Along with your bug report, please list the following:

-Operating System (Windows XP, Vista, Mac, Linux, etc)
-Web Browser and version
-Flash player version
-Number of Online Players during the time you had the bug (check the AQ home page for the count)

Some things that aren't bugs:

1. XP does not carry over when you level up.
2. If you heal a sunray or a moonray up to 10x their normal HP, you get all your mana back.
3. Non-guardians cannot open the right hand chest in the WAQ.
4. The Ice katana does not freeze monsters with under 100% ice defence, or Ice elementals.
5. Non-guardians can do Joust training.
6. You cannot exchange your Long Sword for BoA if you are not a guardian.
7. If you get a weapon from a quest or monster and it doesn't involve the shop interface and its not the Blade of Awe, it is a temporary weapon and disappears if you log out.
8. a)If your wearing Martial Artist Form, samurai form or battle robe, you do melee damage even with a magic weapon.
b) Guardian Ice Dragon's breath attack is magic even with a melee weapon
c) Same goes for any other explicit conversiona armor.
9. Default armour and weapons are switched back to when you go to a shop as well.
10. Some monster attacks deduct MP, and not HP
11. Sir lanceler's head is the same as yours when you 'kill' him, even if your wearing a helmet or mask.
12. Quests (including news events and endless quests) have very different level restrictions than random adventure.
13. If you move your mouse over your face icon (or the monsters/ the map in Bludrut), hold your mouse button down and move your mouse away from your face, then let go of the mouse button, your statistics will still be showing.
14. Frozen monsters block.
15. If you are in frogzilla form you always do earth damage.
16. Draining weapons can harm you if your opponent is healed by the special.
17. The Dragon blade turns into a dwagon blade in the guardian arena.
18. The Scrambler beam spell will not allow you to freeze an ice monster (with the IK, UIK or Mogleets), even if you get their Ice defence to over 100.
19. There is a cap on potions equal too 20 + (5 x base number of potions).

Are you not seeing a recently updated area of the game, and it seems like everyone else is?

If so, try clearing you web browser temporary files cache. Here's some instructions:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/webcache.jsp

Then log out of the game or go to a different part of the game, and then go back.

If that does not work and you are still not seeing a recently updated area of the game, it means that your ISP (or school, work, or library network) is also caching (storing a copy) of the game files on their network.

When this happens, instead of loading the new game files from our game server, you get an older stored copy from your ISP or network.

ISP's usually clear out their storage on a schedule. Usually once a day, but I have heard of some that store files for a long time.

There were some players in the Philippines that had files stored for over a month!!! They never got the new versions!

We try to rename game files when we make new versions. That way you always get a new copy. But some areas of the game are hard to rename, and it takes us a while to do that.

1. Before posting a bug, use the search function to see if the bug was previously reported.

2. When reporting bugs, be clear and precise. Perfect English is not required, but it should at least be understandable. Pay attention to your spelling and grammar. Single sentences, e.g. "X weapon is not working!", does not help at all. Describe what you think was wrong. Don't use signatures.

3. If after doing an action, your character has the default head , shield , or sword , please reequip your equipment to prevent the game from freezing up. If those default images are consistently loaded after a specific action, e.g. drinking a potion, post the armor you were using and what causes it to load the default images in the armor bugs thread.

4. If you keep encountering strange errors nobody else seems to be encountering, or if the game freezes or crashes frequently:
  • First try clearing your browser cache, restart your computer and login. Click here for instructions on how to do that.
  • If that doesn't work, try entering the game using another browser.
  • If the problem persists, try turning off any ad-blocking or firewall software and relogin.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling your flash plug-in. Click here for instructions on how uninstall and here to reinstall.
  • If all of the above fails to resolve the problem, post a report in the game engine bugs thread, be as detailed as possible. Include the following information:
    • Are you able to reproduce the error? If it was just a one-time glitch, it probably is not a bug.
    • Describe the error, what happened? Did you see an error message? Did the browser window freeze? Did your whole computer freeze? Try to be precise.
    • What were you doing before and at the moment the error happened? Did you manage to do anything afterwards that made the problem go away?
    • What operating system, browser and version of Flash are you using?
    • What is your processor speed and memory, and do you have any background programs running?

System Requirements

AdventureQuest uses Flash in a web page as the game client, and most browsers support Flash.
To install the latest version of the Flash player plugin, visit : http://www.macromedia.com

Recommended System
• CPU - 1.0 Ghz or faster.
• RAM - 256 MB RAM
• Video - 32MB or higher
• Resolution - 1024x768
• Drive Space - At least 128 MB of free hard drive space (for web file caching)
• Browser - Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla FireFox 1.0
• Flash 7 - The latest version of flash
• Connection - DSL, Cable, or better.
• Cache - Your web browsers cache must be on, and it must be set to at least 32MB

These are the recommended system requirements that allow for optimal gameplay. However, the game will play on any computer that has an internet connection and Flash. Performance is mostly based on your computer's hardware CPU speed.

