced and were bugged!! No cutscene? That was never done before and it is not how it should be done ever. Seriously, doesn't the staff ever listen to us?! The boss fight was too hard and took forever to beat :( And there was no sound. I don't think the staff even care anymore. Best war ever /sarcasm I hate this game D:<!"
