So, you ever wondered about gradient maps? Well here I'll tell you about them. Q: What is a gradient map? A: It's a supposed to be....Um....I dunno. Click the blend tool and click gradients. Then you'll have your examples. Or go to colors>maps>gradient maps. It's a way to change the color of a tag without doing it manually. Q: What does a gradient map do to a tag? A: Well usually it's used to help the color scheme. That's what it does, changes the color scheme. Q: How do I do a gradient map? A: Blend tool>Gradients or Colors>Maps>Gradient Maps. Put the gradient maps on new layers or copy visible layers. Q: So how do I make it change the color scheme? A: You make copy visible layers or new layers, then put on gradient maps. To choose different gradients click blend tool>gradients. Mess around with the opacity and layer modes. Q: Can I make my own gradients? How? A: Sure you can. First take the FG color and make it the first color for the gradient map. Then the BG color will be the second. Then it should be in the list of gradients. Okay. Here we start. The order of the layer should always be some what like this: <Border layer> <Text layer> <Gradient map layer(s)> <Render layer> <BG layer(s)> Here are some examples! Credit to Colorful of GIMPTalk for the first and Zenron the great of BattleOn forums for the second. I just stole 'em as examples. Yellow FG to orange BG (Overlay 30%) Deap Sea (15% Overlay) Incandescent (Soft light 45%) Romanian flag smooth (20% Soft light) Black FG to white BG (Normal 45%) Sunrise (Color 50%) Shadows 2 (Saturation 50%) Metalic Something (Addition 20%) Gradient maps can sometimes ruin a tag. You have to use the right ones. like in this ugly tag, I did it terribly. http Or in a tag like this: You need to make sure it looks bootyful. Those are my old tags, and I was suckish with gradient maps. Here are some of my new ones, they rawk The gradient maps made 'em bootyful. or like in this: Sometimes a gradient map can leave straight noticable lines, or has just one color that kinda ruins it. Best to erase that spot, and smudge it up at 50. Int he first bootyful tag, there was a line. I erased and smudged it and it's not there In my road kill one, I was actually banging my head trying to figure out how to get rid of that gross color. It's gone, now it looks bootyful Just used that same trick, it works.