Minimum System
• CPU - 500 Mhz
• RAM - 128 MB RAM
• Video - 16MB
• Resolution - 640x480
• Drive Space - At least 64 MB of free hard drive space
• Browser - Any that supports Flash 7.0
• Connection - Dialup
• Cache - Your web browsers cache must be on, and it must be set to at least 32MB

How to set your browser cache:

In Internet Explorer select TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > Temporary Internet files > Settings
Then move the slider bar to more than 32 MB. A good setting is between 64 and 128 MB.

In FireFox, select TOOLS > OPTIONS > PRIVACY > Cache
Enter in 64000

Too large of a cache, will slow down your browser, because it spends too much time looking for cached files on your hard drive.
Too small of a cache, is really bad, because your browser will re-download files too often.

Tips for better performance

#1 Adjust the quality settings
While in game, set the Flash image quality to "low" by clicking the Options tab, and the Graphics quality link.

#2 Close all other active internet connections.
These include instant messaging programs like AIM, or MSN messanger, Yahoo Messanger, etc..
Close Kazaa or any other file sharing services.

#3 Upgrade when asked.
Always upgrade to the newest version of Flash. Macromedia is constantly improving its flash plug-in to be more powerful so check for updates.

Tips for Preventing and Reporting Bugs

* Blue screens when saving, stuck battle loading screens, monsters failing to attack back, and Weapon special freeze ups all have totally different causes, and its important to keep track what's happening when the game messes up.

* Make sure you're not using any "third party software" that would prevent loading data from the game server. Spyware can mess with the information loaded from the server, like replace important data with links to shopping sites!
Some anti-spam, anti-virus, or Parent Control software might also block data. Experiment to see if one of these programs is conflicting with the game.

* If you are using any computer tools that mess with your system clock, or speed up flash, then the game will be very likely to mess up.

* Do not report a bug if you are using a cheat program, macro, speed hack, or anything else besides the normal method of playing the game.

* There are still several Armors in the game that are buggy. If you switch armors, and then immediately click the Attack button, and your weapon decides to do its special, the game might freeze up. So, be patient, and wait a bit after switching armors, especially if you have not used that armor that day.

* The game will do a BSOD if the game server is running too slow to respond in time. The server is currently handling about 10 monster loads and 10 battles saves *every* second. It can get backlogged and sometimes give up on the load or save.

* The BSOD's probably seem worse now that we have so many quests that require defeating several monsters in a row in order to level up an armor. Back when most people spent most of the time doing random encounters, no one complained about the occasional BSOD.

* If the blue scrolls occur very often or almost every time for a player, than something serious is going wrong. The character data may be corrupt.
But most likely the problem is a bad or periodically bad connection to the game server.

Banned!

Hello, I have made this guide because I am seeing too many thread talking about "Blue Scroll of Doom" and i do not want you to receive a number fiuve warning from Vephoma. Anyways, this guide may or may not teach you more about Blue Sroll of Dooms and what they are about. Note: This was originally in Guides forums but I guess tis would be the best place to post here.

Blue Scroll of Doom

-Is there an abbreviation for Blue Scroll of Doom?
Yes, they are also called, "BSoD" for short.

-Is there also another name for Blue Scroll of Doom?
Yes, as Artix likes to call them, "Blue Scrolls of Death".

-What does a Blue Scroll of Doom look like?
Through my knowledge of the game, I have found out that there were two versions of BSoDs.

-What does the server Blue Scroll of Doom look like?
The server Blue Scroll of Doom looks like this.

-What does the Blue Scroll of Doom do?
They are nasty little buggers which make you not receive any gold or experiance from the monster you just won over.

-Where can I get a Blue Scroll of Doom?
Go and battle a monster, win the fight. Maybe a Blue Scroll of Doom will appear.

What happens after a Blue Scroll of Doom?
The game assumes you have 'won' your battle and you will be able to proceed on as normal. The only effect on you is that you will not be able to gain any Gold or EXP.

-When do these Blue Scroll of Dooms mostly appear?
They appear mostly when the server is buggy or is having too many players online, or sometimes it's just your internet connection.

-What is a server maintenence?
A server maintenece is where the staff have to close up the game so that only guardians may log in. And during that time, the staff upgrade to the hardware to bring you fast and reliable monster slaying.

-What does he staff do to the server?
They do upgrades and network changes to the servers. While that time, the whole game is shut off, even to guardians I'm afraid.

-Why do the staff have to work on the server?
The goal of these changes were to fix the BSOD (Blue scroll of death) error messages that were becoming common during peak playing times over the past month. These errors, and other problems are directly related to the large number of battles being completed each second.

-What happened to the server limit? It just got lowered!
The staff are going to keep the server cap slightly lower than usual so that we can continue working on the machines and monitor our changes without having to go into a full "Maintenance mode".

-Why do I keep receiving a Blue Scroll of Doom everytime I go into another scene even though I'm not in a battle?
You probably maybe just changed your password while you were playing the game, log out and then back in and everything will be fine.

-When I click next on the Blue Scroll of Doom, I receive a blank screen, what do I do?
You should probably just log out and then back in agin.

-Before I even go into a battle, I receive a Blue Scroll o Doom, why is that?
Probably the server is just buggy. The staff will fix it sooner or later.

-I keep getting Blue Scrolls of Doom! Should I make a thread about it every single time i get one?
No, that is the worst thing you can do when you get one, do not ever make thread about Blue Scrolls of Doom whenever you got one because Vephoma is always watching.

-Why can't the staff just buy a new server?
Because servers costs lots and lots of money, the server was once 4000, then the staff raised it to 4500, be happy.

-Why not look for one on ebay?
Half the staff probably don't even know what ebay is.

-What does the Blue Scroll of Doom look like in a battle scene?
A Blue Scroll of Doom looks like this is a battle scene.

-What do they look like on a blank screen?
A Blue Scroll of Doom looks like this on a blank screen.

-What does a Blue Scroll of Doom look like in a shop?
Like a Blue Scroll of Doom is a shop, duh.

-Is this a Blue Scroll of Doom?
No, it is just because you are an adventurer and the server is full, become a guaridan and log into the game at any time you like!

-What about this? Is this a Blue Scroll of Doom?
Nope, you receive that message right after the one above this question.

-How long do I have to wait until the Blue Scroll of Doom go away?
Patience, the staff are trying their best to fix the server, and if it's not the server, then it's your internet connection, I suggest you read just play in a low quality mode and in aa smaller screen resolution, but I'm pretty sure that won't help. Maybe just try reading this.

-Who makes these Blue Scrolls of Doom?
The Blue Scroll of Doom Lord, duh. Who else?

-Where is the Blue Scroll of Doom Lord so I can kill him?
You can't find him. He's in his secret lair plotting his secret plan.

-Who is the best job to slay the Blue Scroll of Doom Lord?
Captain Rhubarb would be your man.

-Is there anyway i can help?
For adventurers, maybe try not to "attempt" to log in the server every single second of so.

-At what time do the Blue Scroll of Doom least appear?
Mostly at Guardian Swims, when the server has less adventurers on.

-Is there any way to still get a the exp and gold from the monster after a Blue Scroll of Doom?
No.

If there are anything I should add also, please speak out.

Fonts

Instead of embedding all of the fonts into the game, we let flash use a generic font.

We tell flash: "Use a generic sans serif font"
Flash on each person's comptuer tells the running operating system: "Use whatever font is considered the default sans-serif font"
The operating system then picks something like Arial (for Windows), or some other font like New York (for Mac)

If you can't see a lot of the text while playing the game:

The problem is either with the Flash plugin for your browser, or a problem with the browser, or you're missing what's normally considered a default font on your computer.

Try using a different web browser on your computer to see if its a browser problem.

Then try installing the very latest Flash plugin, if you're using a non-Microsoft browser.

Also try installing the basic fonts that you always find on your type of computer, especially if you've ever removed some.

If you buy something in the shop, and then don't see it on your equipment list in battle:

First view your character detail page and see if it is listed on your character sheet.
If it's not there, then you didn't really buy it.

Only your first eight items in each category are usable in battle.
Anything after the eighth item is stored in an off-screen storage locker.
To swap item order, use the Inventory section inside any shop in the game.

Problems Logging in?

If you are not able to log into AQ, and are stuck at the "Validating Login" screen:

First:
* Check the AQ home page www.battleon.com to see if there are any important announcements, like "Server Offline for Maintenance"
* Try logging into the "Manage Account" link to make sure your login and password are correct.
* Click the Play buttons from the AQ home page to make sure you are connecting to a live game server.
* Don't use any cheat program to login. They might not work, and it could also steal your account password.

Then try all of these things to see if any help:

* Clear your temporary internet files, also called web browser cache. (you all probably have heard this a zillion times, but try again.
* Completely close out all browsers and restart your computer and try playing again.
* Make sure you have the latest version of the Flash plug-in for your web browser.
* Try connecting on a different day of the week or time of day than you normally do.
* Try using a different web browser. Try Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera if you are able to install them all.
* Scan you computer for any viruses, spyware, trojan software, or ad-ware.
* Try temporarily turning off your Anti-Virus software, Anti-Spyware, Parent Controls, Firewalls etc.
* Turn off anything else that might be interfering with your connection to the game servers. This includes any software or extra configuration that your ISP may have provided for you to speed up your net connection.

These next steps may not help you on your own computer, but will help narrow down the problem.
If you can play using your character from a different computer, then the problem is definitely specific to your own computer or internet connection.

* Try using a different computer at your home, school, library or office. A computer nearby where you usually play from.
* Try using a different computer at a friends house, or anywhere else where you know the other person uses a different ISP to connect to the Internet.
